Reexamining the narrative of the death and resurrection of Jesus from the middle day-liturgically named as Holy Saturday-she seeks a theology that addresses the experience of living in the aftermath of trauma. Through a reinterpretation of "remaining" in the Johannine Gospel, she proposes a new theology of the Spirit that challenges traditional conceptions of redemption. Offered, in its place, is a vision of the Spirit's witness from within the depths of human suffering to the persistence of divine love.

Book The Visionary Brand

Download or read book The Visionary Brand written by Bryan Smeltzer and published by LiquidMind Press. This book was released on 2022-02-08 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Visionary Brand In my new book, The Visionary Brand, I explore how brands become Visionary, and how they sustain this success for generations. Through both my direct experience with these brands, along with extensive research, I have been able to define the formula for realizing Visionary status. Although I have found no "one" brand is truly the ultimate Visionary, many are close, and you discover why these great brands are missing one or many ingredients to becoming truly Visionary. What makes a brand truly Visionary? Product, Innovation, Culture, Marketing? It is a harmonious blending of product, marketing, and passionate culture. Along with a visionary who establishes and commits themselves and the brand to ageless foundational principles. What formula has sustained iconic brands such as; Apple, Nike, Adidas, and allowed them to maintain their vision and brand ETHOS for generations? How does one brand lose its premium status, while others thrive from generation to generation? The Visionary Brand explores the core of these generational companies, and how they have evolved to become visionaries. This definitive guide to preserving authentic success through identifying, protecting, and nurturing the brand's core foundational principles will be a timeless leadership resource. Both professionally and personally, serving a purpose from start-up through established category leaders. Most brands at some point lose sight of their vision or have not established their brand core ETHOS. The Visionary Brand will revitalize those who are not yet evangelizing their brand's values and principles, along with guiding those who have yet to define their foundation. To succeed, you must understand who you are, what value you are providing, where you are positioning, and how to engage with your loyal community and brand team. From aspirational, real-life scenarios, to inspirational guidance, The Visionary Brand will provide ongoing support to successfully drive your brand forward. The Visionary Brand outlines the independent elements to emulating and successfully executing this foundational strategy. * Define your vision and build a Foundational Principles platform. * Stick to your vision while capturing global market share from your competitors. * Create a continuous Pipeline of Innovation. * Establish a Culture of Passionate followers. * Engage, and build Loyalty. * Embrace the changing tide of the new age adoption curve. * Be an Artist, be yourself, and instill the courage to accomplish your Vision. There may be Visionary brands, but no one company exists as The Visionary Brand, while some have most, none have all. I sincerely hope you enjoy the book and find its content useful in your Journey to becoming Visionary! Sincerely, Bryan Smeltzer, Author, The Visionary Brand

  • Publisher : Oxford University Press
  • Release : 1990-07-26

Download or read book Visionaries and Planners written by Stanley Buder and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1990-07-26 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For nearly a century the Garden City movement has represented one end of a continuum in an ongoing debate about the future of the modern city. In 1898 Ebenezer Howard envisioned an experimental community as the alternative to huge, teeming cities. Small, planned "garden cities" girdled by greenbelts were to serve in time as the "master key" to a higher, more cooperative stage of civilization based on ecologically balanced communities. Howard soon founded an international planning movement which ever since has represented a remarkable blend of accommodation to and protest against urban changes and the rise of the suburbs. In this interconnected history of the Garden City movement in the United States and Britain, Buder examines its influence, strengths and limitations. Howard's garden city, he shows, joined together two very different types of late-nineteenth-century experimental communities, creating a tension never fully resolved. One approach, utopian and radical in nature, challenged conventional values; the other, the model industrial towns of "enlightened" capitalists, reinforceed them. Buder traces this tension through planning history from the nineteenth-century world of visionaries, philanthropy, and self help into our own with its reliance on the expert, bureaucracy, and governmental policy, shedding light on the complex changes in the way we have thought in the twentieth century about community, urban design, and indeed the process of change. His final chapters examine the world-wide enthusiasm for "New Towns" between 1945-1975 and recent political and social trends which challenge many fundamental assumptions of modern planning.

Book excerpt: Once again we are blessed with yet another collection of Jim Foster’s ravings. His first book, I hate to complain, but ... with its views on everything from bank mergers to the author’s 30-year love affair with Sophia Loren, is being hailed as a classic example - though of what no one is quite sure. Readers will be amazed at the depth of the author’s knowledge on just about any subject and his total inability to keep it to himself. What should you do if a comet falls on you at 1000 mph? What are the best pick-up lines for the man or woman looking for romance? Why doesn’t Julia Roberts shave her underarms? All this and many other bits of useless information will have Canadians from coast to coast chuckling out loud, popping their eyes in wonder and simply scratching their heads in bewilderment.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When William Henry ODonner, Democratic governor from Pennsylvania, wins the Democratic party nomination for president of the United States in the summer of 2008, and then the presidency in that falls general elections, he became the first from his party to wrest control of the White House from the Republicans since the end of the last century. Given the bitterness of losing the elections in 2000 to the Republican candidate, Benjamin Croft, the left wing of the Democratic party was ecstatic over the win and saw it as their opportunity to fundamentally change the direction the country had taken after September 11, 2001, when in their minds the Republican presidency of Benjamin Croft had instituted repressive measures in an attempt to protect the country from another attack by elements of radical Islam. At long last, they were in a position to remove all American combat forces from the Middle East (who they viewed as occupation troops in an illegal war), remove all barriers to immigration, and to institute political measures to ensure the predominance of the left-leaning Democratic party for generations to come. As the political drama unfolds after the inauguration of President William Henry ODonner on January 20, 2009, Dr. Ross Shepard former Navy SEAL team leader and current professor of political science at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina is preparing his students for final spring exams when he receives a call from an old friend in his military past. Still at the Pentagon and part of Homeland Security, Commander Frank Reddings alerts Dr. Ross Shepard of Internet chatter the National Security Administration has been picking up for the last few months which leads it to believe involves a divergence of strategy by Al Qaeda. It appears Al Qaeda is attempting to move away from hard targets like New York and Washington, D.C., toward softer targets in the Southeast. CDR Reddings wants Dr. Ross Shepard to organize and maintain a Southeastern Threat Assessment Group (STAG) to prepare to fend off any attempts by Al Qaeda to attack the southeastern section of the country. With some misgivings, Dr. Ross Shepard agrees to do so and is quickly swept up in a web of intrigue involving shaheed (suicide) bombers, nuclear politics, and love.
