Book Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Download or read book Biochemistry and Molecular Biology written by Robert Brambl and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Series The fungi represent a heterogeneous assemblage of eukaryotic microorganisms and have become favored organisms for research at the cellular and molecular level. Such research involvement has been stimulated by interest in the biotechnological application of fungi in processes related to industry, agriculture and ecology. Considering both yeasts and mycelial fungi, The Mycota highlights developments in both basic and applied research and presents an overview of fungal systematics and cell structure. Foremost authorities in research on mycology have been assembled to edit and contribute to the volumes. This Volume The third volume includes: Membrane Systems and Transport, Responses to Physical Stress, Transcription, Chromosome Replication, Metabolic Pathways and Regulation.

Book Transcription Factors

    Book Details:
  • Author : Joseph Locker
  • Publisher : Garland Science
  • Release : 2003-12-16
  • ISBN : 1135323631
  • Pages : 345 pages

Download or read book Transcription Factors written by Joseph Locker and published by Garland Science. This book was released on 2003-12-16 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the DNA-binding transcription factors and the proteins with which they directly interact. It examines the regulatory systems that modulate gene expression in all cells and the more specialized systems that regulate localized gene expression throughout the mammalian organism.

Book Gene Expression and Regulation in Mammalian Cells

Download or read book Gene Expression and Regulation in Mammalian Cells written by Fumiaki Uchiumi and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2018-02-21 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Central dogma" was presented by Dr. Francis Crick 60 years ago. The information of nucleotide sequences on DNAs is transcribed into RNAs by RNA polymerases. We learned the mechanisms of how transcription determines function of proteins and behaviour of cells and even how it brings appearances of organisms. This book is intended for scientists and medical researchers especially who are interested in the relationships between transcription and human diseases. This volume consists of an introductory chapter and 14 chapters, divided into 4 parts. Each chapter is written by experts in the basic scientific field. A collection of articles presented by active and laboratory-based investigators provides recent advances and progresses in the field of transcriptional regulation in mammalian cells.

Book Transcriptional Regulation at the G2 M Transition in the Budding Yeast Saccharomyces Cerevisiae

Download or read book Transcriptional Regulation at the G2 M Transition in the Budding Yeast Saccharomyces Cerevisiae written by David Matthew Reynolds and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thesis the biochemical and genetic characterization of Fkh2p identifies it as a major component of SFF. It has been shown to bind DNA in an Mcm1p dependent manner and the Fkh2p DNA binding domain is essential for this interaction. The protein interaction domain of Mcm1p has been demonstrated to be essential for ternary complex formation. Fkh2p, along with a functionally redundant protein Fkh1p, has been show to control the periodic expression of the CLB2 cluster genes. The functional characterisation of the Fkh2p domains reveals an important role for both the Forkhead associated domain and the C-terminus. Ndd1p. another protein important for mitotic progression, is shown to be important for CLB2 cluster regulation by de-repressing Fkh2p and activating gene expression. The role of cdk activity is shown to act through the CLB2 cluster upstream activating sequences, possibly through Ndd1p.
