Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: with a Postcript coauthored by Michael W. Goheen In print for two decades and translated into eight languages, Albert Wolters's classic formulation of an integrated Christian worldview has been revised and expanded to reach new readers beyond the generation that has already benefited from this clear, concise proposal for transcending the false dichotomy between sacred and secular. Wolters begins by defining the nature and scope of a worldview, distinguishing it from philosophy and theology. He then outlines a Reformed analysis of the three basic categories in human history -- creation, fall, and redemption -- arguing that while the fall reaches into every corner of the world, Christians are called to participate in Christ's redemption of all creation. This Twentieth Anniversary edition features a new concluding chapter, coauthored with Michael Goheen, that helpfully places the discussion of worldview in a broader narrative and missional context.

Book Four Views on Creation Evolution and Intelligent Design

Download or read book Four Views on Creation Evolution and Intelligent Design written by Zondervan, and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2017-11-21 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evolution--or the broader topic of origins--has enormous relevance to how we understand the Christian faith and how we interpret Scripture. Four Views on Creation, Evolution, and Intelligent Design presents the current "state of the conversation" about origins among evangelicals representing four key positions: Young Earth Creationism - Ken Ham (Answers in Genesis) Old Earth (Progressive) Creationism - Hugh Ross (Reasons to Believe) Evolutionary Creation - Deborah B. Haarsma (BioLogos) Intelligent Design - Stephen C. Meyer (The Discovery Institute) The contributors offer their best defense of their position addressing questions such as: What is your position on origins - understood broadly to include the physical universe, life, and human beings in particular? What do you take to be the most persuasive arguments in defense of your position? How do you demarcate and correlate evidence about origins from current science and from divine revelation? What hinges on answering these questions correctly? This book allows each contributor to not only present the case for his or her view, but also to critique and respond to the critiques of the other contributors, allowing you to compare their beliefs in an open forum setting to see where they overlap and where they differ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Epoch of Creation: The Scripture Doctrine Contrasted With the Geological Theory The fact that God has made a revelation of his mind and will to man, may not be openly denied but while his Word is admitted and professedly respected, theories are broached at variance with its doctrines, or even irreconcileable with its origin; and which, being associated with all that currently passes for phi losophy and science, are, therefore, only the more imposing to those who would be held in repute for their mental independence and enlargement. Minds of this class are always the first to be captivated by anything which has the aspect of being a new view; and hence, should infidel sentiments ever obtain in the community, it will be chiefly through their influence. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Nature and the Bible, Vol. 2: Lectures on the Mosaic History of Creation in Its Relation to Natural Science In the Biblical account of creation it is only said that the origin Of the vegetable and animal world must be referred to the creative activity of God, and that God has taken measures for the reproduction and pre servation of the species Of plants and animals. We are not told how the first organic beings originated, and still less how thenceforth the separate individuals should come into existence; whether all plants should spring only from seeds or shoots, and all animals should come into existence by means Of procreation or from eggs or germs, or whether there should be other ways also. The author of Genesis had no reason for entering into such scientific details. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Outlines of Creation Classic Reprint

Download or read book Outlines of Creation Classic Reprint written by Elisha Noyce and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-05 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Outlines of Creation It is true that infidels have Often brought forward some branch Of Science in confutation Of Scripture, but it is also a fact that in nearly every such case, the very arguments that have been used by these men, have at last become the strongest arguments on the other side. Geo logy was at first adduced as a proof that the world had existed from all eternity, instead Of having been created by an Omnipotent God, and the question had often been asked, Can you produce one proof of the creation Of any thing? N ow this was a difficult question to answer, until Geology made manifest the fact that Man was created, by producing a clear and unimpeachable proof that up to a certain time, he did not exist on the earth, and that at a period Of time, a little later, he did exist; the space between these epochs is not known, but it has nothing to do with the argument, for within that period (whatever it may have been) Man was created, and created as perfect in is physical organisation as he is at present - no long series Of developments from the higher animals by for tuitous circumstances, as some pretend - no gradual addition Of parts to suit the'physical changes of the earth's sur face. There is undoubted proof from the Oldest records, in the form Of Sculptures, that Man's appearance has always been the same, and the records Of the Bible (the antiquity Of which, at all events, cannot be disputed) show that the constitution of his mind was at that time just as it is now - every passion, every desire the same - the only advance he has made, is in the knowledge Of God's works; the application Of that knowledge to his own benefit, and the glorification of his Maker. Book The Biblical Account of the Creation

Download or read book The Biblical Account of the Creation written by Magnus Sabiston and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-03 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Biblical Account, of the Creation: Shown to Be in Accordance With the Discoveries of Science This led me to make a careful study of every passage in the Bible that Speaks of the work of creation, particularly of the first two chapters of the book of Genesis, to determine their relation to each other, and their true interpretation with reference to the operations of nature. I soon found that the second chapter has a twofold meaning in accordance with the twofold form of the Divine name used in it, yahveh-elohim, -one part designating the Creator as the God of law and order, good and evil, and the other, as the God of sinless nature, - and that it is descriptive of the physical formation and condition of the earth, as well as of man, to whom alone it is regarded as having refer ence; and, further, that every chapter onward to the eleventh describes, in like manner, events con nected with creative action, which modified the face of the earth and the condition of man. This is the work which Elohim finished on the seventh day (see Gen. Ii. And it is on the border line which con neets the work of the sixth day with that of the seventh, and is therefore, common to both.
