Book A Biblical Examination of Baptism

Download or read book A Biblical Examination of Baptism written by Max Douglas Younce and published by . This book was released on 2007-01 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Biblical Examination of Baptism, by Dr. Max D. Younce, is a study of all the Scriptures where baptism is discussed in the New Testament with thorough exegesis as to what baptism really is and what it isn't. The book explains the different baptisms taught in the Bible and their purpose; i.e., spiritual, water, Christ's baptism unto death on the cross, Christ's baptism by John the Baptist. This book scripturally refutes infant baptism. If you want to talk with someone who believes in Baptismal Regeneration, you need this book.

Book What the Bible Really Says about Baptism

Download or read book What the Bible Really Says about Baptism written by Gregory Tyree and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Greg Tyree has thoughtfully, carefully, and vigorously done just that in this wonderful little book, "What the Bible REALLY Says about Baptism. You will certainly appreciate his candid writing accompanied by his careful style that will lead any thinking Christian who has yet to be baptized to say "What hinders me from being baptized?" Dr. Tyree clearly sets forth the Biblical foundation for the historic doctrine of believer's baptism by immersion. Hours of research and Biblical study have once again paid off for all of us who will read and learn from the truth contained in this book. His years of pastoral experience as well as hours of laborious preparation provide a vast pool of knowledge from which to pull. But more than that, this man loves God and His inspired Word-that alone infinitely qualifies Dr. Tyree to write this book. In a day and age when the Church is suffering from "truth deficit" we are grateful for men like Greg Tyree who unashamedly stand on the solid rock of God's truth as revealed to us in the Scriptures. This is a work that ought to be read carefully and repeatedly with Bible in hand! It is my pleasure to recommend What the Bible REALLY Says about Baptism for your reading, study, encouragement, and challenge. Joe L. Fauth Pastor, Calvary Bible Church, Wrightsville, PA President, Spread of Grace Ministries In What the Bible Really Says about Baptism I will show you from the Bible that "believer's baptism" (baptism by immersion that follows conversion or regeneration) is the correct mode of baptism. I will show the error of infant baptism (pedobaptism), as well as the falsity of sprinkling and pouring (effusion). I will demonstrate the meaning and purpose of baptism, as well as its significance regarding assimilation and membership in the local church. I will not do this by merely quoting theologians and church historians, but mostly by appealing to the teachings of the Bible. So if you are concerned with what the Bible teaches, and you desire to be obedient to God's Word, then this book may be just what the doctor ordered. Beware; you may change your views. If you do, will you be courageous enough to act on your new convictions? TABLE OF CONTENTS Foreword Preface Introduction Chapter One: Why Baptism Matters Chapter Two: The Various Views of Baptism Chapter Three: The Mandate of Believer's Baptism Chapter Four: The Meaning of Believer's Baptism Chapter Five: The Method of Believer's Baptism Chapter Six: The Message of Believer's Baptism Chapter Seven: Objections to Believer's Baptism Chapter Eight: The Qualifications for Baptism Conclusion Afterword About the Author

THE ORIGIN AND MODE OF CHRISTIAN BAPTISM IN ANSWER TO AN IMMEESIONIST TREATISE, ENTITLED, "THE FORM OF BAPTISM." By The Rev. JOSEPH L. TUCKER, D. D., Rector of Cbrist Church, Mobile. THE ORIGIN AND MODE OF BAPTISM. There has recently been published a treatise which purports to furnish "conclusive proof" that Immersion is the only form of Baptism taught in the Bible, and an expression of judgment has been called for as to whether the argument contained in this treatise does or does not make good this claim. The claim is a very large one. Since the day when the matter was in dispute between the disciples of St. John the Baptist and the Jews, as we read in the third chapter of St. John's Gospel, at the twenty-fifth verse, baptism has been the subject of frequent controversy; and every aspect of it, moral and material, spiritual and physical, has been discussed to exhaustion. Infidels, heretics, sectarians, and inventors of strange views have assailed it one side or another, and fathers and theologians have defended and established it; until finally there has come about a general consensus of opinion, and belief has settled and crystallized in the main around two poles, viz., the Catholic faith, which holds to regeneration in baptism, and the Evangelical faith, which denies regeneration in baptism. The former includes the Soman, the Greek and the Angelican churches, together with those who hold to the Anglican and Westminster Confessions, whose utterances are clear on this subject, or about nine-tenths of all Christians, all of whom also practice infant baptism; and the latter includes various sects of modern origin and short histories, with some minor schools of thought in the older churches. The literature of the subject is immense. No...

Book Systematic Theology Second Edition

Download or read book Systematic Theology Second Edition written by Wayne A. Grudem and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2020-12-08 with total page 1617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new edition of Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem is one of the most important resources for helping you understand Scripture and grow as a Christian. The most widely used resource of the last 25 years in its area, Systematic Theology has been thoroughly revised and expanded for the first time while retaining the features that have made it the standard in its field: clear explanations, an emphasis on each doctrine's scriptural basis, and practical applications to daily life. With nearly 250 pages of new content and revisions, this new edition now includes the following distinctive features: Updated analysis of recent controversies within evangelical theology, including the eternal relationship between the Father and the Son in the Trinity, the role of women in the church, miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit, and contemporary worship music. New discussion and critiques of recent theological controversies situated outside of traditional evangelical theology, such as open theism, the "new perspective on Paul," Molinism (or "middle knowledge"), "Free Grace" theology, and the preterist view of Christ's second coming. Completely revised chapter on the clarity of Scripture. Completely revised chapter on creation and evolution, including a longer critique of theistic evolution and an extensive discussion on the age of the earth. New discussion of how biblical inerrancy applies to some specific "problem verses" in the Gospels. Additional material explaining evangelical Protestant differences with Roman Catholicism, Protestant liberalism, and Mormonism. Completely updated bibliographies. All Scripture quotations updated from RSV to ESV. Updated section on contemporary worship music. Numerous other updates and corrections. Part of the brilliance of Systematic Theology has been its simplicity and ease of use. Each chapter follows the same structure: discussion of the doctrine being considered, an explanation of that doctrine's biblical support and possible objections, followed by personal application and key terms to know for personal growth. Chapters also include a Scripture memory passage, references to other literature on the topic, and suggested hymns and worship songs. If you think theology is hard to understand or boring, then this new edition of Systematic Theology will change your mind.

Download or read book Against Jovinianus written by St. Jerome and published by Dalcassian Publishing Company. This book was released on 2019-12-07 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jovinianus, about whom little more is known than what is to be found in Jerome's treatise, published a Latin treatise outlining several opinions: That a virgin is no better, as such, than a wife in the sight of God. Abstinence from food is no better than a thankful partaking of food. A person baptized with the Spirit as well as with water cannot sin. All sins are equal. There is but one grade of punishment and one of reward in the future state. In addition to this, he held the birth of Jesus Christ to have been by a "true parturition," and was thus refuting the orthodoxy of the time, according to which, the infant Jesus passed through the walls of the womb as his Resurrection body afterwards did, out of the tomb or through closed doors.
