Book Franz Liszt s Songs for Voice and Piano

Download or read book Franz Liszt s Songs for Voice and Piano written by Małgorzata Gamrat and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2023-11-27 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How does a Romantic composer approach the poetry he sets: as raw material to be remade, a pretext for self-expression, a sanctified artefact, or a message to be illustrated with music? In my book, I examine Franz Liszt’s songs for voice and piano, which remain little known to scholars, artists, and music lovers alike. The objective is to present Liszt’s songs in all their complexity and diversity as well as identifying the key elements of the composer’s broadly understood song-writing technique – both those that make him unique and those that relate him to the European tradition. This approach also makes it possible to shed light on a major though previously neglected aspect of the composer’s workshop, namely, his work with the poetic text, which to Liszt was just as important as the musical setting.

Book Esoteric Egypt

Download or read book Esoteric Egypt written by J. S. Gordon and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2015-01-30 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study of the 100,000-year-old spiritual science of ancient Egypt • Examines the metaphysical structure of our universe as seen by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Celts, showing that each is based on the same central concepts from time immemorial • Reveals that the ancient Egyptians believed in reincarnation and a spiritual evolutionary process • Explains the connections between the movements of Orion and Sirius and the story of Osiris and Isis, the importance of the Pleiades and circumpolar stars to the Egyptians, and the fundamental unity of the Egyptian pantheon • Investigates the people who colonized greater Egypt 100,000 years ago, descendants of the Atlanteans In Esoteric Egypt, J. S. Gordon reveals how the sacred science and wisdom tradition of ancient Egypt--the Land of Khem--stems from an advanced prehistoric worldwide civilization. Examining the metaphysical structure of our universe as seen by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Celts, he shows that each tradition is merely a variation on the central concepts of the precession of the equinoxes and the obliquity of the ecliptic pole. He explores the connections between the cyclical movements of Orion and Sirius and the story of Osiris and Isis, the importance of the Pleiades and the circumpolar stars, and the ancient tradition of man as a divine being “born from the substance of the stars.” He investigates the people who colonized greater Egypt 100,000 years ago, the progenitors of ancient Egyptian civilization descended from the 4th- and 5th-Root Race Atlanteans. Gordon explores the magical and esoteric meanings behind Egyptian sacred ritual and temple art, drawing parallels to the Mystery School process of initiation. Explaining the fundamental unity of the Egyptian pantheon and the structure of the after-death state, he shows that the Egyptians clearly believed in reincarnation and a spiritual evolutionary process. Revealing the ancient sacred science of the Land of Khem, teachings passed down from the earliest times, he examines the psychospiritual nature of the human being and the function of our spiritual identity and our souls.

Book Egyptian Literature Routledge Revivals

Download or read book Egyptian Literature Routledge Revivals written by E.A. Wallis Budge and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-02-11 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sir E. A. Wallis Budge (1857-1934) was Keeper of the British Museum’s department of oriental antiquities from 1894 until his retirement in 1924. Carrying out many missions to Egypt in search of ancient objects, Budge was hugely successful in collecting papyri, statues and other artefacts for the trustees of the British Museum: numbering into the thousands and of great cultural and historical significance. Budge published well over 100 monographs, which shaped the development of future scholarship and are still of great academic value today, dealing with subjects such as Egyptian religion, history and literature. First published in 1912, this work is the first of two volumes which deal explicitly with ancient Egyptian literature. Budge reproduces the most typical literature in hieroglyphic form, with the intention of providing the beginner with a series of books to read alongside translations. They are arranged here with English translations next to the original writing, and are complemented by a detailed introduction which provides a contextual framework for this fascinating material. Also including a number of other texts and a range of detailed images and hieroglyphics, this classic work will be of interest to scholars and students of Ancient Egyptian literature, language and history.

Book excerpt: The Earliest Egyptian creation stories are not just similar to the book of Genesis, they are the same; in time they became convoluted, conflated and disconnected from their ancient past. Taking the Bible at its word, my research revealed some astonishing facts concerning the Egyptian Zep Tepi, or creation story. Did you know it contains the story of Adam and Eve? They are called Wa and Aa and were led out of the Djeba domain (Paradise) to the Wetjeset-Neter domain (Our Reality) because of the snake, the Great Leaping One. It also states the world was destroyed by a global flood and when the primeval waters receded, the Shebtiw (Noah's family) began rebuilding the world. It doesn't end there; there are more perfect parallels to the creation stories in Genesis and Early Jewish Writings.

Book Project Apostasy

  • Pages : 242 pages

Download or read book Project Apostasy written by Jesse Acuff and published by Author House. This book was released on 2008-08-29 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Project Apostasy: The Development and Propagation of the Trinitarian Doctrine is Satan's story. Spurred by his inordinate beauty and consumate pride, he rebelled against his Creator. Undeterred by his categorical defeat, he launched the most blasphemous doctrine to ever invade the Christian Church. Through his evil minions, the Babylonian king Nimrod and his mother-wife Semiramis, Satan developed the Trinitarian Doctrine which was spread worldwide by the Babylonian Mysteries, taken up by the Romish Church, who has been its most ardent disseminator since the 4th century AD. Through the ages this doctrine has become the darling of orthodox Christianity and is taught as fact when there is no evidence of it in the Scriptures. Nevertheless, it has affected millions by keeping them in abject spiritual darkness. A.W. Tozer, in his book The Knowledge of the Holy, on page 6, observes, "The essence of idolatry is the entertainment of thoughts about God that are unworthy of Him." He further states, "Wrong ideas about God are not only the fountain from which the polluted waters of idolatry flow; they are themselves idolatrous." Project Apostasy and the Holy Trinity challenges the reader to search out the truth behind the development of the Trinitarian Doctrine. It behooves us to emulate the Bereans who searched the Scriptures daily seeking the truth. It is time that we returned to the Gospel the Apostles first delivered. Jesus quoted the Shema as his creed. "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is one God." And in John 17: 3 he declared His Father as "the only true God." This is pure monotheism as opposed to the orthodox Trinitarian concept of three-in-one. We should, rather, take up the creed of Jesus and the Apostles and cease from our idolatrous worship of a triune God, a concept never taught in the pages of the Bible.
