Book The Art of Satsang Simplified

Download or read book The Art of Satsang Simplified written by Pujya Shri Devprashaddasji Swami and published by Rajkot Gurukul. This book was released on with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every time God visits the Earth, He visits His devotees living across various places to refresh their hope and intensify their desire towards Him. When God is not here, His Saints take over His role and walk across the globe inspiring the devotees. Guruvarya Shri Devkrushnadasji Swami, the head of Gurukul Rajkot is a Saint and Guru of over 240 such Sadhus who currently propagate Bhagwan Swaminarayan's mission around the globe. Sadguru Shri Devprasaddasji Swami among them is one such Saint who often visits devotees with a single intent of strengthening their desire towards God, and thus reducing the distance between devotees and God. In the year 2017, within a span of three months, Swamiji travelled across all corners and centers of United States to personally visit the devotees, and teach them the devotional techniques that he had learnt from His Guru Shastriji Maharaj Shri Dharmajivandasji Swami (and other prominent Saints), from his personal observations while living as per God's and Guru's directions, and from scriptures like Vachanamrut, Swami Ni Vato, Bhagavat Gita, etc., “The art of being detached from worldly attachments”, “Real cause of birth and death cycle”, “Importance of selfless actions and the process of bringing it into your life”, “Importance of a Saint in our lives”, “Understanding Moh (Enchantment)”, are some of the many profound topics explained in a simple manner that would help ease a devotee's life by multiple folds. This book is an attempt to capture the depth of Swamiji's teachings that he delivered in USA in the year 2017. Shri Ramesh B. of non-Gujarati descent listened to the Katha in Gujarati and transcribed it as a collection which took the form of this book. We hope that the book brings forth the teachings of Sadguru Devprasaddasji Swami as it is and brings clarity on the inner techniques of devotion to the reader and thus enabling him to possess God as quickly as possible.

Book Satsang ni Shubhvarta Part 1 in English

Download or read book Satsang ni Shubhvarta Part 1 in English written by Purani Shri Premprakashdasji Swami and published by Rajkot Gurukul. This book was released on with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the blessings of Bhagwan Shree Swāminārāyan and the tireless efforts of Param Pujya Shastriji Maharaj Shri Dharmajivandasji Swami the Gurukul was established in Rajkot to forward Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s mission of transforming individuals into devotees. There are countless examples of transformations in our Sampraday and each one is an inspiration for new devotees. Shree Swāminārāyan Gurukul Rajkot has a monthly publication, Sadvidya, which contains thoughtful essays and short stories on spirituality and devotion. During the early years, Purāni Premprakāshadāsji Swami shared such tales in the publication which reached the homes of devotees worldwide. These devotees were overjoyed to read such thought-provoking stories that were inspirational, peaceful and provided them strength in their daily lives. Collectively, they requested that Swami continue to write and share more tales from his collection. Based on the response and with the blessings of his Sadguru, Purāni Swami penned a number of stories from his collection in a five part series named “Satsangnī Shubh Vartā.” The stories in these books are real events that are a part of the history of our Sampraday. Today these books have become a must-have and are found in almost every devotee’s home. To carry on the tradition of writing and sharing tales of our Satsang these books are currently in the process of being translated in English. The purpose is to provide spiritual sustenance for the youth of today and the generations to come. With the blessings of Guruvarya Shri Devkrushnadasji Swami and her father Kamleshbhāi Shah, Hiralben Shah has translated the first part in the series.

Book Introduction to Swaminarayan Hinduism

Download or read book Introduction to Swaminarayan Hinduism written by Raymond Brady Williams and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2018-11-08 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Introduction to Swaminarayan Hinduism, third edition, offers a comprehensive study of a contemporary form of Hinduism. Begun as a revival and reform movement in India 200 years ago, it has now become one of the fastest growing and most prominent forms of Hinduism. The Swaminarayan Hindu transnational network of temples and institutions is expanding in India, East Africa, the UK, USA, Australasia, and in other African and Asian cities. The devotion, rituals, and discipline taught by its founder, Sahajanand Swami (1781-1830) and elaborated by current leaders in major festivals, diverse media, and over the Internet, help preserve ethnic and religious identity in many modern cultural and political contexts. Swaminarayan Hinduism, here described through its history, divisions, leaders, theology and practices, provides valuable case studies of contemporary Hinduism, religion, migrants, and transnationalism. This new edition includes up-to-date information about growth, geographic expansion, leadership transitions, and impact of Swaminarayan institutions in India and abroad.

In time, his followers not only accepted him as the leader of the ashram but also as the manifestation of deity and called him Swaminarayan. His followers increased rapidly and today Swaminarayan Hinduism is a transnational religious movement with major centers in India, East Africa, UK, USA, and Australasia. It analyses the philosophy, conduct, and principles that guide Swaminarayan Hindus and provides a case study of the historical and social processes of adapting religious traditions to shape new identities in response to evolving social, economic, and political changes.

Book Faith Movements and Social Transformation

Download or read book Faith Movements and Social Transformation written by Samta P. Pandya and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-11 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the role of Hindu-inspired faith movements (HIFMs) in contemporary India as actors in social transformation. It further situates these movements in the context of the global political economy where such movements cross national boundaries to locate believers among the Hindu diaspora and others. In contemporary neoliberal India, HIFMs have become important actors, and they realize themselves by making public assertions through service. The four pillars of the contemporary presence of such movements are: gurus, sociality, hegemony and social transformation. Gurus, who spearhead these movements, create a matrix of possible meanings in their public discourses which their followers pick up to create messages of personal and social change. Sociality is a core strategy of proliferation across such movements and implies social service, which is qualified by memories of the guru and what they are believed to embody. Hegemony is reflected in the fact that social service in such movements often ominously imbibes right-wing or far-right Hinduism. They propose a model of Hindu-inspired social transformation, involving faith building into and transforming the civil society. The book discusses in a nuanced way several Hindu-inspired faith movements of various hues which have made national and international impact. This topical book is of interest to students and researchers in the fields of sociology, anthropology, social work, and social psychology, with a special interest in the study of religious movements.
