Nazia doesn't mind when her friends tease and call her a good beti, a dutiful daughter. Growing up in a working-class family in Karachi, Pakistan, Nazia knows that obedience is the least she can give to her mother, who has spent years saving and preparing for her dowry. But every daughter must grow up, and for fourteen-year-old Nazia that day arrives suddenly when her father gets into an accident at work, and her family finds themselves without money for rent or food. Being the beti that she is, Nazia drops out of school to help her mother clean houses, all the while wondering when she managed to lose control of her life that had been full of friends and school. Working as a maid is a shameful obligation that could be detrimental to her future -- after all, no one wants a housekeeper for a daughter-in-law. As Nazia finds herself growing up much too quickly, the lessons of hardship that seem unbearable turn out to be a lot more liberating than she ever imagined.

The author is one of the few European disciples who had the good fortune and the courage to stay with Osho through a series of tumultuous events, both in India and particularly in the United States. Life with the Master was unpredictable, insecure and chaotic, as Osho was creating new challenges for his disciples on a daily basis. While describing this adventurous journey, Dr Azima also sheds light on contemporary spirituality and presents a seven-step path for seekers. This is a powerful story, a deeply devotional book and a must-read for any spiritual seeker. Dr AzimaV. Rosciano studied medicine in Italy, obtaining his M.D. in Medicine &Surgery at the University of Palermo in 1977. After a short period of working in conventional hospitals in Sicily, he left Europe, travelling overland to India. Once in India, he met Osho, immediately became a disciple, and remained with him until the mystic's death in 1990. Transformed by this experience, Azima returned to the medical profession, and soon became one of Italy'smost recognised and respected homeopathic doctors. Since then, he has published two books on medicine and two CDs of music therapy, as well as many articles in various magazines. He also has given several interviews on radio and television about the relationship between medicine and meditation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new edition of the bestselling classic – published with a special introduction to mark its 10th anniversary This pioneering account sets out to understand the structure of the human brain – the place where mind meets matter. Until recently, the left hemisphere of our brain has been seen as the ‘rational’ side, the superior partner to the right. But is this distinction true? Drawing on a vast body of experimental research, Iain McGilchrist argues while our left brain makes for a wonderful servant, it is a very poor master. As he shows, it is the right side which is the more reliable and insightful. Without it, our world would be mechanistic – stripped of depth, colour and value.

Book Paganini Master of Strings

Download or read book Paganini Master of Strings written by Opal Wheeler and published by . This book was released on 2011-01 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written with warmth and understanding, the present book on Paganini begins with his unhappy childhood along the wharves in Genoa and carries him straight through the tempestuous years when great genius and poverty waged an endless battle, which genius finally won. The boy gave his first concert at eleven, and his success was immediate and brilliant. The later years, however, were given over almost entirely to composing. His compositions were so exquisite and intricate that they became the despair of other musicians, as often only the master was able to play them. Added to a delightful story are some of Paganini's simpler compositions for the young music student to try. It is altogether a perfect biography for the younger group, full of action and exciting adventure, too.

Can you love someone you can never touch? Stella Grant likes to be in control—even though her totally out of control lungs have sent her in and out of the hospital most of her life. At this point, what Stella needs to control most is keeping herself away from anyone or anything that might pass along an infection and jeopardize the possibility of a lung transplant. Six feet apart. No exceptions. The only thing Will Newman wants to be in control of is getting out of this hospital. He couldn’t care less about his treatments, or a fancy new clinical drug trial. Soon, he’ll turn eighteen and then he’ll be able to unplug all these machines and actually go see the world, not just its hospitals. Will’s exactly what Stella needs to stay away from. If he so much as breathes on Stella she could lose her spot on the transplant list. Either one of them could die. The only way to stay alive is to stay apart. But suddenly six feet doesn’t feel like safety. It feels like punishment. What if they could steal back just a little bit of the space their broken lungs have stolen from them? Would five feet apart really be so dangerous if it stops their hearts from breaking too?

Book At the Feet of the Master

Download or read book At the Feet of the Master written by Alcyone and published by Pantianos Classics. This book was released on 1912 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Krishnamurti's profound early work of spiritualism displays great wisdom attuned to matters of higher contemplation. Demonstrating a precocious ability to instil and guide others with spiritual wisdom, Jiddu Krishnamurti was twelve when he first authored this primer on gaining knowledge. The book is not an attempt at conversion, but is instead a meditation upon wholesome, guiding principles that anyone who desires spiritual harmony should aspire to. Krishnamurti urges aspiring spiritualists to be honest with themselves. If they are determined, and have the inner wealth to embark upon such a journey, they will go far. Eliminating material desires, behaving properly with good manners and conduct, and regarding other human beings with compassion and love are explained as crucial tenets. Obstacles to attainment, both physical and mental, are also explained. Upon publishing this work, Jiddu Krishnamurti gained renown as a prodigy in spiritual thought. The curiosity of a wise master emerging whilst merely a child sparked great interest within and outside Krishnamurti's home nation of India. At the Feet of the Master asserts that while only a boy, Jiddu Krishnamurti received insight through a series of impressions gained from an unnamed master. A refreshing text certain to provide relief amid the maddening complexity of modern life, At the Feet of the Master not only marks the beginning of Krishnamurti's life as a spiritual teacher, but the commencement of countless spiritual journeys undertaken by its readers.

Book At The Master s Feet and The Visions of Sadhu Sundar Singh of India

This book was released on 2014-04-01 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the truths set forth in this book were revealed to me by the Master they deeply affected my life, and some of them have been used by me in my sermons and addresses in Europe, America, Africa, Australia, and Asia. At the request of many friends I have now gathered them together in this little book, and though it is possible that there are defects in setting them forth, I am sure that those who read them with prayer and an unprejudiced mind will benefit from them as I have. Sundar Singh was born into a Sikh family. His mother took him to sit at the feet of a sadhu while also sending him to Ewing Christian High School. Upon her death when he was fourteen he took out his anger on missionaries, persecuted Christian converts, and ridiculed their faith. Sundar resolved to kill himself but had a vision of Jesus and resolved to follow Christ. He was then denounced by his father and his brother attempted to poison him.
