Book Reburying the Past

Download or read book Reburying the Past written by Elizabeth Weiss and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transition metals are the 40 chemical elements 21 to 30, 39 to 48, 71 to 80, and 103 to 112. The name transition comes from their position in the periodic table of elements. In each of the four periods in which they occur, these elements represent the successive addition of electrons to the d atomic orbitals of the atoms. In this way, the transition metals represent the transition between group 2 elements and group 13 elements. This book discusses the preparation of a diverse range of transition metal-based compounds along with their structural and physical properties, their use in chemical synthesis, and their role in naturally occurring systems.

Book Compounds of the Transition Elements Involving Metal Metal Bonds

Download or read book Compounds of the Transition Elements Involving Metal Metal Bonds written by D. L. Kepert and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-06 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Compounds of the Transition Elements Involving Metal-Metal Bonds focuses on compounds of the transition elements involving metal-metal bonds. Emphasis is on metal-metal bonds in coordination compounds and organometallic complexes, halides, and oxides. Factors that influence the formation, stability, and properties of such compounds, as well as their application in various fields of chemistry and physics, are discussed. This book is divided into four sections and begins with a classification of metal-metal bonds and some of the physical and chemical methods used to study them, including X-ray crystallography, magnetic susceptibility and electron spin resonance, nuclear spin resonance, Mössbauer measurements, infrared and Raman spectroscopy, visible and ultraviolet spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, electrical conductivity, electrochemistry, and chemical reactivity. Factors influencing the strength of metal-metal bonds in metals and compounds are also examined. The remaining sections deal with metal-metal bonds in coordination compounds and organometallic complexes, halides, and oxides. This monograph will be a useful resource for inorganic chemists.

Book Organometallic Chemistry of the Transition Elements

Download or read book Organometallic Chemistry of the Transition Elements written by Florian P. Pruchnik and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 767 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organometallic chemistry belongs to the most rapidly developing area of chemistry today. This is due to the fact that research dealing with the structure of compounds and chemical bonding has been greatly intensified in recent years. Additionally, organometallic compounds have been widely utilized in catalysis, organic synthesis, electronics, etc. This book is based on my lectures concerning basic organometallic chemistry for fourth and fifth year chemistry students and on my lectures concerning advanced organometallic chemistry and homogeneous catalysis for Ph.D. graduate students. Many recent developments in the area of organometallic chemistry as weIl as homogeneous catalysis are presented. Essential research results dealing with a given class of organometallic compounds are discussed briefly. Results of physicochemical research methods of various organometallic compounds as weIl as their synthesis, properties, structures, reactivities, and applications are discussed more thoroughly. The selection of tabulated data is arbitrary because, often, it has been impossible to avoid omissions. Nevertheless, these data can be very helpful in understanding properties of organometaIlic compounds and their reactivities. All physical data are given in SI units; the interatomic distances are given in pm units in figures and tables. I am indebted to Professor S. A. Duraj for translating and editing this book. His remarks, discussions, and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I also express gratitude to Virginia E. Duraj for editing and proofreading.

Book Concise Chemistry of the Elements

Download or read book Concise Chemistry of the Elements written by S C Siekierski and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2002-10-01 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Periodic Table of the Elements is the most widely used basis for systematic discussion of inorganic chemistry. Two experienced chemists encapsulate their knowledge and teaching experience in this succinct text, suitable for both undergraduate and post-graduate courses. Part one explains how fundamental properties of atoms determine the chemical properties of elements, and how and why these properties change in the Periodic Table. The main properties discussed include radii and energies, ionization potentials, and electron affinities. Particular emphasis is placed on unique properties of the first s, p, and d shells, on the effects of filled 3d and 4d shells on the properties of p and d elements, and on relativistic effects in the heavy elements. The overall treatment will clarify many complex concepts. Part two presents an outline of inorganic chemistry within the framework of the Periodic Table, detailing the application and relevance of the principles set out in part one. Book Chemistry of the Main Group Elements

Download or read book Chemistry of the Main Group Elements written by Andrew Barron and published by Midas Green Innovations. This book was released on 2020-03-28 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main group elements represent the most prevalent elements in the Earth's crust, as well as most of the key elements of life, and have enormous industrial, economic, and environmental importance. In this regard an understanding of the chemistry of the main group elements is vital for students within science, engineering, and medicine; however, it is hoped that those who make political and economic decisions would make better ones (or at least more responsible ones) if they had a fraction of the knowledge of the world around them.
