Book excerpt: Today we are witnessing one of the most severe and unrelenting attempts at Christian persecution in church history. It’s happening in our time—in our modern era—and on our watch. It’s happening across the globe—from Syria to Sudan, from Nigeria to North Korea. This isn’t time for us to dedicate one day a year to pray for our brothers and sisters in the persecuted church. This type of crisis happens once in a millennium, and it demands that we pray as we never have before, because we are one with our brothers and sisters in harm’s way. We should pray as we hope others would pray for us if we were the ones sitting defenseless in the middle of the path of persecution. We Are One is a 40-day devotional prayer guide for today’s persecuted church. It’s not enough to offer vague prayers for our brothers and sisters who face life-threatening situations in the Middle East and beyond. We need to pray with information, with purpose, and with confidence. This guide can inspire you and your family to do just that, with incredible stories of courage and strength, faith and hope within its pages. Spend the next 40 days being inspired, challenged, and encouraged. Spend the next 40 days praying for the persecuted church.

Book excerpt: People have sought Truth in many places and in every way imaginable. Yet, despite (and because of) all our external searching, we have not learned the obvious—that We are the Truth we are seeking, and that the memory of who we are will satisfy all our other needs and desires. We Are One: Using Intuition to Awaken to Truth appeals to all people who have found that the achievement of health, romance and success are not enough to inspire meaning in their lives, and to health practitioners who now have very little time to know their patients. The book's simple four-step template can be used as effortlessly for making a decision as for experiencing God. The reader will learn how to find their own truth within themselves, check the veracity other people's information, heal themselves, and remove any blocks to living a fully authentic and spiritual life. Written by Helen D. Vandeman, M.Ed., a dynamic speaker who has presented at conferences in the United States and abroad, We Are One combines the wisdom of mystics with the evidence of scientists to give intuition its rightful place in our lives.

Book excerpt: Praise for We Are One: "Is there a more fulfilling way to deal with Christianity than by perceiving humankind as foundationally sinful, separate, and in dire need of salvation? Or are all of us embraced, accepted, and received by the love of a God that knows no separation or duality -- only oneness? "In the dynamic series of essays that form the exciting and visceral new book, We Are One: A Challenge to Traditional Christianity, Ellwood Norquist presents us with a wisdom-filled paradigm of new thought. "To answer this age-old question, Mr. Norquist, noted philosopher and teacher, has written a compassionate group of essays that raise the questions, discuss the issues, and share the answers." -- Richard Fuller, Senior Editor Metaphysical Review "This is a book that will suggest to the reader the possibilities for new ideas to shape themselves from old and well-defined images and orthodoxies. "Ellwood Norquist draws from a variety of disciplines and resources to point the reader in a direction that will assist in defining humankind as foundationally divine, in union with its Creator, and already saved with the simple suggestion that all we need to do is 'wake up' (much like Alice did in Wonderland) to the notion that we really never did leave the Garden." -- Dr. P. David Wilkinson, Pastor of St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church in Tucson, Arizona

Book excerpt: New York Times bestseller What is Jesus worth to you? It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily... But who do you know who lives like that? Do you? In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus. Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment -- a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.

Download or read book Together We Are One written by Thich Nhat Hanh and published by Parallax Press. This book was released on 2006-05-09 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on four retreats that Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh led specifically for people of color, this book is for people of all colors, backgrounds, and experiences who have ever felt excluded or alienated, or anyone concerned with issues of social justice. Although Together We Are One is based on teachings given to Buddhist practitioners of color, readers of all backgrounds and walks of life will find it an inspirational and practical guide. In chapters focusing on honoring our ancestors, developing understanding and compassion, and seeing the world in terms of interbeing, Nhat Hanh shows how meditation and the practice of looking deeply can help create a sense of wholeness and connectedness with others. Chapters are interspersed with mindfulness practice exercises and the personal stories of skilled writers, such as Larry Ward (author of Love’s Garden), Sr. Chan Khong (author of Learning True Love), and Rev. Hilda Ryumon Gutierrez Baldoquin (editor of Dharma Color and Culture), about their discovery of a spiritual path, their experience of finding balance, overcoming obstacles in an unpredictable world, and maintaining and sharing insights. Together We Are One is a valuable addition to the unique expression of Buddhism in the West. As in all his writings, Thich Nhat Hanh does not suggest we replace traditional beliefs and customs with Buddhism, but rather emphasizes that a mindful approach to daily life and interactions can help overcome misperception and separation so that we might honor and transcend our differences. Nhat Hanh’s primary focus highlights the basic how-to’s of Buddhist practice, such as mindful walking and eating, the practice of Looking Deeply, and a never before published multicultural version of the Touching the Earth Ceremony, making them accessible possibilities for a better everyday life. A companion movie to the book, featuring Thich Nhat Hanh's retreat, can be found at www.colorsofcompassionmovie.com

Book Beloved We Are One

  • Author : Lee McEachern
  • Publisher : Author House
  • Release : 2013-07-01

Download or read book Beloved We Are One written by Lee McEachern and published by Author House. This book was released on 2013-07-01 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1996, during a period of questioning and evaluating his life up to that date, Lee McEachern took to heart spiritual writings he had read which emphasized the fastest way to lasting love, real peace, and happinessand maybe even Godwas through the eternal flame of love and something happened. Lee felt like he was just a regular guy, but he had experienced something extraordinary that was out of this world and absolutely beyond words. Trusting in the Beloved (with a capital B), he made a connection to a Oneness of Love, then he spent three years creating his own spiritual writings (something that he had never done before) trying to describe the peace, love, and joy that he had glimpsed. He felt he knew that it resided at the center of our beingat the center of the being of everyone and everything. He knew the Beloved was in all of us. What if I can get them to see a spark of that infinitely loving Oneness? he thought. But after three years of teaching Oneness poetry, he stopped or at least tried to, because the normal, regular, real world needed his attention. His wife and son needed his attention. In early 2013 Lee read Dr. Eben Alexanders book, Proof of Heaven. His fascinating and strong message of an infinitely loving Oneness that is here now...and more real than anything we can perceive with our physical senses...made Lee think of his own teaching Oneness poetry. In his book Dr. Alexander wrote, We are connected as One through our divine link with God. Lee thought, His whole book resonates with what I experienced and what I was trying to describe back in the 90s. If a well educated, well respected neurosurgeon and scientist can stick his neck out and share his unorthodox oneness-of-love experience, then I will too! So, Lee dusted off the old poems, added a few newer ones (remember, he said he tried to stop!). and here you have Beloved, we are One. (Thank you, Dr. Alexander, for giving me the nudge I needed to move forward. Lee)
