Book Arrogant and Conceited People

Download or read book Arrogant and Conceited People written by Nicolas Petrusi and published by . This book was released on 2015-03-22 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arrogance and conceitedness appear in many different forms, and unfortunately, your life will certainly have its share of encounters with difficult and haughty people. You can sometimes minimize your contact with people who rub you the wrong way, but other times it can be in your best interest to learn how to interact with these individuals (or choose to confront and stand up to them). In this book, I'm going to provide you with knowledge, including some powerful psychological tools and practical approaches to better deal with arrogant and conceited people. You will also become aware of "situational arrogance," which may actually be an indication that you're doing something right, and the more you push through it, the more confidence you will gain. You see, dealing with an arrogant person usually forces you to take a long introspective look at yourself and your own insecurities. There are things you unknowingly do that attract the attention and, eventually, the disparagement of arrogant people. By better understanding this, you will also be able to decide when it shouldn't matter to you how much they esteem you, since they are operating from a cracked frame of reference. Appropriately dealing with these type of people begins with productive introspection, and similarly, should end with it. You should come to view this challenge as an opportunity for self-improvement. Perhaps you have arrogant tendencies of your own. Or maybe there are aspects of your own worldview that are overly fragile and worthy of reevaluation. In any case, my hope for you is that you use this book not only to learn how to feel more confident when dealing with arrogance in others, but also as an attempt to learn more about yourself through this experience. It's a win-win situation, so let's get started!

Book A Dictionary Persian Arabic and English

Download or read book A Dictionary Persian Arabic and English written by Francis Johnson and published by . This book was released on 1852 with total page 848 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dispelling our most cherished myths about work-family balance, Suzanne Venker argues in The Two-Income Trap that women who want to get married and have children will find their home lives less chaotic and far more satisfying by making motherhood, not career, their primary focus. The premise of The Two-Income Trap: Why Parents Are Choosing to Stay Home is that childrearing is no longer recognized for the enormous undertaking it is. Having it all is an impossible goal for anyone, male or female. The needs of children dont allow two married parents the freedom to dedicate themselves fully to something else. Its time to shift our paradigm. There is value in pursuing both work and family; but prioritizing family over career, and being realistic with ones goals, is the only way women can be successful at both. The Two-Income Trap does two things: helps elevates the status of parents at home, and helps mothers who want to be employed create a life that works.

Book Superiority Conceit in Buddhist Traditions

Download or read book Superiority Conceit in Buddhist Traditions written by Bhikkhu Analayo and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2021-02-09 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Renowned scholar-monk writes accessibly on some of the most contentious topics in Buddhism—guaranteed to ruffle some feathers. Armed with his rigorous examination of the canonical records, respected scholar-monk Bhikkhu Analayo explores—and sharply criticizes—four examples of what he terms “superiority conceit” in Buddhism: the androcentric tendency to prevent women from occupying leadership roles, be these as fully ordained monastics or as advanced bodhisattvas the Mahayana notion that those who don’t aspire to become bodhisattvas are inferior practitioners the Theravada belief that theirs is the most original expression of the Buddha’s teaching the Secular Buddhist claim to understand the teachings of the Buddha more accurately than traditionally practicing Buddhists Ven. Analayo challenges the scriptural basis for these conceits and points out that adhering to such notions of superiority is not, after all, conducive to practice. “It is by diminishing ego, letting go of arrogance, and abandoning conceit that one becomes a better Buddhist,” he reminds us, “no matter what tradition one may follow.” Thoroughly researched, Superiority Conceit in Buddhist Traditions provides an accessible approach to these conceits as academic subjects. Readers will find it not only challenges their own intellectual understandings but also improves their personal practice.
