Book The Argument for a Third Testament

Download or read book The Argument for a Third Testament written by Paul Booth and published by . This book was released on 2005-09-01 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the four chapters of this book are presented the argument for another Testament of the Lord's Word. It opens the mind of the reader that there have been four prior Churches established on earth by the Lord - the Most Ancient, the Ancient, the Israelitish / Jewish, and the Christian - and that in each of them God gave them His Word - the Spoken Word, the (written) Ancient Word, Old Testament, and the New Testament - so that they can be taught of God and be instructed in the good of life by Him. One sees that though these Churches had the Lord's Word, they all 'fell' from their love to the Lord and came to falsified the truth in these various Testaments or Covenants of the Word. It is shown that because mankind in the Most Ancient Church had lost conjunction with Jehovah (the Lord), that man could only learn of the Lord through his (own) understanding and so, there was only the Lord's presence with man and no longer conjunction. Thus, the man distorts the truth according to his own will; no longer is it according to the Lord's will, and eventually the man in these Churches comes to destroy the truth, and thus, these Churches, even the Christian Church has come to its end. In this book is revealed that through the fulfillment of the Lord coming into the spiritual world there has now come a new Word - the Word of the Divine Human (the glorified risen Lord) - and that through it a New (Christian) Church is now being established here on earth.

Book God Divided You Can t

Download or read book God Divided You Can t written by Henry Aikondion Idonije and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arius and Athanasius began the doctrine of Trinity in 300 AD, but the Pope, Bishops and Church dignitaries settled it in 451 AD and the Trinitarian Doctrine was etched in stones. The OT prophets, the scribes and teachers had the foundational truth of One God and all their messages were from Yahweh, the One God of Israel. Christ maintained that He was sent from the One God and did His will by His spirit upon Him. Apart from the spirit of God, Jesus did nothing. (Jn.5:30) The Apostles received of the same spirit of God that was on Christ and they too adhered to the One God. The Father sent His Son by His spirit and the Son, the Apostles and us by the same spirit of God. Trinity is a blasphemy of God. Right from the moment I could talk and reason, I knew that my life has a purpose. When I became a minister, I began an association with God and I came to realize that He is One and not three. There are few people who took a stand against the doctrine of Trinity and I have answered the call of their hearts by writing this book. The scripture stands alone and this book agrees with it. I have joined my voice in saying that the Lord our God is One God and in Him there is no splits or division. I say with Christ, the Prophets, the Apostles, the godly Church Fathers who were martyred on account of this and who loved the Lord: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is One Lord". The Law and the Prophets spoke in one voice, the salutations of the Authors of the Epistles spoke in one voice and all the OT & NT saints agreed with them that the spirit of God is God Himself according to 1Cor.2:11.

Book Defending Substitution Acadia Studies in Bible and Theology

Download or read book Defending Substitution Acadia Studies in Bible and Theology written by Simon Gathercole and published by Baker Academic. This book was released on 2015-05-12 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent decades, the church and academy have witnessed intense debates concerning the concept of penal substitution to describe Christ's atoning sacrifice. Some claim it promotes violence, glorifies suffering and death, and amounts to divine child abuse. Others argue it plays a pivotal role in classical Christian doctrine. Here world-renowned New Testament scholar Simon Gathercole offers an exegetical and historical defense of the traditional substitutionary view of the atonement. He provides critical analyses of various interpretations of the atonement and places New Testament teaching in its Old Testament and Greco-Roman contexts, demonstrating that the interpretation of atonement in the Pauline corpus must include substitution.

Book Bias in New Testament Translations

Download or read book Bias in New Testament Translations written by and published by . This book was released on 2010-05-15 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the founding of the first Christian church in Jerusalem, there have been those who have argued that Jesus Christ was not God. This attack on the Person of Jesus has been a part of history throughout the life of the church. In recent years, a prominent group consistently denying the deity of Christ has been the Jehovah's Witnesses. In their effort to promote their views, and to appeal to the New Testament to deny that Jesus is God, they produced their own translation of the Bible known as the New World Translation. Arguments have raged back and forth about the faithfulness of the New World Translation to the Greek text.Recently, a voice has been raised in support of the New World Translation. That voice is Jason BeDuhn. In his book, "Truth in Translation," BeDuhn examines several modern translations of the New Testament focusing on several passages that touch on the deity of Christ. In each of these passages BeDuhn comes out in favor of the New World Translation over all the modern translations he considers. Indeed, his final conclusion is that the New World Translation is the best of these modern translations. In this critical evaluation, BeDuhn's arguments are challenged and his conclusions called into question. Ultimately the reader will find that modern translations of the New Testament do not distort or mishandle these important biblical passages which consistently teach that Jesus is God in the flesh.

Book excerpt: Over the centuries since it was written, the validity, the authenticity, and the authority of the Bible has been challenged and diminished, largely due to unfaithfulness within the very institution to which we have been told are the "keepers" of the Word of God. The church, as we have called it for the past two thousand years, has proven itself ineffective and ill equipped to teach the whole truth from the Word of God. When the Bible is taught, it is seldom an in-depth exploration and usually only within their denominational limitations. Throughout history, the church has been more interested in promoting the organization, the hierarchy, and the institution rather than the truths that are found within the pages of the Bible. The world recognizes the fact that science has made leaps and bounds toward further discovery about our world over the past few centuries. Christendom however is viewed as still being back in the Stone Age concerning the knowledge it promotes and teaches, and unfortunately, I am forced to agree somewhat with this assessment. There have been pockets of truth seekers over the centuries, but overall, there has been little advancement of knowledge in the religion of Christianity concerning what we know about God and His plans for the world. There was some progress made at the time of the reformation, a voice finally existed outside of the strong arm of the establishment, but sadly not enough reform occurred. I firmly believe that the Bible needs to be understood by means of an intellectual endeavor. The mysterious and mystical mind-set that the church has promoted over the centuries has done a disservice to believers. It's time we jump into the twenty first century, and like any other intellectual undertaking, base our faith on the truth of Scripture and the facts of history, not on the religious ideas that have come to us by the men of antiquity. The history of mankind shows us that the thing that has always empowered people in a society is knowledge. Since knowledge of a subject can only come through study, Biblical knowledge over the early centuries came hard for the masses due to rank illiteracy. In our modern, enlightened, and literate culture however, we have little excuse for the rampant Biblical ignorance that exists. We have been told to defer to the so-called experts on a subject as complex as Biblical understanding, but when we do this; we are potentially subjecting ourselves to the thoughts and ideas of men instead of the thoughts and ideas of God. The arguments against the theology I put forth in this book are based on the fact that instead of promoting it, it breaks down and dismantles the religion of Christianity. This is found to be very distasteful to most Christians who have been involved in church for, perhaps their whole lives. I know that it is difficult to separate our relationships with God from our relationships with church, but this is the very thing that is needed in order to reach maturity in Christ. We don't have to leave church to do this but we do need to have our attitude changed. We are taught in church not to listen to voices that lie outside of our circles. We are told that we could be led down the road of error if we do so. I believe this is a just a method of keeping people in subjection to the doctrine of a particular denomination as they strive for the uniformity I mentioned. Knowledge brings truth, and the Truth shall set you free! Let us always be willing to be open to new and different scriptural ideas. Let us be always traveling down that road of discovery, the discovery of the things God would have us know from studying His Word. Come; follow along on this journey of discovery. Come with an open mind, just as you did when you came to faith in Christ in the first place. Come with a heart that wants a more full, a more real, and a more honest relationship with God.

Book Divine Truth or Human Tradition

Download or read book Divine Truth or Human Tradition written by Patrick Navas and published by Author House. This book was released on 2011-07-07 with total page 617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Divine Truth or Human Tradition? the author critically examines the viewpoints and Scripture expositions of prominent evangelical scholars and apologistsincluding Dr. James R. White (author of The Forgotten Trinity), Dr. John MacArthur (President of The Master?s Seminary), Wayne Grudem (author of the widely-read Systematic Theology), Robert Morey (author of The Trinity, Evidence and Issues), Robert L. Reymond (author of A New Systematic Theology of the Christian Faith), and others According to what has long been considered mainstream Christian orthodoxy, the doctrine of the Trinity (the idea that the one God of the Bible is a singular being made up of three coequal and coeternal persons?) is not only central to the Christian faith, but even necessary for one to accept in order to be counted as a true Christian and be saved. Such a demand on a Christian?s faith has come across as strange and perplexing to many, especially so in light of the fact pointed out by one respected Trinitarian: [The Trinity] is not clearly or explicitly taught anywhere in Scripture, yet it is widely regarded as a central doctrine, indispensable to the Christian faith. In this regard, it goes contrary to what is virtually an axiom [that is, a given, a self-evident truth] of biblical doctrine, namely, that there is a direct correlation between the scriptural clarity of a doctrine and its cruciality to the faith and life of the church. (Millard J. Erickson, God in Three Persons, p. 11. Emphasis added) Understandably, this fact has raised questions in the minds of Christians and truth-seekers alike ever since the doctrine was first articulated in the late 4th century. Many Christians have wondered: How can a doctrine that is not clearly or explicitly taught in the Bible be necessary to accept in order to be a true practitioner of the Christian faith?

Book Reprobation and God s Sovereignty

Download or read book Reprobation and God s Sovereignty written by Peter Sammons and published by Kregel Publications. This book was released on 2022-01-25 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God's right to judge humanity is written on the very fabric of human existence The doctrine of reprobation--that is, the eternal, unconditional decree of God for the non-elect--is frequently misconstrued in both pastoral and theological literature. In Reprobation and God's Sovereignty, Peter Sammons reintroduces this oft-misunderstood doctrine, revealing its relationship to divine sovereignty. With Romans 9 as a guiding text, Sammons presents a thoroughly researched defense of reprobation as an essential part in a Reformed theology that magnifies God and encourages believers to trust in him. Reprobation and God's Sovereignty clearly defines and demonstrates from Scripture the foundational terms and doctrines required for properly understanding reprobation, such as: God's justice Election Compatibilism Secondary causality Preterition Predamnation Understanding these theological ideas proves vital to answering life's all-important question, "Who is God?" Sammons shows how the doctrine of reprobation leads to a greater admiration for God, eliciting higher praise, reverence, and belief in him.
