Book Can Christians Prove the Resurrection

Download or read book Can Christians Prove the Resurrection written by Sandoval Chris Sandoval and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2010 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christian apologists like Josh McDowell, Norman Geisler, and William Lane Craig have claimed that the Resurrection of Jesus is the best-proved fact of history. As they tell the story, the original eyewitnesses of the risen Jesus sacrificed their lives for their faith, and people who knew Jesus during his lifetime would have challenged any errors in their testimony. Allegedly, these and many other lines of historical evidence prove the Resurrection beyond a reasonable doubt. In Can Christians Prove the Resurrection?, the traditional Christian arguments for the Resurrection are analyzed and critiqued. In reality, we do not know how most of the apostles met their fates, and religious sects like the Kimbanguists and Hasidic Jews have likewise proclaimed miracles and produced martyrs within the lifetimes of eyewitnesses who should have been able to set the record straight. These and many other lines of evidence raise copious reasonable doubts regarding the claims of the apologists, as this book demonstrates. Once all the relevant evidence is examined, it becomes clear that there is little likelihood that Jesus of Nazareth arose from the dead or that the Resurrection ever took place.

Book Trial of the Witnesses of the Resurrection of Jesus

Download or read book Trial of the Witnesses of the Resurrection of Jesus written by Thomas Sherlock and published by Good Press. This book was released on 2020-03-16 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Trial of the Witnesses of the Resurrection of Jesus" by Thomas Sherlock was written as a courtroom-like case about the resurrection of Jesus. Written in response to Woolston's claims of the matter, this book took a more agnostic approach that presented facts and evidence that, perhaps, the biblical story isn't quite as realistic as many prominent deists to this day might lead one to believe.

Book Did Jesus Rise From the Dead

Download or read book Did Jesus Rise From the Dead written by Gary R. Habermas and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2003-12-04 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: [This] is the most important question regarding the claims of the Christian faith. Certainly no question in modern religious history demands more attention or interest, as witnessed by the vast body of literature dealing with the Resurrection. James I. Packer says it well in his response to this debate: 'When Christians are asked to make good their claim that this scheme is truth, they point to Jesus' resurrection. The Easter event, so they affirm, demonstrated Jesus' deity; validated his teaching; attested to the completion of his work of atonement for sin; confirms his present cosmic dominion and coming reappearance as Judge; assures us that his personal pardon, presence, and power in people's lives today is fact; and guarantees each believer's own reembodiment by Resurrection in the world to come.' The Apostle Paul considered the Resurrection to be the cornerstone of the Christian faith. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, the whole structure, Christianity, collapses. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:14-17, 'And if Christ has not been raised, 'our preaching is useless and so is you faith.' More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God. . . . And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile [emphasis added].' The Christian faith-and its claim to be Truth-exists only if Jesus rose from the dead. The heart of Christianity is a living Christ.

Book The Argument for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Argument for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ Classic Reprint written by Thomas Harvey Skinner and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-08-30 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Argument for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ Now, according to the Scriptures, this enigmatical life and voluntary death of Christ are of the very essence of Christianity; and yet peculiar and marvellous as were that life and that death, had the career of Christ closed with his burial, there could have been no intelligible Old Testament, no New Testament, no Church, no Christendom, no hope of heaven, no salvation for man. 1 His name would speedily have perished from among men. A dead Christ could not make a living religion. A crucified Christ, mouldering in the tomb, never could have moved and shaken to its centre and revolutionised the Roman Empire, and on the ruins of its idolatry and pagan civilisation built up his toric Christendom. A dead Christ could awaken neither faith, nor hope, nor zeal, nor sacrifice in his cause. Nothing but disi appointment, dismay, and despair on the part of his friends would follow his final destruction. His death would be a death blow to any religion he might have proclaimed in his life.
