Book Jesus His Story in Stone

Download or read book Jesus His Story in Stone written by Mike Mason and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2017-09-25 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus: His Story in Stone is a reflection on still-existing stone objects that Jesus would have known, seen, or even touched. Each of the seventy short chapters is accompanied by a photograph taken on location in Israel. Arranged chronologically, the one-page meditations compose a portrait of Christ as seen through the significant stones in His life, from the cave where He was born to the rock of Calvary. While packed with historical and archaeological detail, the book’s main thrust is devotional, leading the reader both spiritually and physically closer to Jesus.

Download or read book Echoes of a Prophet written by Gary T. Manning Jr. and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2004-12-01 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Echoes of a Prophet examines intertextual connections to Ezekiel found in John and in Second Temple literature. The Dead Sea Scrolls contain many allusions to a number of Ezekiel's oracles, while other Second Temple works refer to only a few of Ezekiel's oracles, and those only rarely. In each case, Manning examines the evidence for the presence of the allusions, studies the implied interpretational methods, and comments on the function of the allusion in advancing the author's ideas. He also analyzes John's allusions to Ezekiel: the good shepherd, the vine, the opened heavens, imagery from the "dry bones" vision, and water symbolism. He observes that John has a few unique tendencies: he alludes to all five of Ezekiel's "oracles of hope" and primarily uses that imagery to describe the giving of the Holy Spirit and new life through Jesus.

Book The Stone Vessel Industry in the Second Temple Period

Download or read book The Stone Vessel Industry in the Second Temple Period written by Izchak Magen and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hundreds of chalk stone vessels have been found during excavations at Second Temple period sites within Jerusalem. Originally linked to Jewish religious laws where the vessels were used in religious ceremonies concerned with purity, they eventually became everyday domestic vessels. This volume reports on the discovery of a quarry and workshops at Hizma, northeast of Jerusalem, which provided important evidence on production techniques and chronology, showing the vessels to have been produced between the later 1st century BC and c.70AD until the destruction of Jerusalem. This in turn enabled a typology to be constructed. The distribution of chalk stone vessels is also mapped. This book is an upated English version of an earlier book published in Hebrew in 1976 by Magen, and includes up-to-date evidence from recent excavations.

Book Understanding End Times Prophecy

Download or read book Understanding End Times Prophecy written by Paul Benware and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2006-05-01 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Christians think of end times prophecy as a gigantic, intimidating puzzle -- difficult to piece together and impossible to figure out. But every puzzle can be solved if you approach it the right way. Paul Benware compares prophecy to a picture puzzle. Putting the edge pieces together first builds the 'framework' that makes it easier to fit the other pieces in their place. According to Benware, the framework for eschatology is the biblical covenants. He begins his comprehensive survey by explaining the major covenants. Then he discusses several different interpretations of end times prophecy. Benware digs into the details of the Rapture, the Great Tribulation, the judgements and resurrections, and the millennial kingdom. But he also adds a unique, personal element to the study, answering questions as: -Why study bible prophecy? -What difference does it make if I'm premillenial or amillenial? If what the Bible says about the future puzzles you, Understanding End Times Prophecy will help you put together the pieces and see the big picture.

Book excerpt: The Bible is filled with mysteries. Along with the clear and obvious declarations in the Scriptures, there are also thousands of hidden and partially hidden symbolic meanings. Some original word meanings were lost in translation from the Hebrew and Greek, as this book reveals. Many other powerful symbolic statements were also divinely interwoven into the text. As with Jesus parables, only those with eyes to see and ears to hear could understand them. Yet all born-again believers have these spiritual eyes and ears, and they are able to see and hear things that the Holy Spirit has already revealed in the Scriptures.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the year 2000, Dr. Ernest Martin in his book The Temples that Jerusalem Forgot proposed that the Israelite Temples of God were not located on the Temple Mount which had been the location of the Roman Fortress of Antonia but to the south in the city of David. For the past 800 years, people were not sure of the correct location of the Israelite Temples. Jewish, Christian and Islamic religious authorities lost site of the true location of the former Israelite Temples of God that once stood in Jerusalem and suggested they had been on the Haram esh-Sharif or Noble Sanctuary although the Bible seems to indicate a different location. Jesus prophesied that not one stone of the Temple of King Herod I and its walls would be left upon another and that Jewish Jerusalem and its walls would be leveled to the ground. These predictions by Jesus have been fulfilled precisely. All stones have been taken away and used in other buildings or construction projects and this has resulted in the total obliteration of the former Temple of King Herod I and the city of Jerusalem. "'And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts', he [Jesus] said," "'As for these things which ye behold, the days will come in which there shall not be left one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down.'" (Luke 21:5-6)
