Book Prehistoric Britain Classic Reprint

Download or read book Prehistoric Britain Classic Reprint written by Robert Munro and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-07 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Prehistoric Britain As the word "prehistoric" has no limitation in the past history of the country, it logically follows that a treatise on "Prehistoric Britain" would have an equally wide range; but by a judicious discretion we limit the scope of this book to the period during which man was an inhabitant of Western Europe, prior to the invention of written records. But the Britain of that early period differed widely from the Britain of to-day both in climate and geographical area, and to some extent in its flora and fauna. Consequently our first duty is to describe with as much precision as modern researches will admit of, but very briefly, the physical conditions which obtained in prehistoric Britain when it comes within the above-defined scope of the present work. Book Ancient Man In Britain With Foreword By G Elliot Smith F R S

This book was released on 2020-09-30 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ancient Man In Britain: With Foreword By G. Elliot Smith, F.R.S. This book is a result of an effort made by us towards making a contribution to the preservation and repair of original classic literature. In an attempt to preserve, improve and recreate the original content, we have worked towards: 1. Type-setting & Reformatting: The complete work has been re-designed via professional layout, formatting and type-setting tools to re-create the same edition with rich typography, graphics, high quality images, and table elements, giving our readers the feel of holding a 'fresh and newly' reprinted and/or revised edition, as opposed to other scanned & printed (Optical Character Recognition - OCR) reproductions. 2. Correction of imperfections: As the work was re-created from the scratch, therefore, it was vetted to rectify certain conventional norms with regard to typographical mistakes, hyphenations, punctuations, blurred images, missing content/pages, and/or other related subject matters, upon our consideration. Every attempt was made to rectify the imperfections related to omitted constructs in the original edition via other references. However, a few of such imperfections which could not be rectified due to intentional\unintentional omission of content in the original edition, were inherited and preserved from the original work to maintain the authenticity and construct, relevant to the work. We believe that this work holds historical, cultural and/or intellectual importance in the literary works community, therefore despite the oddities, we accounted the work for print as a part of our continuing effort towards preservation of literary work and our contribution towards the development of the society as a whole, driven by our beliefs. We are grateful to our readers for putting their faith in us and accepting our imperfections with regard to preservation of the historical content. HAPPY READING!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A New History of Great Britain Green, like every one else who tries to compress the story of England into' one volume, had to take a selective view; for instance, he emphasized, in some centuries, literary history, in others, social. There are many gaps in his narrative, due to the imperative need of compres sion and to these gaps we owe his singularly full treat ment of other parts of our history. The Short History was not a complete statement it was not meant to be such but it is the account of what struck a man who possessed both knowledge and genius, as being the most important aspects of English History. This book was released on 2018-03-22 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Britannic Researches, or New Facts and Rectifications of Ancient British History The development of our subject in recent times is certainly somewhat remarkable. Camden was the person who first arranged, with great skill, the topics of the ancient history and geography of our island from such information as his times supplied, and gave them much of their due shape and consistency. The discoveries of the two subsequent cen turies and a half afforded chiefly elucidations, and displaced comparatively little; but of late years the materials, which have been derived from the labours of modern investigators, or from other sources, are copious and striking, and often indeed so. Conclusive in the illustration they afford, as to render in many places a re-arrangement, or rather a re-con struction of the subject indispensable. The new acquisitions are required to be taken into it, and many points to be exhi bited in other lights than has been accustomed, in order to correspond with facts now ascertained, which it will accordingly be found has been done. Historical notices of the ancient British period are few and meagre; and consequently the attempt to give both a striking and truthful picture of British society has proved one of some difficulty. For to de lineate faithfully, and yet graphically, the wise Druid, the fierce British warrior, the daring hunter, and fiie unhappy slave, as each appeared in weal or woe, in war or peace, at home or abroad, requires a much larger amount of historic knowledge of the early inhabitants of this island, than has been transmitted to the present age.
