Book The Anatomy of the Human Orbit

Download or read book The Anatomy of the Human Orbit written by Samuel Ernest Whitnall and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-21 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Anatomy of the Human Orbit: And Accessory Organs of Vision The subject-matter of this work originally formed the substance of a series of lectures given to candidates for the Oxford Diploma of Ophthalmology, and is here presented in an amplified and completed form. The work has suffered many interruptions since its initiation in 1913, which must be held as an excuse for any fluctuations in the manner of its treatment. Primarily intended for the use of ophthalmologists, it is hoped that the necessary incorporation of matter relative to the neighbouring nasal region will also prove of interest to the rhinologist, and that as a regional study the whole will commend itself to the general anatomist. It was intended that the chief value of the lectures should lie in the demonstration of the large series of dissections and preparations (now in the Oxford anatomical museum) which by the kindness of Professor Arthur Thomson the author was able to make while working under him. Similarly, it is hoped that the chief feature of value in this book will be the photographic illustrations of such of these preparations as lend themselves to the purpose. For any success this object may attain I am greatly indebted to the technical skill and tireless interest of the departmental assistant, Mr. Chesterman, who took all the photographs, with the exception of Nos. 3, 23, 36, 50, 90, 97, 130, which were prepared at McGill. Book excerpt: Lavishly illustrated with layered anatomical artwork, Atlas of Clinical and Surgical Orbital Anatomy, 3rd Edition, provides a rich visual resource for ophthalmic, oculoplastic, and other surgeons to fully understand relevant orbital anatomic structures as well as their clinical and surgical correlations. Under the expert authorship of Dr. Jonathan J. Dutton, this fully revised edition demonstrates complex structures through unique illustrations and comprehensive coverage from embryology through adult anatomy, helping clinicians enhance their diagnostic and surgical expertise. Features layered anatomical illustrations that use multiple sequential artworks to display relevant structures and highlight key intricacies, as well as sectional anatomic correlations with CT and MRI. Depicts each system three-dimensionally through illustrations in frontal, lateral, and superior views, drawn from layered 150-micron histologic sections through human orbits. Discusses every anatomic system from embryology to adult anatomy and correlates individual structures with the most common clinical disorders and diseases. Includes expanded discussions in the Clinical Correlations chapter sections to include more disease conditions of interest to ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists, and plastic surgeons. Contains a new chapter on the Nasal Cavity and Paranasal Sinuses covering relevant anatomy and how these structures relate to orbital disease, trauma, and surgery. Offers a new discussion of surgical procedures and their relation to orbital anatomy, including bony orbital decompression, orbital floor fracture repair, strabismus surgery, oculocardiac reflex with EOM surgery, optic nerve fenestration, blepharoptosis, blepharoplasty, entropion, entropion, transvenous embolization for carotic-cavernous fistula, subperiosteal hematoma drainage, orbital exenteration, and more. Book Neuroimaging Anatomy Meets Function

Download or read book Neuroimaging Anatomy Meets Function written by Nivedita Agarwal and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-08-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book combines classic MR anatomy with current understanding of human brain function. Recent advances in neuroscience have highlighted the importance of correlating brain anatomy with underlying brain function, since the brain contains a highly sophisticated organization of anatomical and functional relationships that are not readily “visible” with standard imaging. The use of magnetic resonance imaging is rapidly increasing in the field of neuroscience, and remains at the forefront for offering insights into the normal and pathologic structure and function of the human brain. The relatively recent concepts of structural and functional connectivity make it even more important to visualize the brain as a whole rather than looking at its individual parts. This holistic approach is vital in understanding concepts such as neuroplasticity that are currently incorporated into physical and cognitive rehabilitation programs for patients with stroke or neurodegenerative diseases. Ultimately this combined approach may reduce both overdiagnosis and misdiagnosis when integrated into routine clinical routine. This book will be of interest to neuroradiologists, general radiologists and neurologists alike, as well as medical students, residents and fellows.

Book Surgical Anatomy Around the Orbit

Download or read book Surgical Anatomy Around the Orbit written by Barry M. Zide and published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. This book was released on 2006 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This full-color surgical atlas provides a detailed, true-to-life view of periorbital anatomy as seen during an operative procedure. More than 130 photographs of fresh cadaver dissections and more than 100 vivid drawings by an award-winning ophthalmic artist enable surgeons to thoroughly preview this complex anatomy prior to surgery. Using his popular concept of facial zones, Dr. Zide depicts the fine anatomic details necessary for today's advanced cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. A chapter on the seventh cranial nerve shows what tissue is innervated and delineates the exact zone of safety. A chapter on anatomy for facial nerve blocks is included. A bound-in CD-ROM contains the book's 238 illustrations and extensive anatomic dissections.
