Book An Approximation Theory for the Identification of Nonlinear Distributed Parameter Systems

Download or read book An Approximation Theory for the Identification of Nonlinear Distributed Parameter Systems written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-06-30 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An abstract approximation framework for the identification of nonlinear distributed parameter systems is developed. Inverse problems for nonlinear systems governed by strongly maximal monotone operators (satisfying a mild continuous dependence condition with respect to the unknown parameters to be identified) are treated. Convergence of Galerkin approximations and the corresponding solutions of finite dimensional approximating identification problems to a solution of the original finite dimensional identification problem is demonstrated using the theory of nonlinear evolution systems and a nonlinear analog of the Trotter-Kato approximation result for semigroups of bounded linear operators. The nonlinear theory developed here is shown to subsume an existing linear theory as a special case. It is also shown to be applicable to a broad class of nonlinear elliptic operators and the corresponding nonlinear parabolic partial differential equations to which they lead. An application of the theory to a quasilinear model for heat conduction or mass transfer is discussed. Banks, H. T. and Reich, Simeon and Rosen, I. G. This book was released on 1991 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A brief overview and summary of results obtained in the development, analysis, and testing of approximation theory and techniques for the identification and control of distributed parameter systems is provided. The research carried out under this grant can be classified into seven sub-headings. These include (1) the identification of nonlinear distributed parameter systems, (2) the identification and control of thermoelastic systems, (3) the identification and control of degenerate distributed parameter systems, (4) discrete-time linear quadratic control of distributed parameter systems, (5) optimal LQG control of discrete time parabolic systems, (6) optimal fixed finite order compensators for infinite dimensional systems, and (7) convergence of Galerkin approximations to operator Riccati equations. Our results in each of these areas is described separately and in turn.

Book Framework for Analysis and Identification of Nonlinear Distributed Parameter Systems using Bayesian Uncertainty Quantification based on Generalized Polynomial Chaos

Download or read book Framework for Analysis and Identification of Nonlinear Distributed Parameter Systems using Bayesian Uncertainty Quantification based on Generalized Polynomial Chaos written by Janya-anurak, Chettapong and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2017-04-04 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this work, the Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) approaches combined systematically to analyze and identify systems. The generalized Polynomial Chaos (gPC) expansion is applied to reduce the computational effort. The framework using gPC based on Bayesian UQ proposed in this work is capable of analyzing the system systematically and reducing the disagreement between the model predictions and the measurements of the real processes to fulfill user defined performance criteria.

Book Optimal Measurement Methods for Distributed Parameter System Identification

Download or read book Optimal Measurement Methods for Distributed Parameter System Identification written by Dariusz Ucinski and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2004-08-27 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For dynamic distributed systems modeled by partial differential equations, existing methods of sensor location in parameter estimation experiments are either limited to one-dimensional spatial domains or require large investments in software systems. With the expense of scanning and moving sensors, optimal placement presents a critical problem.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Control of Distributed Parameter Systems 1982 covers the proceeding of the Third International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) Symposium on Control of Distributed Parameter Systems. The book reviews papers that tackle issues concerning the control of distributed parameter systems, such as modeling, identification, estimation, stabilization, optimization, and energy system. The topics that the book tackles include notes on optimal and estimation result of nonlinear systems; approximation of the parameter identification problem in distributed parameters systems; and optimal control of a punctually located heat source. Book Estimation on Nonlinear Damping in Second Order Distributed Parameter Systems

Download or read book Estimation on Nonlinear Damping in Second Order Distributed Parameter Systems written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-02 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An approximation and convergence theory for the identification of nonlinear damping in abstract wave equations is developed. It is assumed that the unknown dissipation mechanism to be identified can be described by a maximal monotone operator acting on the generalized velocity. The stiffness is assumed to be linear and symmetric. Functional analytic techniques are used to establish that solutions to a sequence of finite dimensional (Galerkin) approximating identification problems in some sense approximate a solution to the original infinite dimensional inverse problem. Book Approximation Methods for the Identification and Control of Distributed Parameter Systems

Download or read book Approximation Methods for the Identification and Control of Distributed Parameter Systems written by I. G. Rosen and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Efforts to develop computational methods for the identification and optimal control of linear and nonlinear systems governed by distributed parameter systems are reported on. Specifically, approximation methods for determining Optimal LOG compensators (feedback control and estimator gains) and functional parameters in linear and nonlinear partial differential equations and hereditary systems were developed, analyzed and tested. The study included theoretical, experimental and numerical components. Covergence theories for spline-based and modal finite element schemes were established and extensive numerical studies on both conventional (serial) and vector supercomputers were carried out. A parameter estimation scheme was tested using experimental data taken from the RPL structure, a laboratory experiment designed to test control algorithms for the large angle slewing of spacecraft with flexible appendages, and other projects involving the identification of flexible structures based upon experimental data were initiated.
