Book Amazon com An e commerce force in Europe

Download or read book Amazon com An e commerce force in Europe written by Anthony Blint and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2019-05-22 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bachelor Thesis from the year 2019 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, grade: 1,7, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, language: English, abstract: Initially selling books online, the US company Amazon.com, Inc. has been transformed into a major online retailer over the course of its existence by providing its services to millions of customers around the world. Customer loyalty has always been essential to the success of a business, but never as much before as in the digital age. The associated customer loyalty programs are now an indispensable medium in the marketing world. Amazon is one of the most frequently mentioned examples of customer loyalty measures in general and in the world of e-commerce, in particular through its established premium program. Private labels and retailers take advantage of the multiple capabilities of the Amazon.com e-commerce platform, thereby increasing their sales and reaching new customers. Amazon's evolution from a website to an e-commerce partner and on to a development platform is driven by the spirit of innovation that is part of the company’s DNA of the company. The smartest minds in the world of technology come to Amazon.com to explore and develop technologies that make life easier for buyers, sellers, and developers around the world. The author objectifies Amazon's subjective claim of being a customer-centric company and identifies key-areas of customer- centricity by applying theoretical concepts of that topic to the company itself, resulting in an assessment of Amazons degree of customer centricity and giving readers a better understanding of the meaning and historical development of the concept.

Book E Commerce in Times of Amazon Chances and Risks for E tailers

Download or read book E Commerce in Times of Amazon Chances and Risks for E tailers written by Samuel Weihrauch and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2021-07-26 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2018 in the subject Business economics - Trade and Distribution, grade: 1,00, Cologne University of Applied Sciences (Informatik), course: Web Science / E-Commerce, language: English, abstract: The internet has revolutionised the way people shop and electronic commerce has reshaped the retail landscape dramatically. It suddenly allowed small companies to reach out to millions of potential customers and lowered market entry barriers significantly in areas where once only big retail companies competed against each other. But the times when small companies could create online shops and compete with the big players are almost over yet again, and Amazon catalyses this change by seizing a growing share of the whole online retail market. Every second dollar spent online in the US is already spent on the Amazon.com marketplace and the trend in the German market is going in the same direction. The fact that a significant number of overall online sales are generated on the Amazon marketplace impacts other e-tailers. They must react to market concentration and consider whether or not they want to sell their products on Amazon. There are many opportunities and risks that can result from cooperation with Amazon but there is a lack of papers and books that consider both aspects at the same time, quantifying them, weighing each up against the other, and deriving conclusions from it. The aim of this thesis is to close the aforementioned gap in available literature by presenting the current market situation in the e-commerce and analysing the signs of a further market concentration, in order to provide evidence of the problematic situation small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) are in. The thesis then examines the option of cooperating with Amazon as a possible solution to react on this trend and therefore researches the possible chances and risks that could arise through such cooperation. Those insights are thereafter incorporated into a strategic recommendation for e-tailers who consider selling on Amazon. Furthermore, a selling guide which was evaluated in practice, depicts how a company could sell products successfully on the marketplace. In the end, this thesis should contribute to e-tailers’ knowledge about the current and future market situation in e-commerce. In addition, the insights presented should support e-tailers’ decision making process when they are confronted with the question of cooperating with the e-commerce giant or not.

Book excerpt: Amazon is everywhere. In our mailboxes, in delivery vans clogging our streets, in an increasing portion of our air traffic, in our grocery stores, on our televisions, in our smart home devices, and in the infrastructure powering many of the websites we visit. Amazon’s tendrils touch the majority of online retail transactions in the United States and in many other countries. As Amazon changes the face of capitalist business, it is also changing global culture in multiple ways. This book brings together some of the most important analyses of Amazon’s pioneering business practices and how they intersect with and affect the components of everyday culture. Its contributors examine the political economy of Amazon’s platform, making the argument that it operates as an unregulated monopoly that is disruptive to the global economy and that its infrastructure and logistical operations increasingly alienate its workers and wreak many other social harms. Our contributors outline the practices of resistance that have been employed by organizers ranging from Amazon employees to artists to digital piecemeal laborers working on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk platform. They examine the broader cultural impact that Amazon has had, looking at things like Amazon Prime and the creation of unending consumption, the absorption of Whole Foods and its brand of ‘conscious capitalism,’ and the impact of Amazon Studios and Prime Video on everyday film and television viewing practices. This book examines the broader environmental impacts that Amazon is having on the world, looking at the slow violence it incurs, its underwhelming Climate Pledge, and the regional impacts that its business practices have. Lastly, this book gathers together some important artistic responses to Amazon for the first time in an appendix that offers readers insight into other ways in which critics of the company are making their voices heard and attempting to move broader audiences into solidarity against Amazon.

Book Spinning Amazon s Flywheel

Download or read book Spinning Amazon s Flywheel written by Damien Geradin and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Amazon is the largest e-commerce platform in many nations and its revenues have grown consistently over many years. Although Amazon has been subject to some antitrust investigations, competition law still has not fully grappled with the anticompetitive effects of Amazon's business model, which has the Prime membership bundle of products at its core. For a long time, the prevailing consensus has been that Amazon is consumer-friendly because it drives down prices, speeds up delivery times and offers a bundle of attractive products through its Prime membership programme. This may still be superficially correct if viewed through the narrow prism of the consumer welfare standard with a focus on price. However, Amazon's strategy is more problematic if we consider the aggregate effects of its various interlinked practices, and if we believe that the role of competition law is to protect a competitive market structure. Such a stance is closer to the approach taken in the EU than the US in recent years, but US progressives are now also seeking to evolve the enforcement of antitrust law.Against this background, this paper has two objectives. First, it seeks to show that Amazon's problematic conduct, although diverse in nature and covering several distinct markets, includes vertical integration and the acquisition of rivals, exclusionary conduct, and the imposition of unfair trade terms and conditions. Second, with a focus on EU and UK law, it seeks to show that these problems require a combination of ex ante intervention (legislation such as the EU's Digital Markets Act and the UK's forthcoming Digital Markets, Competition and Consumer Bill and tighter merger control) and ex post intervention (tighter control of abusive conduct).

Book Entering New Markets and Diversifying Business

Download or read book Entering New Markets and Diversifying Business written by Stefan Schmid and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: E-commerce has grown considerably in recent decades and has had a disruptive impact on the retail industry. In this context, Amazon, one of the major players in (online) retailing and beyond, has been able to expand its business activities continuously in many countries. The present case study sheds light on the internationalization of Amazon, with a particular focus on the company’s acquisitions. The study illustrates that Amazon’s acquisitions over the last decades had two major objectives. First, acquisitions helped Amazon enter new markets and strengthen its presence in specific regions. Second, taking over other companies allowed Amazon to broaden its activities, for instance, by expanding the product portfolio, improving customer service, gaining additional knowledge and expertise or by opening up new business areas.

Book How to Resist Amazon and Why

Download or read book How to Resist Amazon and Why written by Danny Caine and published by Microcosm Publishing. This book was released on 2022-09-20 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When a company's workers are literally dying on the job, when their business model relies on preying on local businesses and even their own vendors, when their CEO is the richest person in the world while their workers make low wages with impossible quotas... wouldn't you want to resist? Danny Caine, owner of Raven Book Store in Lawrence, Kansas has been an outspoken critic of the seemingly unstoppable Goliath of the bookselling world: Amazon. In this book, he lays out the case for shifting our personal money and civic investment away from global corporate behemoths and to small, local, independent businesses. Well-researched and lively, his tale covers the history of big box stores, the big political drama of delivery, and the perils of warehouse work. He shows how Amazon's ruthless discount strategies mean authors, publishers, and even Amazon themselves can lose money on every book sold. And he spells out a clear path to resistance, in a world where consumers are struggling to get by. In-depth research is interspersed with charming personal anecdotes from bookstore life, making this a readable, fascinating, essential book for the 2020s.

The impact of pricing on organizations is a result of two factors: pricing strategy development and the implementation of these strategies. Implementation is arguably the most difficult part in the pricing strategy process where even seasoned practitioners demand guidance. Pricing strategy development requires creativity, analytical rigor, and an ability to master the internal political competition for scarce resources, but it takes place in a well-defined environment. Fast forward to strategy implementation: competitors that stubbornly fail to behave according to assumptions, new entrants, internal resistance, new opportunities, changing customer preferences, leadership changes, regulatory interventions, or market growth rates that change unexpectedly are some of the intervening variables between the pricing strategy originally developed and the strategy actually implemented. Book Electronic commerce and digital services

Download or read book Electronic commerce and digital services written by Júlio César Parente Patrocínio and published by Editora Dialética. This book was released on 2023-07-07 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT HAS NO BOUNDARIES. A new business model, product or technological service emerges all the time. Along with the facilitation and solutions brought by technological development, new problems, conflicts and litigation in social and economic relations also arise. Laws of several countries are not often able to keep up with the digital dynamism. Furthermore, there is not a consensus in international trade organisations on the concept of digital services and electronic commerce. That is the scenario in which the European Union has constantly developed rules to regulate the digital environment, ensuring and combining legal security and standardisation of rules with the practical advantages of these new social and trade relations, stimulating innovation and economic growth. While the WTO and the OECD have not reached a consensus on this matter, the EU has been influencing rules around the world and adding chapters on electronic commerce to its deep integration trade agreements with third countries. The book analyses EU regulations regarding the online environment such as personal data protection, electronic commerce, electronic contract, electronic signature and identification, advertising, digital services, consumer rights, and taxation. It addresses several decisions made by the Court of Justice and national courts of the EU. The influence of the EU in Mercosur is demonstrated through the analysis of laws and jurisprudence of Mercosur countries.
