Book A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF ALTAIC MYTHOLOGIES IN CHINA

Download or read book A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF ALTAIC MYTHOLOGIES IN CHINA written by G. Namjil and published by American Academic Press. This book was released on 2023-08-28 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lending support to the search for the roots of the Altaic language family and pushing forward the field of Altaic mythologies and related topics, this comprehensive study of the early beliefs of China’s Altaic peoples is the first thorough, systematic academic treatment in this, as yet, underdeveloped research field. While discussing nine types of Altaic mythologies, A Comparative Study of Altaic Mythologies in China uses primary sources in several languages to explore Altaic myths’ origins, development over centuries, lineage relationships, and external influences. For this purpose, it compares the mythologies of various ethnic groups within the Altaic language family, Altaic mythologies with those of other cross-language and cross-cultural ethnic groups having direct, indirect or even no cultural exchanges with them in history, as well as Altaic mythologies with folklore, religion and other interdisciplinary domains of Altaic Studies by applying the theories and methods of comparative literature studies, comparative folklore studies and comparative mythology to a vast collection of mythological materials. As wide-ranging as it is deeply researched, this serious exploration of Altaic Studies breaks the boundaries of the previously closed research model, expands theoretical horizons, broadens the research scope, introduces a new mechanism for understanding myths and co-cultures of the Altaic language family, and offers insight toward the reconstruction of Proto-Altaic Mythology.

Book The Turks in the Early Islamic World

Download or read book The Turks in the Early Islamic World written by C. Edmund Bosworth and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-05-15 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume brings together a set of key articles, along with a new introduction to contextualize them, on the role of Turkish peoples in the Western Asiatic world up to the 11th century. Such topics as the geographical and environmental original milieux of these peoples in the forest zone and steppelands of Inner Asia, the formation and breakup of tribal confederations within the steppes, and the evolution of tribal structures, are examined as the background for the appearance of Turks within the Islamic caliphate from the 9th century onwards. These came first as military slaves, then as movements of peoples, such as the tribal migrations of the Oghuz, leading to the establishment of the Seljuq sultanate, whilst from within Islamic society, individual Turkish commanders were able at the same time to build up their own military empires such as that of the Ghaznavids. In this way was put in place a Turkish dominance of the northern tier of the Middle East, with attendant changes in demography and land utilisation, which was to last for centuries.

Book Eurasia S Altai Heritage

Download or read book Eurasia S Altai Heritage written by Seidakhmet Kuttykadam and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2017-11-17 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book you are about to read presents the outlandish theory that all human civilizations and languages began once at a single point on earth and a specific point in time. It is a rereading of history up to the modern day that witnesses the spread of culture from this single point and how it changed and whom it touched and how. It posits the notion that the original, or primordial, knowledge of human beings was something pure and useful but over time has been distorted into something that is too often wicked and harmful. From simple beginnings when humans lived as part of nature, knowledge was a necessary means of understanding nature, and in the authors view, knowledge has become an end in itself, pursued for its own sake and in disregard of the real difficulties humanity now faces.
