Book Scattering of Cobalt 60 Gamma Radiation in Air Ducts

Download or read book Scattering of Cobalt 60 Gamma Radiation in Air Ducts written by Charles Eisenhauer and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The exposure dose rates due to cobalt-60 gamma radiation scattered in small air ducts in concrete has been measured for ducts with one and two right angle bends. The inside corner of a right angle bend has been found to be an important source of scattered radiation. Results are analyzed in terms of solid angle relationships and attempts are made to extrapolate experimental results to other duct configurations.

Book Radiation Errors in Air Ducts Under Nonisothermal Conditions Using Thermocouples Thermistors and a Resistance Thermometer

Download or read book Radiation Errors in Air Ducts Under Nonisothermal Conditions Using Thermocouples Thermistors and a Resistance Thermometer written by Joseph C. Davis and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studies were made to determine the radiation error in temperature measurements made with thermocouples, thermistors, and a resistance thermometer in moving air at velocities ranging from 300 to 1300 fpm when the temperature of the duct wall surrounding the air stream was from 0 to 50 deg F higher than that of the air in the center of the duct. To eliminate all but the variable under study, conduction errors were minimized to a point where they were almost nonexistent by using Chromel P-constantan thermocouple wire and by employing other techniques. Radiation effects were studied when the probe housing the three types of temperature sensors was unshielded and again when it was shielded. Under the test conditions that prevail in the testing of air conditioners and heat pumps in laboratories, it should be possible to reduce the error in temperature measurement of the moving air to about 0.2 deg F by a suitable combination of air mixers, duct insulation, radiation shields, and calibration techniques. Book Structural Design of Air and Gas Ducts for Power Stations and Industrial Boiler Applications

Download or read book Structural Design of Air and Gas Ducts for Power Stations and Industrial Boiler Applications written by American Society of Civil Engineers. Air and Gas Duct Structural Design Committee and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prepared by the Air and Gas Duct Structural Design Committee of the Energy Division of ASCE Structural Design of Air and Gas Ducts for Power Stations and Industrial Boiler Applications, Second Edition, assists structural engineers in the layout and performance of the structural analysis and design of air and flue gas ductwork for natural gas, coal, oil, reciprocating internal combustion engines (RICE), and all other fossil fuel power stations and industrial boiler applications. Air and flue gas ducts are unique structures, yet the structural analysis and design of ductwork is not currently addressed or governed by any national code or design standard. Topics include Flow, damper, and expansion joint ductwork arrangement considerations and impacts on the structural design; Material selection, behavior, and performance of carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys for elevated temperatures and in corrosive environments including creep rupture, temper embrittlement, and graphitization phenomena; Air and flue gas ductwork unique loading cases and means of considering these loads in ASD and LRFD load combinations; Truss and finite element structural analysis modeling techniques; Strength design methods incorporating the AISC stability requirements (P-delta impacts); Longitudinal, tangential, and hoop stress considerations for the design of circular ductwork; Thermal and vibration considerations including thermal gradients and vortex shedding of internal elements; Thermal insulation systems; Toggle duct behavior and expansion joint considerations; and Structural assessment and reinforcement of ductwork as a result of changing operating conditions or ductwork modification. This fully updated report also discusses drawing and specification content, fabrication and construction techniques and considerations, duct support means, and special considerations regarding the design of duct support structures. Preventative maintenance examinations and inspections for the purpose of condition assessment and ascertaining the structural integrity of the ducts also are discussed. This new edition will be a valuable tool for structural engineers to understand the structural behavior of a duct system and in analyzing and designing its many structural components.

Book HVAC Duct Design

Download or read book HVAC Duct Design written by Charles Nehme and published by Charles Nehme. This book was released on 2023-01-19 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: HVAC duct is a system of metal or flexible tubes that are used to distribute heated or cooled air throughout a building. They are typically made of sheet metal, fiberglass, or plastic and come in a variety of sizes. They are connected to registers, diffusers, and grilles, which help to regulate the air flow and temperature. Duct sizing is the process of ensuring that the right size of ducts and fittings is used in a ventilation system. This process involves calculating the air volume, velocity and pressure drop of the system, and then selecting the appropriate size of ducts and fittings to accommodate that air volume, velocity and pressure drop. The first principle of HVAC duct design is selecting the right size and type of components. The size and type of components are determined by the desired airflow, static pressure, and other criteria. Proper sizing helps to ensure that the system can adequately heat or cool the space. The components should also be selected based on the desired sound level, ease of installation, and other design considerations. HVAC Ductwork book, HVAC Rectangular Duct, HVAC Duct Design
