Book Advances in Ready Mixed Concrete Technology

Download or read book Advances in Ready Mixed Concrete Technology written by Ravindra K. Dhir OBE and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 485 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Ready Mixed Concrete Technology contains the proceedings of the first International Conference on Ready-Mixed Concrete held at Dundee University in Scotland from September 29 to October 1, 1975. Contributors focus on the significant progress that has been made in ready mixed concrete technology. Some practices are highlighted along with possible areas for research. This text is organized around seven themes; the first of which deals with plant and equipment. Production methods and their development in the ready mixed concrete industry are reviewed, along with developments in batching plant and equipment to meet the needs of the ready mixed concrete industry. The chapters that follow explore the materials used in making concrete, properties of fresh and hardened concrete, mix design and quality control, and transportation and placing. The final section discusses the economics of ready mixed concrete, with emphasis on the cost of placing concrete by pump and the relative economics of alternative materials in Portland cement concrete. This book will be of interest to ready mixed concrete producers, their customers in the construction industry, and their suppliers of concrete materials, plant, and equipment.

Book Advanced Concrete Technology

Download or read book Advanced Concrete Technology written by Zongjin Li and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-01-11 with total page 698 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past two decades concrete has enjoyed a renewed level of research and testing, resulting in the development of many new types of concrete. Through the use of various additives, production techniques and chemical processes, there is now a great degree of control over the properties of specific concretes for a wide range of applications. New theories, models and testing techniques have also been developed to push the envelope of concrete as a building material. There is no current textbook which brings all of these advancements together in a single volume. This book aims to bridge the gap between the traditional concrete technologies and the emerging state-of-the-art technologies which are gaining wider use.

Book Concrete for the Modern Age Developments in materials and processes

Download or read book Concrete for the Modern Age Developments in materials and processes written by Dr Atef Badr and published by Whittles Publishing. This book was released on 2017 with total page 1057 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a wide-ranging review of the latest developments in concrete technology that have been largely missing from the global conference circuit. It the first major international event under the auspices of the Institute of Concrete Technology (ICT) and is appropriately located in the Middle East at the heart of a construction boom. Themes covered include admixture technology, durability, mix design, special cements and supplementary materials, reinforced concrete and sustainability. The 39 papers provide interesting theory and applicable practice blended with research findings – from the application of 3D printing to performance-based specifications and the role of concrete in the development of Oman – to produce a volume of value to many engineers and technologists. Founded in 1972, The Institute of Concrete Technology (ICT)’s mission is to preserve and promote concrete technology as a recognised engineering discipline and consolidate the professional status of practising concrete technologists worldwide. It is the concrete sector’s professional development body, operating internationally, with some 500 members in more than 30 countries. It is an awarding body for qualifications in concrete technology and a facilitator of continuing professional development (CPD) and networking opportunities. Our partner in this conference, The Military Technical College in Muscat, Oman, was established with the intent of becoming a Center of Excellence in engineering education. Located in one purpose-built, state-of-the-art, well-resourced center, the intent is that MTC will be amongst the world's best in the field of military and applied non-military technological education and training providers in the world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The advanced analysis and the design of reinforced concrete buildings, as well as the most recent information and understanding of the concrete material technology, are the goals of this book. You will learn about the advanced analytical theory and design concepts of non-conventional RC design, including non-flexural and torsional members, moment redistribution, confinement, and the design of high-strength concrete structural components. The relevance of the microstructures of the hardened concrete or cementitious paste on the performance of concrete structures, as well as the elements that affect them, will be discussed in detail on concrete technology. Advanced Concrete Technology also discusses practical concerns such as the use of chemical admixtures and fillers in the design of high-performance concrete mixes, crack investigation and management, creep and shrinkage, and different long-term durability problems. Concrete has the highest material use rate of any substance in the world. It's a crucial component in the development of public structures and individual residences. Professionals in civil engineering must have a firm grasp of the fundamental characteristics of concrete. The goal of this book is to provide cutting-edge concrete technology that makes use of recent advances, inventions, and iv techniques. The systematic explanation of concrete fracture mechanics and the non-destructive assessment for concrete engineering are only two examples of the additional information provided by this book, which expands the reader's understanding of concrete technology.
