Book The Marksmanship Instructors and Coaches Guide

Download or read book The Marksmanship Instructors and Coaches Guide written by United States Army Marksmanship Unit and published by . This book was released on 2002-08 with total page 620 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acquiring the ability to shoot accurately is no simple matter. One should not assume that the art of advanced marksmanship is fully realized upon reading a training manual. It cannot be complete understood even after hours of advice and instruction from a qualified marksmanship coach or target shooter. To become a qualified shooter and be able to produce consistently high scores, one must learn to perform all the fundamentals of shooting, acquire certain definite habits, flawless coordination - and above all - have a capacity for the intense concentration essential to exercising a high degree of mental control. For this, one must train. It is difficult, if not impossible, to establish a universal system of training in marksmanship which will cover all cases, that is, one that can be adapted to every shooters technique or special need. Training shooters requires an individual approach. For this reason, knowledgeable coaches take the peculiarities of an individual - such as experience, degree of preparation and physical fitness - and other factors into account. Relying on their own experience, they devise a training program which allows special considerations for each shooters capabilities. In spite of the difference in details, technique or method, there is much that is common to the training of advanced marksmen. This manual endeavors to present, in a detailed, comprehensive manner, these universal applications. Advanced marksmanship training must of necessity, avoid the involved and exceedingly complex because it is an activity whose participants form a great cross-section of our national life, and the average citizen is its greatest asset.

Book The Development and Evaluation of Advanced Rifle Marksmanship Training Programs with the M16 Rifle

Download or read book The Development and Evaluation of Advanced Rifle Marksmanship Training Programs with the M16 Rifle written by Jon P. Hunt and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In May 1987 a research effort that examined current Advanced Rifle Marksmanship (ARM) training conducted during One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, georgia, was initiated. This research evaluated night fire with no illumination, normally scheduled night fire training with artificial illumination, and protective mask fire during daylight. Alternative methods of training were tested in addition to night fire training using the AN/PVS-4 night vision sight. Separate alternative training methods were tested for protective mask fire during daylight. All training procedures developed during this effort used existing range facilities and training resources. Additional resource demands were confined to increases in training time allocation and extra ammunition. Findings indicated that soldiers had extreme difficulty in hitting targets during night fire with no illumination and with artificial illumination. Results for night fire using the AN/PVS-4 night vision sight showed that soldiers were capable of hitting targets out to 300 m. Findings for protective mask fire during daylight also indicated that soldiers were capable of hitting targets out to 300 m.

This book was released on 2002-09-01 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acquiring the ability to accurately shoot a pistol is no simple matter. One should not assume that the art of advanced pistol marksmanship is fully realized immediately upon reading a training manual on the fundamentals and techniques of pistol shooting; nor completely understood after having received a few hours of advice and instruction from a qualified coach or expert shooter. To become a top pistol shooter and able to produce consistently high scores, one must learn to perform all the fundamentals of shooting, acquire certain definite habits, achieve flawless coordination - and above all - have a capacity for the intense concentration essential to exercising a high degree of mental control. For this, one must train. It is difficult, if not impossible, to establish a universal system of training in pistol marksmanship which will cover all cases - one that can be adapted to each shooter's technique or special need. Training pistol shooters requires an individual approach. There is no single pattern or system for the organization of training that will entirely meet the individual requirements of all competitors, nor can one ever be expected. This is the reason knowledgeable coaches take the peculiarities of an individual - such as experience, degree of preparation and fitness, and other items - into account. They use these, and by relying on their own experience, devise a training program which allows special consideration for each shooter's capabilities. In spite of the difference in details, technique or method, there is much that is common to the training of advanced marksmen, that - in the opinion of leading coaches and shooters, applies to everyone, without exception. This manualendeavors to present, in a detailed, comprehensive manner, these universal applications.Advanced pistol marksmanship training must of necessity, avoid the involved and exceedingly complex because it is an activity whose participants form a great cross-section of our nation

Book Revision of Career Marksmanship Training Requirements for the United States Marine Corps Covering Annual Rifle Qualifications Refocus Resources to Advanced Marksmanship Score Keeping and Quotas

Download or read book Revision of Career Marksmanship Training Requirements for the United States Marine Corps Covering Annual Rifle Qualifications Refocus Resources to Advanced Marksmanship Score Keeping and Quotas written by U. S. Military and published by . This book was released on 2018-03-10 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Current Marine Corps policy requires that all Marines below the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and with fewer than 13 years of service undergo annual rifle qualification. Annual marksmanship training is repetitive and only addresses the fundamentals of marksmanship, which Marines typically master in their first few years. Key features of marksmanship training are instilled at initial training for officers and enlisted Marines, but advanced training is seldom received outside infantry and select occupational fields. Operational tempo or limited range availability may also make it impossible for some Marines (or entire units) to attend. Analysis of all recorded marksmanship scores from the past 20 years shows no significant changes in proficiency for Marines continuing to conduct sustainment under the current or previous policy. The current Marine Corps policy can be adjusted to increase the overall lethality of the force by recognizing earlier proficiencies with marksmanship skills and allowing Marines who have shown proficiency to advance to intermediate and advanced combat marksmanship training. The Marine Corps can refocus resources by conducting fewer sustainment-level rifle qualifications, allowing units to more efficiently schedule marksmanship training commensurate with the Marine's level of proficiency.
