Book Reflex Control of the Circulation

Download or read book Reflex Control of the Circulation written by Irving H. Zucker and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-02-03 with total page 1088 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reflex Control of the Circulation presents an interdisciplinary discussion of concepts in the reflex control of circulation. This volume describes aspects of autonomic receptor physiology, central pathways of reflex control, the electrophysiology of cardiovascular afferents, the interaction between reflexes, the autonomic control of regional blood flows, the autonomic control of fluid and electrolyte balance, and neurohumoral control of the circulation through normal and pathological states (e.g., hypertension, congestive heart failure). In addition, the regulation of regional blood flow during exercise and developmental aspects of reflex control are examined. Any researcher interested in the autonomic system and its role in circulation will find this book fascinating reading.

Book Complex Movement Behaviour

Download or read book Complex Movement Behaviour written by O.G. Meijer and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1988-03-01 with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The major focus of this book is on the differences between ecological approaches to action (`action theories'), and theories on motor control and learning couched in terms of information processing (`motor theories'). Proponents of both approaches express their views in Part 1 and the differences between the approaches are further analysed. Part 2 presents empirical studies, while in Part 3, methodological, philosophical and scientific implications are discussed and the possibility of a solution is considered.

Download or read book Applied Neurophysiology written by J.A. Simpson and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Applied Neurophysiology is intended to promote understanding of the structure and function of the human nervous system for anesthetists. For that reason this book presented concepts rather than critical discussions of experimental work. This book is organized into five parts. There are chapters intended for specialists such as those on vision, control of gaze, hearing and locomotion that were included in order to introduce concepts on brain stem automatisms and cortical function necessary to understand respiration and conscious awareness. There is also a chapter on autonomic nervous system which provides an account of the regulation of the cerebral circulation. The final sections of this volume also include quantitative data and references to original studies which were not thought necessary in other sections. This book will be of interest to anesthetists, clinicians, psychologists, speech pathologists and even neurologists in training.

Book Hands on Manual for Cinematographers

Book excerpt: Contains information, theory, diagrams and tables on various aspects of cinematography, ranging from camera choice, maintenance and threading diagrams; to electricity on location, equipment checklists, film stock, lenses, light and colour. This work includes sections on special effects and utilities. The "Hands On" Manual for Cinematographers contains a wealth of information, theory, diagrams and tables on all aspects of cinematography. Widely recognised as the "Cinematographer's Bible" the book is organised in a unique manner for easy reference on location, and remains an essential component of the cameraman's box. Everything you need to know about cinematography can be found in this book - from camera choice, maintenance and threading diagrams; to electricity on location, equipment checklists, film stock, lenses, light and colour. Of particular use will be the mathematics, formulae, look up tables and step by step examples used for everything from imperial/metric conversions to electricity, exposure, film length, running times, lights and optics. Sections on special effects and utilities are also included as well as a list of useful websites.

Book Motor Coordination

    Book Details:
  • Author : Arnold L. Towe
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2013-11-21
  • ISBN : 1468438840
  • Pages : 651 pages

Download or read book Motor Coordination written by Arnold L. Towe and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 651 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The focus of this volume differs from what is suggested by the series title, for it is on muscle contraction and movement rather than on behavior. The lone overnight flight of a ruby-throated hummingbird across the Gulf of Mexico is a migratory behavior mediated through an incredibly lengthy, repetitive series of wing move ments, each movement being produced by a complex sequence of muscle contrac tions. It is significant that these same movements may be used to mediate other behaviors, and that these same muscle contractions, in different sequence, may be used to produce other movements. The immense journey of white-bearded gnus across the Serengeti plains to suitable calving grounds is likewise a migratory behavior mediated through rather more varied, yet repetitive, limb movements, each produced by a complex sequence of muscle contractions. Again, these same movements may be used to mediate other behaviors, and again, the details of each limb movement may be varied through variations in the strength and the sequence of muscle contractions. A laboratory rat may learn to perform an escape behavior in a shuttle box, bringing its performance to a high level of efficiency by modifying its movement on successive trials. After intraperitoneal injection of pentobarbital sodium in an amount sufficient to render the animal severely incoordinated, the escape behavior is still performed, albeit through a different sequence of move ments, even to "rolling" out of the compartment in response to the warning signal.

Book Routledge Handbook of Motor Control and Motor Learning

Download or read book Routledge Handbook of Motor Control and Motor Learning written by Albert Gollhofer and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-01-17 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Routledge Handbook of Motor Control and Motor Learning is the first book to offer a comprehensive survey of neurophysiological, behavioural and biomechanical aspects of motor function. Adopting an integrative approach, it examines the full range of key topics in contemporary human movement studies, explaining motor behaviour in depth from the molecular level to behavioural consequences. The book contains contributions from many of the world ́s leading experts in motor control and motor learning, and is composed of five thematic parts: Theories and models Basic aspects of motor control and learning Motor control and learning in locomotion and posture Motor control and learning in voluntary actions Challenges in motor control and learning Mastering and improving motor control may be important in sports, but it becomes even more relevant in rehabilitation and clinical settings, where the prime aim is to regain motor function. Therefore the book addresses not only basic and theoretical aspects of motor control and learning but also applied areas like robotics, modelling and complex human movements. This book is both a definitive subject guide and an important contribution to the contemporary research agenda. It is therefore important reading for students, scholars and researchers working in sports and exercise science, kinesiology, physical therapy, medicine and neuroscience.

Book Relational Research and Organisation Studies

Download or read book Relational Research and Organisation Studies written by Charlotte Øland Madsen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-19 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume lays out a variety of ways of engaging in research projects focused on exploring the everyday relational practices of organizing and leading is presented. The main focus is through elaborate examples from the author’s own research to further the understanding of how it is possible to carry out relational constructionist research inquiries. The book presents a series of examples ranging from conversations with top-managers, relational action learning processes in management groups, polyphonic inquiries for project management teams, transformative roleplaying in organizations, analyzing organizational dialoguing, and polyphonic future-forming ways of writing up research. Relational Research and Organisation Studies does not only present and discuss guidelines for practice at a onto-epistemological level but also presents and discusses concrete cases of research projects building on relational constructionist ideas. Furthermore, excerpts of data are presented and analyzed in order to explain the co-constructed processes of the inquiries more in detail. Relational Research and Organisation Studies invites the reader into the process of planning and carrying out relational constructionist research inquiries. Based on the authors own experiences, it inspires readers to develop their own relational inquiries within the field of organizing.
