Book Humanistic Management Organization and Aesthetics

Download or read book Humanistic Management Organization and Aesthetics written by Michał Szostak and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-11-17 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is the first worldwide publication of a complex theory of management aesthetics in humanistic management based on the aesthetics and arts approach allowing for a complete and systemic understanding of the management art and art management phenomena. The methodology is based on the critical literature review and empirical research applying qualitative, quantitative, and autoethnographic approaches The main goal of this monograph is to create a holistic model that organises the issues of management aesthetics and shows the interdependence of the components of this model. The role of this model should be to perform a central function for a complete and systemic understanding of the phenomenon of management aesthetics, as well as to perform the function of a field based on which analysis of individual issues in the area of management aesthetics is conducted. The critical component of this holistic model is Maria Gołaszewska’s theory of the aesthetic situation. Two theses of the book are the following: (1) the theory of aesthetics and artistic practice have the potential to enrich the theory and practice of management with qualitative components through deep immersion in the world of values and (2) management theory and practice have the potential to enrich the theory of aesthetics and artistic practice with efficiency components.

This book will appeal to students and scholars of U.S. and Chinese higher education from the past to the present, as well as international admission officers and university executives who are concerned about the global educational partnership with China and questions around the internationalization of education more broadly.

Book A Bird s Eye View of the Practices of Humanism

Download or read book A Bird s Eye View of the Practices of Humanism written by Horace Smith and published by Chipmunkapublishing ltd. This book was released on 2011-06-01 with total page 71 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Description This e book is about my experiences and what I have seen through my extensive counselling and therapy as I translate in a language that many can understand my experiences as I come out of the shock from a great war of my conscience that was fought over a period of 32 years for the right just to live a normal life, free from the control of society, governments and satanic inspired people who wanted to create in me a new species, devoid of all the godly values that Christ bestow on mankind when he died on the cross and rose from the dead to eternal life. Both spiritual and natural. It is about my discoveries as being considered the vile, because of my mental illness, in a affluent society that only consider the poor as commerce to be sold and bought, to fight their wars and die without living. Mostly in America and how the normal community treated me as an individual. It shows how many people just wanted to experiment on me as their guinea pig so that in the world of commerce they would be able to use my spiritual knowledge to fool many into believing that they are wise. It shows what those who believe in the humanist theory that we evolved from apes and life just happened without a reason that has led to so many wars as mankind is no longer held accountable for their actions and so to bring peace we as the more advance nations send troops to foreign lands to kill in the image of making a better world. About the Author Horace Smith at the age of ten was sodomised by a paedophile ring that existed in the black Jamaican church, in a satanic ritual service to gain power over his soul, which is quite common in the Jamaican and African religious communities, here in London in the 70s. This tragic event led to severe mental health problems that has existed in Horace's life for 32 years to date. It was in 1991 that on his return back to London and after seeing a consultant at SLAM he was diagnosed wit paranoid schizophrenia and hearing voices and seeing delusions, but with the help of treatment and medication, Horace is able to live a near normal life.

Book The Diversity Of Worldviews Among Young Adults

Download or read book The Diversity Of Worldviews Among Young Adults written by Peter Nynäs and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-30 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access volume features a data-rich portrait of what young adults think about the world. It collects the views of students in higher education from various cultural regions, religious traditions, linguistic groups, and political systems. This will help readers better understand a generation that will soon rise to power and influence. The analysis focuses on 12 countries. These include Canada, China, Finland, Ghana, India, Israel, Peru, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Turkey, and the USA. It employs a mixed-methods approach, invested in the study of an individual's views and values using state-of-the-art methodology, including the innovative Faith Q-sort. This instrument is new to the field and developed for assessing the entanglement of subjective views and personal beliefs. The study also incorporates a comprehensive values survey as well as other survey tools that look into people's social capital, media use, social values alignment, and subjective well-being. Each chapter is co-authored by an international team of scholars with research interest in the particular topic. The rationale for this principle is the need to engage individuals from different cultural backgrounds, scholarly disciplines, and methodological and substantive competences. In the end, this innovative approach presents an informed, empirically grounded analysis of the values and worldviews of the future generation. It sheds an important light on how changes in the religious landscape are intertwined with broad and diffuse processes of socio-economic and global cultural change.

Book A History of the University in Europe

Download or read book A History of the University in Europe written by Hilde de Ridder-Symoens and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1992 with total page 724 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A History of the University in Europe covers the development of the university in Europe (East and West) from its origins to the present day. No other up-to-date, comprehensive history of this type exists: its originality lies in focusing on a number of major themes viewed from a European perspective, and in its interdisciplinary, collaborative and transnational character. Volume 1, covering the Middle Ages, places the medieval European universities in their social and political context. After explaining the number and types of universities from their origins in the twelfth century to around 1500, it examines the inner workings as an institution and paints a general picture of medieval student life. Volume 2 attempts to situate the universities in their social and political context throughout the three centuries spanning the period 1500 to 1800. Volume 3 shows that by focusing on the freedom of scientific research, teaching and study, the medieval university structure was modernized and enabled discoveries to become a professional, bureaucratically-regulated activity of the university. This opened the way for the victorious march of the natural sciences, and led to student movements--resulting in the university being ultimately cast in the role of a citadel of political struggle in a world-wide fight for freedom. - Publisher.

Book Designing the New American University

Download or read book Designing the New American University written by Michael M. Crow and published by JHU Press. This book was released on 2015-03-15 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A radical blueprint for reinventing American higher education. America’s research universities consistently dominate global rankings but may be entrenched in a model that no longer accomplishes their purposes. With their multiple roles of discovery, teaching, and public service, these institutions represent the gold standard in American higher education, but their evolution since the nineteenth century has been only incremental. The need for a new and complementary model that offers broader accessibility to an academic platform underpinned by knowledge production is critical to our well-being and economic competitiveness. Michael M. Crow, president of Arizona State University and an outspoken advocate for reinventing the public research university, conceived the New American University model when he moved from Columbia University to Arizona State in 2002. Following a comprehensive reconceptualization spanning more than a decade, ASU has emerged as an international academic and research powerhouse that serves as the foundational prototype for the new model. Crow has led the transformation of ASU into an egalitarian institution committed to academic excellence, inclusiveness to a broad demographic, and maximum societal impact. In Designing the New American University, Crow and coauthor William B. Dabars—a historian whose research focus is the American research university—examine the emergence of this set of institutions and the imperative for the new model, the tenets of which may be adapted by colleges and universities, both public and private. Through institutional innovation, say Crow and Dabars, universities are apt to realize unique and differentiated identities, which maximize their potential to generate the ideas, products, and processes that impact quality of life, standard of living, and national economic competitiveness. Designing the New American University will ignite a national discussion about the future evolution of the American research university.
