Book excerpt: Jesse Henson (b. ca. 1759) resided on the Holston River near the state line on the frontier of Virginia, when he joined the Revolution in September 1776. He was a son of William Henson Sr. of Virginia. He was married to Mary Goodbread. Jesse's brother, John (b. 1766), also a Revolutionary War soldier married Mary's sister, Jane Good- bread. Jesse resided later in Rutherford Co., N. C., Warren Co., Ky. ca. 1796 and the Soldier's Creek in present Marshall Co., Kentucky in 1810. Mary and Jane Goodbread were daughters of Phillip and Catherine Goodbread Sr. Phillip Goodbread was an emigrant from Nordheim, Germany, who came to America with his parents in 1731. He died at Tryon Co., North Carolina. John Henson resided in Rutherford Co., N. C. after the war, then moved to Kentucky, from there to Indiana and then to Wayne Co., Illinois.
