Book A Database for Performing and Archiving Oxygen Hazards Analyses

Download or read book A Database for Performing and Archiving Oxygen Hazards Analyses written by JM. Stoltzfus and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ASTM Committee G-04 published several guides and a manual that outline a process for identifying and analyzing fire hazards in oxygen systems. Many companies and government agencies have accepted this process and require hazards analyses to be performed on oxygen systems. When an oxygen hazards analysis is performed, the results are usually documented to identify the hazards associated with the system and its components.

Book Using ASTM Standard Guide G 88 To Identify and Rank System Level Hazards in Large Scale Oxygen Systems

Download or read book Using ASTM Standard Guide G 88 To Identify and Rank System Level Hazards in Large Scale Oxygen Systems written by J. Rantala and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Performing hazards analyses and fire risk assessments on oxygen systems is critical to ensure that a system design has a low probability of ignition and a low consequence of ignition. Historically several different methods have been used to identify and evaluate fire hazards in oxygen systems. Most of these methods, however, are designed for detailed materials or component analyses, and can be impractical for large-scale oxygen systems with many components and even multiple end processes. Wendell Hull & Associates, Inc. (WHA), in conjunction with Oxygen Safety Consultants, Inc. and INCO Ltd., has developed an efficient approach to identify and evaluate hazards in large-scale oxygen systems. The WHA oxygen hazards and fire risk assessment process considers the important aspects of oxygen system safety as they relate to design, cleaning, operations and maintenance, and uses ASTM Standard Guide G 88 as a basis for quickly identifying and ranking system-level oxygen hazards. ASTM G 88 is a standard guide for oxygen system design containing many system-level factors known to contribute to ignition and propagation of fires. The WHA analysis process applies ASTM G 88 at the system level, using both schematic analysis and visual inspection to systematically assign a hazard severity ranking to all system components, allowing components that possess the greatest risk of ignition and fire propagation to be quickly identified and further evaluated. This paper describes the WHA oxygen hazards and risk assessment method, using ASTM G 88 to quickly identify and assign a hazards severity ranking to components in large-scale oxygen systems.

Book Enhancing Performance for Action and Perception

Download or read book Enhancing Performance for Action and Perception written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-07-16 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of Progess in Brain Research follows on from the 32nd International Symposium of the Groupe de recherche sur le système nerveux central (GRSNC), May 2010, and aims to provide an overview of the various neural mechanisms that contribute to learning new motor and sensory skills, and to adapting to changed circumstances, including the use of devices and implants to substitute for lost sensory or motor abilities (brain machine interfaces). The focus is on recent developments covering five major themes: - Mechanisms to improve motor performance - Neuro-rehabilitation of motor function - Mechanisms to enhance sensory perception - Cross modal interationc for enhancing sensorimotor performance - Assistive technologies to enhance sensorimotor performance This volume focuses on the translation of scientific knowledge into applications and strategies that can help restore lost function following injury or disease including assistive neuroprosthetic technologies to enhance sensorimotor performance and neurorehabilitation. - Leading authors review the state-of-the-art in their field of investigation and provide their views and perspectives for future research - Chapters are extensively referenced to provide readers with a comprehensive list of resources on the topics covered - All chapters include comprehensive background information and are written in a clear form that is also accessible to the non-specialist
