Book Monte Carlo Methods in Mechanics of Fluid and Gas

Download or read book Monte Carlo Methods in Mechanics of Fluid and Gas written by Oleg Mikha?lovich Belot?serkovski? and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to analysis of Monte Carlo methods developed in rarefied gas dynamics. Presented is the short history of the development of such methods, described are their main properties, their advantages and deficiencies. It is shown that the contemporary stage in the progress of computational methods cannot be regarded without a complex approach to the preparation of algorithms taking into account all the peculiarities of the problem under consideration, that is, of the physical nature of a process, the mathematical model and the theoretical aspects of computational mathematics and stochastic processes. Thoroughly investigated is the possibility of application of Monte Carlo methods in some kindred areas of science which are non-traditional for the use of statistical modeling (continuous media, turbulence). Considered are the possible directions of development of statistical modeling.

Book The Monte Carlo Method in Condensed Matter Physics

Download or read book The Monte Carlo Method in Condensed Matter Physics written by Kurt Binder and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Monte Carlo method is now widely used and commonly accepted as an important and useful tool in solid state physics and related fields. It is broadly recognized that the technique of "computer simulation" is complementary to both analytical theory and experiment, and can significantly contribute to ad vancing the understanding of various scientific problems. Widespread applications of the Monte Carlo method to various fields of the statistical mechanics of condensed matter physics have already been reviewed in two previously published books, namely Monte Carlo Methods in Statistical Physics (Topics Curro Phys. , Vol. 7, 1st edn. 1979, 2ndedn. 1986) and Applications of the Monte Carlo Method in Statistical Physics (Topics Curro Phys. , Vol. 36, 1st edn. 1984, 2nd edn. 1987). Meanwhile the field has continued its rapid growth and expansion, and applications to new fields have appeared that were not treated at all in the above two books (e. g. studies of irreversible growth phenomena, cellular automata, interfaces, and quantum problems on lattices). Also, new methodic aspects have emerged, such as aspects of efficient use of vector com puters or parallel computers, more efficient analysis of simulated systems con figurations, and methods to reduce critical slowing down at i>hase transitions. Taken together with the extensive activity in certain traditional areas of research (simulation of classical and quantum fluids, of macromolecular materials, of spin glasses and quadrupolar glasses, etc.

Book Monte Carlo Calculations of Two Dimensional Combustor Flows

Download or read book Monte Carlo Calculations of Two Dimensional Combustor Flows written by S. B. Pope and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One-dimensional premixed turbulent flames have been studied using the PDF method. These flames are directly relevant to the combustion in spark ignition engines, and are basic to our understanding of yet more complicated combustion phenomena. The objective of the work was to develop a theory to calculate the flame properties as functions of the governing parameters. (Author).

Book Monte Carlo Simulation in Statistical Physics

Download or read book Monte Carlo Simulation in Statistical Physics written by Kurt Binder and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dealing with the computer simulation of thermodynamic properties of many-body condensed-matter systems that use random numbers generated by a computer, this book describes the theoretical background of several variants of Monte Carlo methods. The result is a systematic course allowing newcomers to perform these simulations for themselves and to analyze their results. This third edition has been updated and expanded by a new chapter on important recent developments in the Monte Carlo methodology.

Book Combustion Measurements

Download or read book Combustion Measurements written by Norman Chigier and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1991-04-01 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book begins with an introduction to the general problems of making measurements in high temperature and a presentation of chemically reacting flow systems. It describes each instrument with the various diagnostic techniques and discusses measurements that have been made in furnaces, flames, and rocket engines. The detailed measurement techniques described in this book cover a wide spectrum of applications in combustion systems, including gas turbine, rocket measurement techniques that were developed in laboratories. Information obtained on detailed temperature, velocity, particle size, and gas concentration distribution is leading to improve understanding of the chemical combustion process and to design imporvements in combustors.
