Book Internet of Things Use Cases for the Healthcare Industry

Download or read book Internet of Things Use Cases for the Healthcare Industry written by Pethuru Raj and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-03-31 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores potentially disruptive and transformative healthcare-specific use cases made possible by the latest developments in Internet of Things (IoT) technology and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). Healthcare data can be subjected to a range of different investigations in order to extract highly useful and usable intelligence for the automation of traditionally manual tasks. In addition, next-generation healthcare applications can be enhanced by integrating the latest knowledge discovery and dissemination tools. These sophisticated, smart healthcare applications are possible thanks to a growing ecosystem of healthcare sensors and actuators, new ad hoc and application-specific sensor and actuator networks, and advances in data capture, processing, storage, and mining. Such applications also take advantage of state-of-the-art machine and deep learning algorithms, major strides in artificial and ambient intelligence, and rapid improvements in the stability and maturity of mobile, social, and edge computing models.

Book Spark Plasma Sintering and Related Field Assisted Powder Consolidation Technologies

Download or read book Spark Plasma Sintering and Related Field Assisted Powder Consolidation Technologies written by Eugene A. Olevsky and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2018-07-02 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electromagnetic field-assisted sintering techniques have increasingly attracted attention of scientists and technologists. Spark-plasma sintering (SPS) and other field-assisted powder consolidation approaches provide remarkable capabilities to the processing of materials into configurations previously unattainable. Of particular significance is the possibility of using very fast heating rates, which, coupled with the field-assisted mass transport, stand behind the purported ability to achieve high densities during consolidation and to maintain the nanostructure of consolidated materials via these techniques. Potentially, SPS and related technologies have many significant advantages over the conventional powder processing methods, including the lower process temperature, the shorter holding time, dramatically improved properties of sintered products, low manufacturing costs, and environmental friendliness.

Book Intelligent Agents in the Evolution of Web and Applications

Download or read book Intelligent Agents in the Evolution of Web and Applications written by Ngoc Thanh Nguyen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2008-10-10 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intelligent agents have revolutionised the way we do business, we teach, we learn, design systems, and so on. Agent applications are increasingly being developed in - mains as diverse as meteorology, manufacturing, war gaming, UAV mission mana- ment and the evolution of Web [1]. The Web has also has the same effect on our daily life as the intelligent agents. We use Web for information search, shopping, news, communication and so on. We wonder how we lived without Web in the past [2]. The book presents a sample of some of the most innovative research on the use of intelligent agents in the evolution of Web. There are thirteen chapters in the book. Chapters are on theoretical foundations as well as practical applications. We are grateful to the contributors and reviewers for their contribution. We believe that the research reported in the book will encourage researchers to develop the robust human-like intelligent machines for the service of humans. We sincerely thank Springer-Verlag for their editorial support during the prepa- tion of the manuscript. The editors appreciate the resources provided by Wroclaw University of Technology and the University of South Australia to edit this volume.

Book Moon Face and Other Stories

Download or read book Moon Face and Other Stories written by Jack London and published by Lindhardt og Ringhof. This book was released on 2021-07-07 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We’ve all taken a dislike to someone for no real reason. But few of us nurture this hatred like the narrator of "Moon-Face". The target of his irrational malice is a man named John Claverhouse. With cold precision, the narrator sets to planning the man’s downfall. Why he has this urge, he can’t explain. But he knows he’ll feel immense satisfaction when John Claverhouse is made to suffer. In this macabre little tale, Jack London pinpoints a very common but unpleasant human trait. And then takes it to a horrifying extreme. This short story collection also includes "All Gold Canyon", which was adapted as part of the Netflix anthology movie "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs". Jack London (1876–1916) was one of the first American writers to achieve worldwide celebrity. He did so with rugged adventure stories set in forbidding landscapes. And heroes who survive by embracing their most primal instincts. His breakthrough best seller was "The Call of the Wild". Inspired by his time in the Klondike Gold Rush, this hard-hitting novel is told from the perspective of a sled dog named Buck. It’s inspired many adaptations, including a big-budget movie starring Harrison Ford. Among London’s other notable works are "White Fang", also featuring a canine protagonist, as well as "The Sea-Wolf", "Martin Eden" and "The Iron Heel".
