Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Take twelve stones and build a memorial for your children. This was God's command to His people. Make sure your children know who I am and what I have done for you. Miracles shape who we are and what we believe as families and as individuals. We need to appreciate God for His divine work in our lives and make sure our children, family and friends hear those stories. The first 12 stories reflect God's intervention in the author's life. The borrowed stories are amazing testimonies that reflect God's great love, patience and power in His children's lives.

Book What Language Shall I Borrow

Download or read book What Language Shall I Borrow written by Ronald P. Byars and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2008-01-14 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What language is most appropriate for worship? Should it lean toward the colloquial, perhaps targeting those attending a worship service for the first time? Or should it be a language with deeper roots, the language of a community that, for the most part, already loves the God to whom worship is offered? Ronald Byars argues that the communal speech that truly honors God is, in fact, biblical language, which encompasses a vast range of forms -- poetry and prose, song and proverb, parable and narrative. Byars explains how biblical language becomes liturgical language that pushes us beyond what we already think we know, requiring us to think anew about death and resurrection, beginnings and endings, and the life of faith. What Language Shall I Borrow? is an instructive, eloquent reminder not to retreat from biblical language and images but to fully embrace them in our worship today.

Book Interaction of Borrowing and Word Formation

Download or read book Interaction of Borrowing and Word Formation written by Pius ten Hacken and published by Edinburgh University Press. This book was released on 2020-03-02 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on detailed case studies across a range of languages, including English, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Czech, Russian, Lithuanian and Greek, this book examines the different factors that determine the outcome of the interaction between borrowing and word formation. Historically, borrowing has largely been studied from etymological and lexicographical perspectives and word formation has been included in morphology. However, this book focuses on their mutual influence and interaction. Bringing together a range of contributors, each chapter illustrates how borrowing and word formation are in competition as alternative naming processes, while also showing how they can influence each other. The case studies are framed by an introduction that describes the general background and a conclusion that summarises the main findings.

Book May I Borrow That Deck of Cards

Download or read book May I Borrow That Deck of Cards written by John Graham and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2011-06-09 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are seeing across our nation and around the world an increasing struggle for true believers to experience and express the liberty of their faith in God. Governments are rapidly removing symbols of Christianity, standards of Righteousness and Spiritual Freedoms. The days are truly evil. Therefore, Pastor Graham has taken an old story about a deck of cards used as a Biblical Study Guide to encourage the learning of Biblical truths. He illustrates the cards of either suit within the deck with an inspirational account of Scripture worthy of learning and living. As the moral code of life diminishes before us and the rise of materialism and secular humanism takes control, Pastor Graham feels it is essential that individuals acquire the knowledge of Gods Word and apply it in the secret confidences of their hearts and in the steps they take each day. Just as the Sergeant in the story requested, May I borrow that deck of cards; let us read this book and request of God the knowledge of living a changed and committed life regardless where we may be or what we may be facing.

Book Twelve Stones

Download or read book Twelve Stones written by Barbara Carole and published by Gospel Light Publications. This book was released on 2009-02-16 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Twelve Stones is the story of Barbara Ilaynia, a secular Jew who worships Art and Romance, who tries to unravel the meaning of existence and make every moment a masterpiece. She lives and loves with passion, though not always with wisdom, in Parisian garrets and in Moroccan villages, in the light of Southern France and in sunny California. While embracing the drama of life and inhaling the fragrance of flowers along her path, her search is sometimes misguided by intensity and misled by intellectualism. At the zenith of her quest, Barbara discovers something even more meaningful than truth: She encounters the Source of love. Her life changing confrontation with God transforms a strong willed, sensual, tough minded individualist . . . and then her real journey begins. This book is Barbara’s altar of remembrance, built from the stones she has pocketed along her winding path. She builds this altar to honor the God of miracles.

Book Cultural Development of Mathematical Ideas

Download or read book Cultural Development of Mathematical Ideas written by Geoffrey B. Saxe and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2012-09-28 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing upon field studies conducted in 1978, 1980 and 2001 with the Oksapmin, a remote Papua New Guinea group, Geoffrey B. Saxe traces the emergence of new forms of numerical representations and ideas in the social history of the community. In traditional life, the Oksapmin used a counting system that makes use of twenty-seven parts of the body; there is no evidence that the group used arithmetic in prehistory. As practices of economic exchange and schooling have shifted, children and adults unwittingly reproduced and altered the system in order to solve new kinds of numerical and arithmetical problems, a process that has led to new forms of collective representations in the community. While Dr Saxe's focus is on the Oksapmin, the insights and general framework he provides are useful for understanding shifting representational forms and emerging cognitive functions in any human community.
