Book Determinants of Private Investment in Zimbabwe 1980 2013

Download or read book Determinants of Private Investment in Zimbabwe 1980 2013 written by Thabani Nyoni and published by . This book was released on 2015-06-05 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bachelor Thesis from the year 2014 in the subject Business economics - General, course: RESEARCH PROJECT, language: English, abstract: Private investment is a powerful mean for innovation, economic growth and poverty reduction. Countries with wider and deeper private-sector investments demonstrate accelerated growth (Majeed M.T and Khan S, 2008). Motivated by the concern on the persistent decline in private investment in Zimbabwe since 1980, this study empirically investigated the determinants of private investment in Zimbabwe using time series data for the period 1980-2013. The study employed the OLS estimation criteria. Results indicate that public investment; FDI and GDP are statistically significant in explaining the determinants of private investment in Zimbabwe, while interest rates and inflation are statistically insignificant. The study basically recommends that the government of Zimbabwe, especially through ZimAsset, should promote PPPs, initiate collaborative partnerships between foreign and local investors and create a conducive macroeconomic environment to boost private sector investment.

FAO recognizes that youth are already at the frontline to build more sustainable agrifood systems and are best placed to rejuvenate the sector, acquire the knowledge and skills needed to innovate, uptake new technologies, and spearhead the digital transformation. The Organization provides support to countries to develop more youth-inclusive policies, strategies, investments and programmes, in order to enhance the overall well-being of young women and men. This compendium of good practices brings together snapshots of selected FAO's youth-specific projects, activities and products in support of the Rural Youth Action Plan (RYAP) first biennium of implementation (2021–2022).

Book Uneven Zimbabwe

    Book Details:
  • Author : Patrick Bond
  • Publisher : Africa World Press
  • Release : 1998
  • ISBN : 9780865435391
  • Pages : 548 pages

Download or read book Uneven Zimbabwe written by Patrick Bond and published by Africa World Press. This book was released on 1998 with total page 548 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Uneven Zimbabwe examines the influence of domestic and international financial markets and financiers in uneven development in Zimbabwe, using - and contributing to - the tools of radical political economy. Theoretically, Bond begins with criticism of the classical Marxist concepts of "finance capital" for focusing on institutional characteristics and failing to grasp underlying dynamics. Instead, as economic crisis tendencies emerge, the power of finance periodically intensifies, temporarily displacing crisis through time and space and across geographical scales. But the limits of the financial solution become evident when paper assets delink from the productive assets they are meant to represent, as well as in the role that finance plays in amplifying uneven development across different economic sectors, spaces and scales.

Book An Empirical Analysis of the Determinants of Private Investment in Zimbabwe

Download or read book An Empirical Analysis of the Determinants of Private Investment in Zimbabwe written by Wellington Garikai Bonga and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The worst of the ailments distressing the economy of Zimbabwe continue to be sycophantically dubious and characteristically dystopian policies that are still causing malicious effects on private investment and yet private investment is an indisputably powerful means for sustainable economic growth and development. Private investment in Zimbabwe has been significantly low for the past three decades and yet the performance of the economy of Zimbabwe, just like any other economy, relies upon investment; specifically, private investment. This has apparently stimulated much concern, especially to economists; considering the fact that private investment is the backbone of every economy, of which Zimbabwe is not an exception. Motivated by the concern on the persistent retrogressive contribution of private investment to GDP as well as the incessant underwhelming economic growth in Zimbabwe, this study systematically reviews the determinants of private investment in Zimbabwe. Results show that GDP and public investment are the most powerful factors that affect private investment in Zimbabwe. The study recommends attention to be made to all identified factors (that is, GDP, public investment, interest rate, private sector credit and political uncertainty), paying particular attention to the main determinants of private investment, that is GDP and public investment.

Book Perspectives on Volunteering

Download or read book Perspectives on Volunteering written by Jacqueline Butcher and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-08-10 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume overlooks the distinct expressions and awareness of volunteering in the lived reality of people from different regions of the world. By casting the net widely this book not only expands the geographic reach of experiences, models and case studies but also transcends the conventional focus on formal volunteering. It highlights institutional forms of volunteering specific to developing nations and also describes volunteering that is more loosely institutionalized, informal, and a part of solidarity and collective spirit. As a result this book provides a different look at the values, meaning, acts and expressions of volunteering. The chapters in this book consist of essays and case studies that present recent academic research, thinking and practice on volunteering. Working from the premise that volunteering is universal this collection draws on experiences from Latin America, Africa including Egypt, and Asia. This book focuses on developing countries and countries in transition in order to provide a fresh set of experiences and perspectives on volunteering. While developing countries and countries in transition are in the spotlight for this volume, the developed country experience is not ignored. Rather the essays use it as a critical reference point for comparisons, allowing points of convergence, disconnect and intersection to emerge.

Book Youth and Higher Education in Africa The Cases of Cameroon South Africa Eritrea and Zimbabwe

Download or read book Youth and Higher Education in Africa The Cases of Cameroon South Africa Eritrea and Zimbabwe written by P. Chimanikire and published by African Books Collective. This book was released on 2009-08-15 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Student activism in Africa, at least since the early 1990s, has been preoccupied with popular struggles for democracy in both their respective countries and institutions of higher learning. The changing socio-economic and political conditions in many African countries, characterized by the decline in economic growth and the introduction of multi-party politics, among several other factors, have had different impact on students and student political organizations in African universities. This book recounts the responses of students to these changes in their attempt to negotiate better living and studying conditions. The four case studies contained in the book - Cameroon, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Eritrea - clearly reveal the very important aspects of the situation in which African students find themselves in many countries, and underscores the need to understand the character and development of higher education on the continent. Ministries of Higher Education, Vice Chancellors, Deans of Students, Student Unions and parents will find this book very useful in terms of understanding the tensions that often arise at institutions of higher learning and why solutions seem to be elusive.
