Book Millions Billions Zillions

Download or read book Millions Billions Zillions written by Brian Kernighan and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2020-11-10 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Numbers are often intimidating, confusing, and even deliberately deceptive--especially when they are really big. The media loves to report on millions, billions, and trillions, but frequently makes basic mistakes or presents such numbers in misleading ways. And misunderstanding numbers can have serious consequences, since they can deceive us in many of our most important decisions, including how to vote, what to buy, and whether to make a financial investment. In this short, accessible, enlightening, and entertaining book, leading computer scientist Brian Kernighan teaches anyone--even diehard math-phobes--how to demystify the numbers that assault us every day. With examples drawn from a rich variety of sources, including journalism, advertising, and politics, Kernighan demonstrates how numbers can mislead and misrepresent. In chapters covering big numbers, units, dimensions, and more, he lays bare everything from deceptive graphs to speciously precise numbers. And he shows how anyone--using a few basic ideas and lots of shortcuts--can easily learn to recognize common mistakes, determine whether numbers are credible, and make their own sensible estimates when needed. Giving you the simple tools you need to avoid being fooled by dubious numbers, Millions, Billions, Zillions is an essential survival guide for a world drowning in big--and often bad--data"--Jacket

Book ZILLION MILES and nowhere to go

Download or read book ZILLION MILES and nowhere to go written by Miss URVI KOCHHAR and published by ANURADHA PRAKASHAN . This book was released on 2023-10-13 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Author : Urvi Kochhar There is this very big problem with growing up -we don't realize when we cross that fine line and outgrow instead of growing. Growing is a part of life; it is natural so to say. But this phenomenon is defined in absolutely different ways by different people. My neighbour had his first correspondence with the tooth fairy... a fourteen-year-old had her menarche... somebody just got their driver's license... another one just drank the hidden booze. My friend got into the college of his dreams and well, they all grew up! And as far as I am concerned, I am still trying to figure it out.We all have certain connotations about the different stages of life, certain milestones that mark their ends and beginnings. Well, I am just seventeen. People say that the time when you step into this world all by yourself is not far. My head and ambitions quite know when that is going to happen, but my heart just does not want to accept it. A little more time... a little more time... if only I had a little more time. But you know what's the best part, no matter what happens, I still grow up. What I have realized is that it is not so important to define what defines growing. Because when we do so, we spoil the whole process of growing. So yeah, I am growing everyday and learning too. This enormous thing you are reading is my first ever brand- new poetry book, right from my heart to yours. Enormous, because this amalgamation touches everything from life to after life and from love to pride. And of-course it tells how much I have grown XD. So, are you ready for a bumpy ride?

Book Alpha Beta Zero to Zillion Word Codes for Numbers

Download or read book Alpha Beta Zero to Zillion Word Codes for Numbers written by Dr Godwin Lekwuwa and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-12-28 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ABZZ word code system is a method that can be used to convert any given number to word code equivalents. With this method, any given number from zero to zillion can be converted to word codes. The principles of this method are explained in this book. This book also contains a thesaurus that gives two examples of easily derivable and meaningful word code equivalents of every number from 0 to 9,999. It is a forerunner to a proposed online thesaurus that would list word code alternatives of every number from zero to one billion (01,000,000,000). For centuries, people have been attracted to the idea of converting numbers to words. One of the major advantages of this is that people would be able to find meaningful word names for phone numbers, passwords, pin numbers, log-in numbers, access codes, etc. Other advantages include the ability to generate prospective number codes based on any words of your choice. Numerous other advantages and uses are elaborated in this book. Word code systems for numbers devised over the centuries have been cumbersome and difficult to use. This has limited their use in everyday life. The ABZZ word code system introduces a new, simpler, and user-friendly system of converting any given numbers to words and vice versa. The principles of the system can be mastered in a few minutes. Regular usage would engrain it as one of our basic thinking processes. The ABZZ is an idea whose time has come.
