Book What Does God Think

Download or read book What Does God Think written by Cheryl B. Evans and published by Cheryl B. Evans. This book was released on 2017-09-10 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A READERS' FAVORITE 2018 AWARD WINNING BOOK. The bestselling author of I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Raising a transgender child invites you on a fascinating exploration to discover the truth in What Does God Think? Transgender People and The Bible. Presented with the idea that her transgender child was "not of God", Cheryl B. Evans set out to see what God really thinks about transgender people. What does the Bible say? Why is there such a big divide among Christians? Why do some Christians insist there is no such thing as a transgender person while other Christians accept and affirm transgender people? And most importantly, what does God think? This LGBT Christian book takes the reader on a journey that is educational and highly revealing. What Does God Think? is an invitation to examine the scriptures and give consideration to the social, cultural, and scientific facts that impact what we believe, and the way we internally feel about transgender people. Cheryl B. Evans handles this controversial topic with grace and compassion for people on both sides of this debate. If you have been struggling to understand how someone can be Christian and still accept and affirm transgender people then this book is for you. If you know someone who is struggling to accept a loved one who has come out as trans, this would be the perfect book to recommend. Are you ready to have this conversation? Opinions vary widely on the topic of gender, and gender identity, and when you mix religion into the conversation it gets even more interesting. In this non-fiction book, Evans discusses these important social issues in a calm and nonthreatening way. Making this transgender affirming book an excellent resource for both Christians and non-Christians. Grab your copy now and let's talk! Editorial Reviews: 'Evans presents an accessible introduction to issues surrounding trans identity and Christianity. After a brief explanation of the science of sexual diversity and the growing public awareness of trans people. Evans embarks on a fairly high-level exploration of the difficulty of relying on the Bible to address modern concerns. She builds a case that the Bible is less conservative than many traditionalists assert. Evans's clear, heartfelt writing is a compassionate starting point for discussion.' Publishers Weekly (BookLife) "Superb second book by Cheryl B. Evans. So much great reading in What Does God Think? and it is so well presented. "Hallalujah" Well done." Award Winning Author, Viga Boland (No Tears For My Father). "What Does God Think? does a great job of beginning a conversation. One that does not judge or condemn but offers valuable thought provoking insights. Ultimately, it delivers a message of truth about God's unconditional love and purposeful creation of each of us. As I have always believed, we are all part of the story which rises out of God's love and Jesus' teachings, transcending time. Love is like that. Good teaching is like that. They have iconoclastic power to draw humanity to the good however slow the process may be. This book has the power to bring comfort and spiritual healing to individuals seeking to understand how being transgender is not against God. It was a privilege to review What Does God Think? and in doing so I have expanded my knowledge about transgender people." The Reverend Dr. Janet Brigham Reader Review: "A must read for Christian Transgender issues I thought I was going to have to walk away from Christianity when my son came out as trans. There is hope that some people are open minded in the church." Edward. "This book perfectly sums up the seemingly inconsistent struggle between transgender people, the Christian Church, and God. Conflicting views abound and its easy to get confused especially when raising a transgender child yourself, having praised and loved God your whole life, only to be told by some that your child simply isn’t good enough or is actually possessed by demons. This book will dispel fears and gives a good wholesome perspective on the situation. Just breath, continue to love God, continue to love your child, and don’t let ‘other people’s opinions’ confuse you. Highly recommended." Catirona Borman

Book Amazingly Single

    Book Details:
  • Author : Tamara L. Smith
  • Publisher : CreateSpace
  • Release : 2011-05-07
  • ISBN : 9781460953839
  • Pages : 106 pages

Download or read book Amazingly Single written by Tamara L. Smith and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2011-05-07 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides information for single women on living saved, single, sanctified, satisfied lives all while waiting patiently on God to allow them to be found by their husband. The Bible is clear in Proverbs 18:22; the man is supposed to find his wife. The Bible does not say women should propose marriage so they can live happily ever after. We have to follow the entire Word of God not just the parts of the Bible that fit our lifestyles. Additionally the book explains in detail the fact that everyone will not get married because there were several single individuals in the Bible and this reality will remain true for some of us now. I realized there are so many single women wasting time trying to find a man when that is not what we are supposed to be doing. God allows us to be found by the man he has ordained for us to be married to. This is an important God given fact but the Women and Feminist Movements of the 1960s and 1970s have caused some of us to lose sight on what the word of God says about marriage. The movements helped us accomplish a lot as women and for that we are truly thankful but we cannot discount God's word in the process of becoming the woman we are supposed to be. We can remain strong, pursue job opportunities and still be saved by God's grace. Back cover text: Ladies, the Bible is clear in Proverbs 18:22 "He that finds a wife; finds a good thing and finds favor from the Lord." It does not read she that finds a husband will live happily ever after; therefore women are not supposed to look for their husbands because God gave men the task of looking for us; not the other way around. Amazingly Single includes important information on living a single, saved, sanctified, satisfied life while patiently waiting on God. We cannot apply certain parts of the Bible to our lives; we have to follow the whole word of God.

Lisa Whittle amplifies the solution to the heart cry of the "sick of me" life. It is in the heart of every person to want God, but life gets loud, and we forget Him. But Lisa Whittle believes that if we calibrate our attention, refocusing on God determines the perspective for everything in our life: what we fight for, what we tolerate, how we make decisions, what we choose, what we love, what we chase, what we let go of, and what we are willing to change. A guidebook, a teacher, and a resource, all in one, I Want God brings rich simplicity to life-altering principles, perfect for your personal Lenten reflection. With her signature boldness and raw authenticity, author and podcast host of The Jesus Over Everything podcast, Lisa Whittle inspires with bottom line truth when we want Him and experience a soul revival, there is no limit to what we will do for Him.

  • Pages : 294 pages

Download or read book Beyond Nostalgia written by Ruth E. Ray and published by University of Virginia Press. This book was released on 2000 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For three years, Ruth E. Ray visited and participated in eight writing groups at six senior centers in inner-city and suburban Detroit, looking for ways in which the elderly fashion their memories through personal narrative. Her innovative book involves the reader in the construction of life stories as a richly rewarding and highly social process that often reveals the types of relationships that dominate the lives of group members, the majority of whom are women. Because Ray wrote and responded herself and shares her anxiety and triumph in presenting her writing to women old enough to be her mother, some of a different race and class, Beyond Nostalgia is an excellent primer for professionals working with diverse groups in a variety of settings. It is also an important contribution to the emerging field of feminist gerontology. Ray's book demonstrates its own thesis that the presentation and negotiation of life stories in writing groups initiates change and personal growth among older people. Drawing on personal observations, the give-and-take of meeting conversations, lengthy interviews, and the life stories themselves, Ray tells a story of adult development through personal narrative. She recreates the group process through which age peers begin to articulate what life means, both individually and collectively. The writing groups of older adults that Ray studied challenged their members to consider not just cultural influences, but generational effects on the evolving content and structure of their life stories. Age, Ray argues, has been largely ignored by feminists and she makes a strong case for the need to learn how women make meaning of their lives across the life span. As an important document and analysis of that process, Beyond Nostalgia should appeal to academics and practitioners in women's studies, composition studies, gerontology, developmental psyschology, sociology, social work, and linguistics, and to anyone who works with older people.
