Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is it we all seem to want? It would seem that we all want some simple answers to a bunch of impossible questions. While there are simple answers, they are by no means easy. We just want people to tell us what we want to hear. We don't want anyone or anything to rock our boat. Isn't it a bit ironic that the very thing that we think is going to save us is also the same thing that produces the condition that we believe we need saving from? So relax, I have no intention of rocking the boat. When all is said and done, we may realize that there never was a boat to rock in the first place as well as many other timeless myths we live (and die) by. I have no intention of telling you what you want to hear. Unless, of course, this is what you want to hear. I am simply trying to put into words some things that have been burning in what I, at least, refer to as my human mind since I was a child. If this helps even one person (even if that one person is me) awaken to what is authentic and real within them, then it will have succeeded. I will let you be the one to make that call, as anything I say to this effect would serve only to persuade, and that is the last thing I am trying to do. Would you like to take a little journey? I assure you that reading this book will in no way endanger your immortal soul. Perfect Health and Clarity of Mind, --Victor

Book Imagine John Yoko

Download or read book Imagine John Yoko written by John Lennon and published by Grand Central Publishing. This book was released on 2018-10-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Personally compiled and curated by Yoko Ono, Imagine John Yoko is the definitive inside story-told in revelatory detail-of the making of the legendary album and all that surrounded it: the locations, the creative team, the artworks and the films, in the words of John & Yoko and the people who were there. Features 80% exclusive, hitherto-unpublished archive photos and footage sequences of all the key players in situ, together with lyric sheets, Yoko's art installations, and exclusive new insights and personal testimonies from Yoko and over forty of the musicians, engineers, staff, celebrities, artists and photographers who were there-including Julian Lennon, Klaus Voormann, Alan White, Jim Keltner, David Bailey, Dick Cavett and Sir Michael Parkinson. "A lot has been written about the creation of the song, the album and the film of Imagine, mainly by people who weren't there, so I'm very pleased and grateful that now, for the first time, so many of the participants have kindly given their time to 'gimme some truth' in their own words and pictures" -Yoko Ono Lennon, 2018 In 1971, John Lennon & Yoko Ono conceived and recorded the critically acclaimed album Imagine at their Georgian country home, Tittenhurst Park, in Berkshire, England, in the state-of-the-art studio they built in the grounds, and at the Record Plant in New York. The lyrics of the title track were inspired by Yoko Ono's "event scores" in her 1964 book Grapefruit, and she was officially co-credited as writer in June 2017. Imagine John Yoko tells the story of John & Yoko's life, work and relationship during this intensely creative period. It transports readers to home and working environments showcasing Yoko's closely guarded archive of photos and artifacts, using artfully compiled narrative film stills, and featuring digitally rendered maps, floorplans and panoramas that recreate the interiors in evocative detail. John & Yoko introduce each chapter and song; Yoko also provides invaluable additional commentary and a preface. All the minutiae is examined: the locations, the key players, the music and lyrics, the production techniques and the artworks-including the creative process behind the double exposure polaroids used on the album cover. With a message as universal and pertinent today as it was when the album was created, this landmark publication is a fitting tribute to John & Yoko and their place in cultural history.

Book Teaching for a Multifaith World

Download or read book Teaching for a Multifaith World written by Eleazar S. Fernandez and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2017-05-05 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When religious diversity is our reality, radical hospitality to people of other faiths is not a luxury but a necessity. More than necessary for our survival, radical hospitality to religious diversity is necessary if we are to thrive as a global society. By no means does the practice of hospitality in a multifaith world require that we be oblivious of our differences. On the contrary, it demands a respectful embrace of our differences because that's who we are. Neither does radical hospitality require that we water down our commitment, because faithfulness and openness are not contradictory. We must be able to say with burning passion that we are open to the claims of other faiths because we are faithful to our religious heritage. The essays in this book do not offer simply theological exhortations; they offer specific ways of how we can become religiously competent citizens in a multifaith world. Let's take the bold steps of radical openness with this book on our side!

Download or read book A Truly Golden Handbook written by Veerle Achten and published by Leuven University Press. This book was released on 2016-09-26 with total page 577 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What would the ideal society of the future look like? In 1516, the eminent English humanist Thomas More tried his hand at imagining a perfect society on a distant island. His Utopia was published in the Flemish town of Leuven, home of a university that was established almost a century earlier. 500 years later, scholars of this university revisit More’s best-known work and reflect on the ideal society of the future, using the scientific insights of today, including perspectives which More could never have imagined. What will our cities look like a hundred years from now? How will stem cell research and 3D printing change the world? Will we be able to cure all diseases? Will we be traveling to other planets? Will computers take over? Or will humanity find a way to improve the quality of life for everyone and feed a growing world population? In ‘A Truly Golden Handbook’, more than fifty KU Leuven scholars share their science-based utopian dreams. From the creation of spare organs, artificial intelligence and the genetic future, to global governance, ecological sustainability and pathways to more equality, this visionary book offers a broad interdisciplinary look at the world of tomorrow. Book Bafana Republic and Other Satires

Download or read book Bafana Republic and Other Satires written by Mike van Graan and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2020-06-01 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of satirical sketches takes readers on a sometimes cynical, sometimes hilarious trip through many of the issues that face democratic South Africa The seed of this collection was sown in 2007 when South Africa won the right to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The debate about huge amounts of public funds being spent on a 'vanity project' instead of being used to improve the lives of the majority of the country’s citizens inspired Mike van Graan, one of South Africa's leading contemporary political playwrights, to use sport as an entry point for satirical commentary. Van Graan follows this with piercing attention towards matters of the state. With themes ranging from the World Cup to the political football of land, from the violent abuse of women to state capture, this selection of satirical sketches takes readers on a rollercoaster trip through many of the issues that face democratic South Africa. The sketches come from six one-person revues, Bafana Republic (2007), Bafana Republic: Extra Time (2008), Bafana Republic: Penalty Shootout (2009), Pay Back the Curry (2016), State Fracture (2017) and Land Acts (2018). Van Graan uses a potent mix of comedy, poetry and drama to make points that hit hard at core issues which 21st-century South Africans are struggling with. Readers will laugh and cringe and sometimes cry, but one thing they will not be able to do is remain unaffected.

Book The Dreamers of Allianz

Download or read book The Dreamers of Allianz written by Antonio Chiareli and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2007-10 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the aftermath of the Great Digital Meltdown, human culture has been politically and technologically reinvented. The world's population now stands divided between a fast growing Cognit implanted majority and a non-implanted minority - respectively, the privileged and the excluded. For the followers of The Name, this means struggling against the evil Allianz Federation and the great deception of its popular dream-based metaphysical teachings, the Path of Transcienz. In the American South, members of a worldwide, faith-based Resistance movement have attracted the wrath of the Allianz leadership. Meanwhile, another type of dreaming - among non-implanted children - threatens the future of the entire Federation. As repression against enemies of the Allianz Code increases, the worldwide Resistance is forced to strategically move underground. Great peril and amazing hope collide in this gripping novel about the global underground Church decades in the future, during a time when non-conformity with the world system means persecution and risking everything for the glory of The Name.
