Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The future hope of heaven is pulled into the here-and-now in this illuminating description of the kingdom of God. Popular teacher and author R. Alan Streett exposes half-truths about the kingdom that many believers have unwittingly accepted. He contrasts these with the testimony of Scripture: Jesus inaugurated the kingdom of God on the earth—it has already begun. As ambassadors of the kingdom, we are to fulfill our responsibilities and enjoy its benefits here and now. Salvation does not culminate with the soul escaping the body and living forever in heaven. Our bodies will eventually be transformed, and we will live with God on a restored earth. The church is like an embassy of heaven in a foreign country. In their life together, believers demonstrate kingdom realities to the world. Readers will find hope and direction in this fresh presentation of the historic teaching on the kingdom.

Book Heaven on Earth

Download or read book Heaven on Earth written by Sharifa Oppenheimer and published by SteinerBooks. This book was released on 2006-08 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 6 lectures and an essay, 1919-1920 (CW 297) World War I destroyed the structures, values, and self-confidence that created the seeming greatness of the nineteenth century. In its place stood ruins and the shards of a civilization. In response to this, Emil Molt--the director of the Waldorf-Astoria Cigarette Factory and a student of Rudolf Steiner--decided to establish a school to educate people who could create a new culture. Thus, the Waldorf school movement was begun. Rudolf Steiner agreed to act as the school's consultant, and his insights guided the school in accomplishing this ambitious task. The goal of this education was that, through living inner work guided by the insights of Rudolf Steiner, the teachers would develop in the children such power of thought, depth of feeling, and strength of will that they would emerge from their school years as full members of the human community, able to meet and transform the world. These lectures occurred around the opening of the first Waldorf school. They serve as an excellent, inspiring introduction to Waldorf education as a whole. Here Steiner outlines--with freshness, immediacy, and excitement--the goals and intentions of a new form of education and speaks to parents of prospective students. He explains the school's guiding principles and describes how parents must participate, with understanding and interest, in the awakening of their children's creative forces so that a healthier society can come about. Book excerpt: So often, our view of the good life is the busy, exhausted, driven, and unhappy life. But what if there was a different way to live--now, not when we get to heaven, but now? A short list of “blessings” called the Beatitudes is Jesus’ declaration of what “the good life” is, and an invitation to immerse ourselves in it. If we understand the Beatitudes, we realize they are less about what we do and more about what God is doing--what God values, how he operates, and what’s he’s up to in our (actually his) world. Authors Seidman and Graves offer a practical guide to changing our course to realize the good life now.

Book What on Earth is Heaven

Download or read book What on Earth is Heaven written by James Paul and published by Inter-Varsity Press. This book was released on 2021-02-18 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What happens to us when we die? Will heaven be a place of fluffy clouds, angels and cherubs playing harps? Is the Christian faith just about securing a place in heaven when we die? In What on Earth is Heaven? James Paul explores the radical truth of what the Bible says about heaven and the afterlife, and its relevance for your life here and now on earth. Unpacking the biblical story of the separation and reunion of heaven and earth, he shows that heaven isn't a place somewhere 'out there' but a dimension of reality - the dimension where God's will is done. The Good News isn't that we get to escape to heaven, but that God invites us to be a part of his plan to bring the kingdom of heaven to our square inch of the earth. Insightful and accessible, What on Earth is Heaven? is a book for anyone wanting a deeper understanding of the Bible's teaching on heaven, or anyone who has wondered about the true meaning of finding heaven on earth. Life-affirming and uplifting, this book will fire your imagination as to how you can be a part of bringing heaven to the world around you.

Book excerpt: What on Earth will Happen? When God predicts the future, He isn t taking a risk or going out on a limb. He knows that future already. With Him, it s already an established fact. He doesn t just forecast the future, He has been there. In fact, He s there right now, just as surely as He is with us in the present moment. The Book of Revelation allows us to glimpse realities that are outside of time, in the eternal realm. It reminds us that our God lives in that eternal reality, and isn t bound by the pages in a calendar, the hours in a day, or the hands on a clock. He has no yesterday or tomorrow, because it s all just a continuum to Him. God can look at the future with as much clarity and accuracy as you and I might look at the recent past. God has perfect recollection and perfect foresight. When He says that a certain event will happen, it s as though it has already taken place. From our point of view, time seems to stretch on and on, but God isn t affected at all by the duration of time. As Peter noted, A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day (2 Peter 3:8, NLT). Greg Laurie In this exciting, comprehensive overview of the New Testament s final book, Greg Laurie shares insights drawn from a lifelong study of Bible prophecy and how it intersects with today s headlines

Book Heaven on Earth The Order and Meaning of Mass

Download or read book Heaven on Earth The Order and Meaning of Mass written by Ralph Barnett and published by eSoup Publishing. This book was released on 2024-02-24 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “We’re living through the greatest loss of faith in the history of the Catholic Church,” a refrain reverberating thru Catholic America. Likely, you are familiar with the statistics: · 25% percent decline in Mass attendance. · 15% of churches closed and/or consolidated. · 65% of Catholics do not believe in the Real Presence. · Catholicism, the largest Christian creed followed closely by fallen away Catholics. America’s religious decline is not new. Experts claim, “Christianity has been on decline since the removal of prayer from public schools in 1962.” Catholic school enrollment declined concurrently. Yet prayer was not removed from Catholic schools. Predictably, Mass attendance followed. What changed? Catholic authorities proffered explanations and recommendations; none of which stemmed the tide . . . a sure sign the root cause was not rightly identified. As a cradle-Catholic father, grandfather, and amateur student of Mass, I offer an assertion supported by my love of Catholicism, logic . . . and a book! “What changed” was the equivalent of removing the pillar of prayer from public schools . . . Mass was removed from Catholic catechesis - school, CCD, RCIA, adult formation, ambo, and domestic church. A cursory look at a Baltimore Catechism, the 1950-60s field manual for Catholics, reveals a 30-page segment, “Catechism of the Mass,” immersing students in liturgical details. A cursory look at current Catholic curricula reveals a paucity of information on Mass ranging from a few paragraphs in school texts to “take home” trifolds for CCD, RCIA, etc. Is Mass that important? Did you know Mass . . . · Is the most perfect way for man to praise and give thanks to God? · Is the only sacrifice perfect, pleasing, and acceptable to God? · Is the most sacred function of the Church, surpassing all others in efficacy? · Is the Church’s greatest prayer? · Is an offering for the whole Mystical Body of Christ? · Is the highest form of prayer for the faithful? · Is the Church’s #1 effort to save souls? · Is the same sacrifice Christ made on the Cross? · Is the perfect answer to prayer as it brings mercy and salvation Christ won for us? · Is required attendance every Sunday and six Holy Days a year but Communion only once? · Is the Source and Summit of our Faith? Seemingly, Mass is the answer to everything integral to Catholicism. Why is it not taught in Catholic education settings? How do we reverse the tide? Pope John Paul II: “Mass is Heaven on Earth. What we celebrate on Earth is a mysterious participation in the heavenly liturgy.” If Catholics realized Mass is tantamount to Heaven on Earth, would we be witnessing “the greatest loss of faith in the history of the Catholic Church?” Emphatically, “No.” As one Priest opined, “We’d have to double Masses and they’d be SRO.” We would witness the greatest flood of student enrollment and Mass attendance since the inception of Catholicism in America. We would have to double Catholic school classes and reopen shuttered schools and churches. Catholics must re-assess school, CCD, RCIA, adult formation and domestic church catechesis to make space for a deep dive into Mass. To fulfill the need, I submit a book series, “Heaven on Earth: The Order and Meaning of Mass:” · “Heaven on Earth” second edition text for adults. · “Curriculum” for students and educators. · “Workbook” of lesson reviews for students. “Heaven on Earth” is not a theological or academic treatise but a user-friendly, step-by-step guide to Mass for the faithful unlike anything available elsewhere. Author’s Promise: “You will never ever go to church, attend Mass, or receive Communion the same way again.”
