Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combining original theoretical ideas and interpretation with ethnographic evidence, Johnson and Earle seek to describe and account for the development of complex human societies. This second edition sees a complete re-writing of the theoretical chapters, taking account of recent research, plus a new chapter on changes since the Industrial Revolution and the globalisation of society.

Book Studying the Ya nomam

Download or read book Studying the Ya nomam written by Napoleon A. Chagnon and published by Holt McDougal. This book was released on 1974 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Napoleon Chagnon's well-known case study, Ya̦nomamö: the Fierce People, begins with a first chapter on doing fieldwork among them. It is one of the features of this case study that makes it one of the most widely used in this series. Ever since The Fierce People appeared in 1968 readers have expressed their strong interest in a more complete account of Chagnon's experiences and methods of research with the Ya̦nomamö. The present study is a response to this wish, and as the reader will discover, a very satisfying one. Studying the Ya̦nomamö is satisfying because in it Chagnon explains not only how he went about the collection of data, why he considered it important, and how he organized it analytically, but also because his personal experience is described in vivid detail. Much of what he describes is pure adventure of the kind that most field anthropologists encounter in some degree, but rarely in quite this dramatic a context, for there are few people remaining in this world like the Ya̦nomamö."--Page vi.

Book Research in Anthropological Topics

Download or read book Research in Anthropological Topics written by Alicia Meza and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2004-02-27 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to present a varied research within the four sub-fields of Anthropology: Archaeology, Ethnology, Linguistics and Biological Anthropology, as it was conceived by Frank Boaz. Perhaps my emphasis has been mostly in Archaeology, since I specialize in the Archaeology of Egypt and the Middle East. Nevertheless, I touch other topics as well. For instance sometimes I would connect archaeology and Egyptian art or literature and Egyptian linguistics. The total result has been a mixed of topics that relate in one way or another to Anthropology, the study of human behavior. Perhaps, if a student is looking for subjects to do term papers, or needs bibliography to start a research in a certain topic, this would be of help. I don't pretend that my research is paramount, but there are some subjects and investigations that are unique, as any truly research should be. I hope that the reader enjoys the vast amount of creativity human behavior can produce.
