Book A Handbook of Lattice Spacings and Structures of Metals and Alloys

Download or read book A Handbook of Lattice Spacings and Structures of Metals and Alloys written by W. B. Pearson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 1055 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Handbook of Lattice Spacing and Structures of Metals and Alloys is a 12-chapter handbook that describes the structures and lattice spacings of all binary and ternary alloys. This book starts with an introduction to the accurate determination of structure and lattice spacings. The subsequent chapters deal with the role of structure determination and lattice spacings in alloy formation, as well as the application of this determination to the equilibrium diagram examination. These topics are followed by discussions on the correlation of lattice spacing and magnetic property, including X-ray crystallographic data for those structures allotted a “Strukturbericht type. The remaining chapters contain table lists information about the crystal structures, densities, and expansion coefficients of the elements. These chapters also present further information about lattice spacing and structure determination on metals in alphabetical order. This book is of value to physicists and metallurgists.

Book Thermal Expansion of Alpha zirconium Single Crystals

Download or read book Thermal Expansion of Alpha zirconium Single Crystals written by Lowell T. Lloyd and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Single crystals of alpha zirconium were used to measure, between room temperature and 860 deg C, the thermal expansions in the two principal crystallographic directions of the hexagonal-close-packed structure. The measurements were made with a dilatation interferometer. Equations which represent the lengths along the a and c axes and volume as functions of temperature are included.

Book International Tables for Crystallography Volume C

Download or read book International Tables for Crystallography Volume C written by E. Prince and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-01-31 with total page 1033 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Tables for Crystallography are no longer available for purchase from Springer. For further information please contact Wiley Inc. (follow the link on the right hand side of this page). The purpose of Volume C is to provide the mathematical, physical and chemical information needed for experimental studies in structural crystallography. The volume covers all aspects of experimental techniques, using all three principal radiation types, from the selection and mounting of crystals and production of radiation, through data collection and analysis, to interpretation of results. As such, it is an essential source of information for all workers using crystallographic techniques in physics, chemistry, metallurgy, earth sciences and molecular biology.

Book X ray Diffraction Studies of Thermal Motions in Crystals

Download or read book X ray Diffraction Studies of Thermal Motions in Crystals written by R. A. Young and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Primarily through abstracts of reports and published papers, this final report recounts project work done from 1958 through 1966 on x-ray studies of thermal motions in crystals. Principal use was made of the temperature dependence of x-ray Bragg-reflection intensities. Precision was emphasized. Both new experimental procedures and new analytical procedures were developed to produce and to exploit the precision inherently available. Instrumental design and use strategy, X-specimen temperature control, understanding and control of the background, and wavelength control received extended attention. Analytic techniques were developed to yield from 'continuous' intensity-vs-temperature data, absolute Debye temperatures and separate measures of Na and Cl (or Ag and Cl) atomic thermal motions in crystals with NaCl structure. The resulting information was surprisingly detailed. For example, comparison with calculations based on the elastic spectrum of Al showed the experimentally observable quantities to be sensitive to a 5% scaling error in one branch of that spectrum. In an ancillary effort, the thermal coefficient of expansion of AgCl was determined over the range 120-710K and the activation energy for Frankel defects was determined. (Author).

Book X ray Determination of Lattice Parameters and Thermal Expansion Coefficients of Aluminum Silver and Molybdenum at Cryogenic Temperatures

Download or read book X ray Determination of Lattice Parameters and Thermal Expansion Coefficients of Aluminum Silver and Molybdenum at Cryogenic Temperatures written by Claude Lowell Woodard and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A multiple exposure back reflection diffraction camera was designed to mount on the vacuum jacket of a pressurized helium gas "Cryomite". With this design it is possible to obtain six diffraction exposures on a single film at any temperature in the range of 180 to 25°K. temperatures within this range are reached in short intervals and exposure periods are less than 30 minutes in a 2.875 inch (73.03 mm) diameter camera. Some of the advantages of this design are; direct measurements, multiple exposures on a single film, short exposures, direct compensation of film length changes due to evacuation or processing of the film, and easy determination of transformation changes. Since the camera design did not permit oscillation of the metal powder specimens, a particle size of 20 micron or less was required to produce continuous lines of less than 0.197 inch (0.50 mm) width at theta angles greater than 70 degrees"--Abstract, leaf [ii].
