Book excerpt: Big Talent, Huge Ego, and an Enormous… Everything. Josh- After years of hard work I finally landed my dream job as a musician with a major orchestra. When our new conductor with a name too hard to pronounce strutted on to the stage for the first time, he oozed a confident and cocky sex appeal that captivated me and every other person present. I was used to being the wallflower, the boy always picked last for the team. So when he demanded I meet him after work for a private rehearsal, I was shocked. Of course I went, only to discover my new conductor was a bit handsy, if you know what I mean. At first I thought I was reading too much into it, but the chemistry sparking between us was real. Serge was more than just my boss, he was a force of nature determined to make me his. Serge- Don’t fall in love. Ever. That’s how I lived my life, until I met him. When I first laid eyes on Joshua, all I could think of was how much I wanted to hear his voice screaming my name while I… you get the picture. I was coming dangerously close to falling for him, which could destroy me and the paper-thin walls I’d built to keep the world at bay. On the outside, I appeared to have everything a man could want. A successful career that spanned the globe, and a face that appeared on the covers of magazines. On the inside, I had a secret that could destroy us both. Mr. Mouthful is a red-hot read about a mercurial man who appears to have it all, but realizes he has nothing without the only man he loves by his side. It’s book three in The Boys of Oregon Hill Series and can be read as a stand-alone novel. Book Barbershops of America

Download or read book Barbershops of America written by Rob Hammer and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Barbershops are synonymous with great memories, and nostalgic by the smells and feeling of a fresh cut or shave. Barbershops of America is the product of a 7-year journey by Rob Hammer, who traveled to all 50 states of the USA, documenting the disappearing old-school barbershop and the men who were staples of their community. Photographs and stories chronicle the barbershops of old, but also capture the stark contrast that is the "next generation" of traditional barbers. These new-school barbers may look like the polar opposite of what a traditional barber would look like, yet despite the obvious difference in the way these professionals carry themselves, their purpose is consistent: to carry on the tradition that they love."--Back cover

Book Detroit Lenacrave and Cleveland

Download or read book Detroit Lenacrave and Cleveland written by Brooke! and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010-12 with total page 631 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was almost as hard headed as it gets while repeatedly insisting on missing and ignoring the entire point that Mom and a few others tried to get me to realize. "GET YOUR EDUCATION!!!" I still had some great times here and there every now and then, and I can only imagine how beautiful-my-life-would-have-been if I would have followed the "The Golden Rules." Some wonderful things have happened to me even though I still feel that I truly did not deserve or even know how to sincerely enjoy thoroughly, but on the other hand, some not so wonderful things have happened to me that I basically brought on myself as a direct result of not following "The Golden Rules." EDUCATION IS A MUST!!! I know my family was not the only family that has gone through a divorce, and I know there are millions of kids who went through divorce without a scratch. I am not blaming any of my failures as a man on the pitfalls of divorce, but I can clearly see now that my "character flaws" were a direct hit stemming from the casualties of my parents divorce. I did not ask to be me, and I certainly did not ask or expect to be stuck on stupid for almost three tenths of a century. It was what it was! If I would have known their divorce would eventually effect me which I believe set the wheels in motion that turned towards me turning out the way I have, I would have started Praying that night. But I had no idea it would, and neither did they. I can only imagine how beautiful my life would have been if their marriage was meant to be, but it was not about me. Brooke!

Book Full Circle

Download or read book Full Circle written by Andrea Barber and published by Citadel. This book was released on 2019-11-12 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: She grew up in front of the world on the beloved sitcom Full House, but then actress Andrea Barber abruptly left Hollywood. Why did she leave and what did she do for twenty years out of the spotlight before returning to television? This is her funny and inspiring memoir of fame, heartache, resilience—and the reboot of a lifetime . . . When Kimmy Gibbler burst into the Tanners’ home on Full House in 1987, audiences immediately connected with the confident and quirky pre-teen character, played by ten-year-old actress Andrea Barber. During an eight-season run on one of the most popular series of the ‘80s and ‘90s, Andrea came of age in front of millions. But she was as far removed from her character as a girl can get. The introverted young star was plagued with self-doubt, insecurities, and debilitating anxieties that left her questioning her identity after the show’s cancelation. Andrea wouldn’t return to the public eye until 2016, for Fuller House. So what happened in those intervening decades that Andrea jokingly calls “the lost years”? For starters, Andrea never stopped working. But it was on a series of life-changing transitions: earning a college degree, then a Master’s, building a career in international education, getting married, and starting a family. She also faced some unforeseeable transitions: navigating a sudden divorce after nearly twelve years of marriage, and second-guessing her capabilities as a single mother. But it was her devastating bout with post-partum anxiety and depression that derailed Andrea’s life—and became a crucial turning point. Full Circle is a raw, refreshingly honest look into the life of a celebrity who has never been fully comfortable in the spotlight. Here Andrea shares her deeply personal struggles with mental health in a way she has never done before. She opens up about fighting her way back and finding solace—while finding herself—all before her life came full circle with her costars and lifelong friends on Fuller House. Sharing her journey from child star, to champion of mental health, and back to stardom, Andrea writes in a way that feels like catching up with an old friend. You’ll laugh, reminisce, and finally get to know the woman behind the zany next door neighbor.

Download or read book The 2nd Second written by Leonardo DeSanctis and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2000-12 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Imagine tomorrow that you packed everything you owned in a bag and just disappeared? You forgot about your family, a job, taxes, credit card bills, traffic and all the other headaches of life. You just split. Not giving a single thought to where you were going or what you were going to do when you got there. You lived completely by impulse. Sounds good, doesn't it? Well, what's stopping you? That's exactly what Nello Di Latio would say. Nello is twenty-two, likes looking at himself in the mirror, watching five movies in a row, drinking Rum and Diet Cokes and living his life by a coin toss. According to him, life on-the-go gives him "countless opportunities" in just under a second and, "It's the 2nd second that really counts. That's when you either go for it or you miss out forever." Since he finished college the previous year, this fast-lane lifestyle has worked for him. He's backpacked through Europe and the United States on about twenty bucks a day. "There's never a minute when I pause and reflect because I'm always moving," he says. "I bet you can't wait to see where I'll be next. Well, neither can I." The only thing that fascinates Nello more than living his life by impulse, is his love of movies. He sees his life as one giant movie with a Classic Rock soundtrack and him as the star. But a movie has to have a point. Nello slowly begins to realize that he can't float forever. But where will a guy end up that follows women from bus stops and that allows fortune cookies and traffic signs to dictate his future? This novel begins in on a deserted highway in Texas and ends in a hospital bathroom in New York City four days later. During this time, Nello learns that his traveling days are numbered. What makes this novel intriguing is Nello's unusual journal entries that take him, "no more than two minutes. Life's too short to waste time with bullshit details," he says. Through his passages we get to know him and his Gen X culture and mentality. Aside from an occasional flash fantasy and a flashback, the story is all present action. The 2nd Second was written for anyone who ever got carried away with their imagination, their passion for travel and experience, and their own personal happiness.

Book The Saddest Music Ever Written

Download or read book The Saddest Music Ever Written written by Thomas Larson and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2010-09-15 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An exploration of the cultural impact of Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, the Pieta of music, and its enigmatic composer. "Whenever the American dream suffers a catastrophic setback, Barber’s Adagio plays on the radio.” —Alex Ross, author of The Rest is Noise In the first book ever to explore Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, music and literary critic Thomas Larson tells the story of the prodigal composer and his seminal masterpiece: from its composition in 1936, when Barber was just twenty-six, to its orchestral premiere two years later, led by the great Arturo Toscanini, and its fascinating history as America’s secular hymn for grieving our dead. Older Americans know Adagio from the funerals and memorials for Presidents Roosevelt and Kennedy, Albert Einstein, and Grace Kelly. Younger Americans recall the work as the antiwar theme of the movie Platoon. Still others treasure the piece in its choral version under the name Agnus Dei. More recently, mourners heard Adagio played as a memorial to the victims of the 9/11 attacks. Barber’s Adagio is truly the saddest music ever written, enrapturing listeners with its lyric beauty as few laments have. The Adagio’s sonorous intensity also speaks of the turbulent inner life of its composer, Samuel Barber (1910-1981), a melancholic who, in later years, descended into alcoholism and severe depression. Part biography, part cultural history, part memoir, The Saddest Music ever Written captures the deep emotion Barber’s great elegy has stirred throughout the world during its seventy-five-year history, becoming an icon of our national soul.
