Book Management Strategies for Water Use Efficiency and Micro Irrigated Crops

Download or read book Management Strategies for Water Use Efficiency and Micro Irrigated Crops written by Megh R. Goyal and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-02-01 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Management Strategies for Water Use Efficiency and Micro Irrigated Crops presents new research and technologies for making better use of water resources for agricultural purposes. The chapters focus on better management to improve allocation and irrigation water efficiency and look at performance factors as well. Chapters look at irrigation technology, environmental conditions, and scheduling of water application. One section of the book focuses on water management in the cultivation of sugarcane, a very important industrial crop used in many fields. Other sections are devoted to principles and challenging technologies, water use efficiency for drip-irrigated crops, performance of fertigated rice under micro irrigation, and evaluation of performance of drip-irrigated crops. This valuable book is a must for those struggling to find ways to address the need to maintain efficient crop production in the midst of water shortages. With chapters from hands-on experts in the field, the book will be an invaluable reference and guide to effective micro irrigation methods.

Book WORLD VEGETABLE AND TUBER CROPS

Download or read book WORLD VEGETABLE AND TUBER CROPS written by Ratikanta Maiti and published by American Academic Press. This book was released on 2017-08-14 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vegetables are rich and cheaper sources of vitamins. They supply good taste and palatability, increase appetite, provide fibres for digestion and prevent constipation. They also play an important role in neutralizing acids produced during digestion of proteinaceous and fatty foods and provides valuable roughages which help in the movement of food in intestine. On the other hand, tuber crops are rich sources of carbohydrates, energy and nutrients. No other books are available which deal with various aspects of crop productivity, physiology and post-harvest technology. In the world, many vegetables and tuber crops are grown and harvested for the supplying nutrients to mankind. This book deals with utilization, production technology, water and nutrient management, weed and pest management, disease management, physiological basis of crop productivity, abiotic stress factors affecting crop productivity and post-harvest technology of several vegetables and tuber crops. It deals with pre- and harvest technologies influencing the productivity of both world vegetables and world crops. The book contains an insight, Solanaceous vegetables, cucurbit vegetables, cole crops, leafy vegetables, root and tuber crops, bulb crops, leguminous crops and several other ones. The book will be highly useful to students and researchers working on various aspects of vegetables and tuber crops.

Book Fertilisation Strategies for Improving Nutrient Utilisation in Field grown Potatoes and Vegetables

Download or read book Fertilisation Strategies for Improving Nutrient Utilisation in Field grown Potatoes and Vegetables written by Nordic Council of Ministers and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2009 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deteriorating water quality in Europe led to the introduction of the EU Water Framework Directive, one of the most comprehensive EU directives formulated to date. The Directive replaces the previous fragmentary collection of directives and management strategies for water and facilitates integrated policy. An overarching perspective on Europe's water resources will lead the way to the ultimate goal: to create and maintain good water status and sustainable water use. This overarching perspective permeates the new water administrations, which are based on catchment area. The countries of Europe have been divided into water districts, each managed by a separate water authority. The role of the water authorities is to make decisions regarding the environmental goals for water and ensure that these goals are achieved within their individual district. The main tools available are introduction of remediation programmes and management plans, which will place demands on all actors within the catch-ment area who are using or influencing the water. The ability of these actors to co-operate and collaborate with each other and their implementation of remedial measures in practice will be decisive in achieving the goals. One of the most important actors in catchment areas with intensive cropping are potato and vegetable growers.

Book RESEARCH ADVANCES IN VEGETABLE SCIENCE

Download or read book RESEARCH ADVANCES IN VEGETABLE SCIENCE written by Humberto González Rodríguez and published by American Academic Press. This book was released on 2018-11-01 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book Research Advances in Vegetable Science is an outstanding contribution of the authors in the field of advancement of the vegetable researches all over the World. The book entitles from the seed germination and its necessity of establishment in the new environment where physiological responses are influenced by both biotic and abiotic factors. Priming is a simple technique that not only helps in proper germination but aid in seedling establishment. Phonotypical and physiological responses of different vegetable crops are of significant importance in relation to factors like nutrients, salinity, disease-pest attacks. Physiological and biochemical basis of tolerance to salinity is very important that may help in the evaluation and selection of pipeline hybrids and parents lines using a novel technique. Biotic factors are major constraints in crop production, so proper management strategies and control measures must be taken for potential outcome. In this book, a special emphasis was given on food value and food chemistry of different vegetable crops. Major aspects like nutritional value of fresh vegetable as well as food value, post-harvest physiology and processing, storage and food quality, medicinal values, food chemistry and food biotechnology have been discussed in lucid manner.
