Book excerpt: Everybody who is interested in working in India now has a resource to their make life easier. Knowledge Must's new guide book 'Work in India' is an in-depth resource featuring authoritative information on all important aspects of working as a foreigner in India. In this time of increasingly competitive labour markets, people all around the world look for challenging job opportunities beyond their home countries. India has emerged as one of the cultural and economic hotspots of the 21st century, and has developed into a major competence centre in fields as varied as IT, engineering, and the entertainment industry. "I have a good French diploma," says political science student Barbara Vassou, "but still, it is not easy to find a suitable job for me in France and I don't want to live in a 15 square metre box in Paris anymore after six years of hard studies. In India, as a young professional, my life is much more comfortable and more exciting, too. All the information I need about how to organise my life in India is covered in this guide!" Knowledge Must invites everybody to take a chance to experience one of the most captivating societies in our globalising world and witness one of the oldest, and at the same time most forward-looking, cultures. "In India you can find lots of employment opportunities in fields as varied as IT, media, and development work. However, you need to be prepared to immerse yourself in the complex Indian culture to ensure your personal and professional satisfaction", states author Daniel Ratheiser. Life for foreigners joining the Indian labour market will be so much easier once they figured out the Indian cultural environment. In addition to answering the most pressing questions, the guide features valuable insights ranging from logistics such as visa procedures and accommodation arrangements to cultural background information and inspiration for how to spend one's leisure time. This publication guides readers to a deeply satisfying experience when coming to India for work.

Book Hacking Chinese

  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2016-03-26

Download or read book Hacking Chinese written by Olle Linge and published by . This book was released on 2016-03-26 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Learning Chinese can be frustrating and difficult, partly because it's very different from European languages. Following a teacher, textbook or language course is not enough. They show you the characters, words and grammar you need to become proficient in Chinese, but they don't teach you how to learn them! Regardless of what program you're in (if any), you need to take responsibility for your own learning. If you don't, you will miss many important things that aren't included in the course you're taking. If you study on your own, you need to be even more aware of what you need to do, what you're doing at the moment and the difference between them. Here are some of the questions I have asked and have since been asked many times by students: How do I learn characters efficiently? How do I get the most out of my course or teacher? Which are the best learning tools and resources? How can I become fluent in Mandarin? How can I improve my pronunciation? How do I learn successfully on my own? How can I motivate myself to study more? How can I fit learning Chinese into a busy schedule? The answers I've found to these questions and many others form the core of this book. It took eight years of learning, researching, teaching and writing to figure these things out. Not everybody has the time to do that! I can't go back in time and help myself learn in a better way, but I can help you! This book is meant for normal students and independent language learners alike. While it covers all major areas of learning, you won't learn Chinese just by reading this book. It's like when someone on TV teaches you how to cook: you won't get to eat the delicious dish just by watching the program; you have to do the cooking yourself. That's true for this book as well. When you apply what you learn, it will boost your learning, making every hour you spend count for more, but you still have to do the learning yourself. This is what a few readers have said about the book: "The book had me nodding at a heap of things I'd learnt the hard way, wishing I knew them when I started, as well as highlighting areas that I'm currently missing in my study." - Geoff van der Meer, VP engineering "This publication is like a bible for anyone serious about Chinese proficiency. It's easy for anyone to read and written with scientific precision." - Zachary Danz, foreign teacher, children's theatre artist About me I started learning Chinese when I was 23 (that's more than eight years ago now) and have since studied in many different situations, including serious immersion programs abroad, high-intensity programs in Sweden, online courses, as well as on the side while working or studying other things. I have also successfully used my Chinese in a graduate program for teaching Chinese as a second language, taught entirely in Chinese mostly for native speakers (the Graduate Institute for Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at National Taiwan Normal University). All these parts have contributed to my website, Hacking Chinese, where I write regularly about how to learn Mandarin.

Book The China Employment Law Guide

Download or read book The China Employment Law Guide written by Grace Yang and published by TCKPublishing.com. This book was released on 2017-08-15 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The China Employment Law Guide addresses various key China labor and employment issues all employers (especially foreign companies doing business in China) and employees (especially expats seeking a job or working in China) need to address or understand. It provides practical and easy-to-understand answers to China labor and employment questions from hiring through firing and nearly all things in between. For example, it addresses the issues China employers constantly confront on matters ranging from what they need to consider in drafting their employment contracts, what should go into a China-centric employer set of rules and regulations and why such a document is essential at all, how to hire, how to fire, overtime, vacation time, pregnancy leave, probation terms, employee benefits, and even lifetime employment. Perhaps most importantly, it confronts head on the many myths Western companies have about China employment laws and discusses how those myths can cause so many problems. This book consists mostly of blog posts and articles my colleagues and I have authored over the years on our award-winning China Law Blog. We do our best to make these articles (and this book) as concise and readable as possible because to provide our readers with accessible legal and practical answers that work in the real world. Unless absolutely necessary, this means we do not go into the weeds in citing and explaining China's employment rules and regulations, but we instead lay out clear paths forward for dealing with real-life employment law issues and problems. China's labor and employment laws are complex and local and constantly evolving, and so in many cases, we write not so much to provide the right answers for your specific situation, but to arm you with the right questions you must ask to get the right answers.

Book Li Da And Marxist Philosophy In China

Download or read book Li Da And Marxist Philosophy In China written by Nick Knight and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-02-23 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Scholars of Marxism will be in Nick Knight's debt for this pioneering study of one of the most important figures in the development of Marxism in China. Knight makes an important case about the relationship of Chinese Marxist thought to Marxist thought in general (with particular attention to Soviet Marxism). The book makes available to readers not just important texts of Chinese Marxism, but a whole series of texts of Marxism that were crucial to the political discourse of the thirties. Knight displays impressive erudition and command of these texts. In spite of the strong case he makes for his thesis, he retains throughout an admirable critical self-awareness that enhances the plausibility of his argument." —Arif DirlikDuke University

Book The Subtle Logics of Knowledge Conflicts in China s Foreign Enterprises

Download or read book The Subtle Logics of Knowledge Conflicts in China s Foreign Enterprises written by Constanze Wang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-05-04 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates knowledge interactions in China’s foreign enterprises. It reveals that cultural differences strongly account for knowledge-related obstacles, namely knowledge leakage and insufficient knowledge sharing. Contrary to conventional wisdom, however, widespread cultural arguments such as Confucianism or collectivism hardly apply to Chinese employees’ handling of knowledge. In fact, more subtle cultural logics are relevant in daily work, which are connected to the perceived stability of the enterprise itself. But these usually go unnoticed. Thus, rather than being distracted by a national “Chinese culture”, managers can take real action to solve knowledge conflicts in their particular enterprise.
