Book WOMEN Portrait Photography 2

Download or read book WOMEN Portrait Photography 2 written by Fabio Giuliano Stella and published by . This book was released on 2020-12-27 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 100 and more Women Photographic Portraits. 100 and more moments of Gold !! What I have learned from women is much more then I expected. And more then I can really understand. Photographic Portraits of Women can only hardly represent the richness and complexity of nuance that a woman can feel, express, suggest. A Portrait Experience has very little to do with photography, complex techniques, or expensive cameras. Those are not so relevant. Necessary knowledge, but that is not the focus. Respect, self-awareness, dialogue and trust are needed to wellcome a woman willing to be portrayed. Consequently the magic will happen. Women who judge themselves to much and force themselves into a predifined image, reveal their beauty when they are loved, respected and listened. If we are able to be true to ourselves, and communicate correctly, a shooting session can be such an engaging and evolutionary experience. Fears fade away, words vanish in silence, and the gaze of Women blossoms. It is a miracle !! Beauty spread its flavours in silence and peace. That's it. Portraiture photography is like a prayer. Two people meet, and let the dialogue come from within. Without judging too much, without borders. In this 2nd Volume of Portraits you will find portraits of women I have never met before, that I invited for a shooting session. Most of them are not "models". Sometimes I made with my hands clothes..made with little fabrics, paper sheets, cartoon...newspapers. It has been a journey into Beauty selecting the photos for this book, and I am sure it will be the same for you taking a look at these images. If I can get you 1% of the same emotions I felt while taking these shots...please let me know... Buy this book, and you will bring with you moments of Beauty, Seduction and Wonder. Wraped in all these Women eyes. Selected for your eyes. Have a nice journey.

Book Women Street Photographers

Download or read book Women Street Photographers written by Gulnara Samoilova and published by National Geographic Books. This book was released on 2021-03-02 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With a rising number of women throughout the world picking up their cameras and capturing their surroundings, this book explores the work of 100 women and the experiences behind their greatest images. Traditionally a male-dominated field, street photography is increasingly becoming the domain of women. This fantastic collection of images reflects that shift, showcasing 100 contemporary women street photographers working around the world today, accompanied by personal statements about their work. Variously joyful, unsettling and unexpected, the photographs capture a wide range of extraordinary moments. The volume is curated by Gulnara Samoilova, founder of the Women Street Photographers project: a website, social media platform and annual exhibition. Photographer Melissa Breyer's introductory essay explores how the genre has intersected with gender throughout history, looking at how cultural changes in gender roles have overlapped with technological developments in the camera to allow key historical figures to emerge. Her text is complemented by a foreword by renowned photojournalist Ami Vitale, whose career as a war photographer and, later, global travels with National Geographic have allowed a unique insight into the realities of working as a woman photographer in different countries. In turns intimate and candid, the photographs featured in this book offer a kaleidoscopic glimpse of what happens when women across the world are behind the camera.

Book Our Selves Photographs by Women Artists

Download or read book Our Selves Photographs by Women Artists written by Roxana Marcoci and published by . This book was released on 2022-04-19 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How have women artists used photography as a tool of resistance? Our Selves explores the connections between photography, feminism, civil rights, Indigenous sovereignty and queer liberation Spanning more than 100 years of photography, the works in Our Selves range from a turn-of-the-century photograph of racially segregated education in the United States, by Frances Benjamin Johnston, to a contemporary portrait celebrating Indigenous art forms, by the Chemehuevi artist Cara Romero. As the title of this volume suggests, Our Selves affirms the creative and political agency of women artists. A critical essay by curator Roxana Marcoci asks the question "What is a Feminist Picture?" and reconsiders the art-historical canon through works by Claude Cahun, Tina Modotti, Carrie Mae Weems, Catherine Opie and Hulleah J. Tsinhnahjinnie, among others. Twelve focused essays by emerging scholars explore themes such as identity and gender, the relationship between educational systems and power, and the ways in which women artists have reframed our received ideas about womanhood. Published in conjunction with a groundbreaking exhibition of photographs by women artists--drawn exclusively from MoMA's collection, thanks to a transformative gift of photographs from Helen Kornblum in 2021--this richly illustrated catalog features more than 100 color and black-and-white plates. As we continue to aspire to equity and diversity, Our Selves contributes vital insights into figures too often relegated to the margins of our cultural imagination.

This collection engages with current issues in an effort to deepen understanding, encourage ongoing reflection and build a more just future. Book Women s Albums and Photography in Victorian England

Download or read book Women s Albums and Photography in Victorian England written by PatriziaDi Bello and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This beautifully illustrated study recaptures the rich history of women photographers and image collectors in nineteenth-century England. Situating the practice of collecting, exchanging and displaying photographs and other images in the context of feminine sociability, Patrizia Di Bello shows that albums express Victorian women's experience of modernity. The albums of individual women, and the broader feminine culture of collecting and displaying imagesare examined, uncovering the cross-references and fertilizations between women's albums and illustrated periodicals, and demonstrating the way albums and photography, itself, were represented in women's magazines, fashion plates, and popular novels. Bringing a sophisticated eye to overlooked images such as the family photograph, Di Bello not only illustrates their significance as historical documents but elucidates the visual rhetorics at play. In doing so, she identifies the connections between Victorian album-making and the work of modern-day amateurs and artists who use digital techniques to compile and decorate albums with Victorian-style borders and patterns. At a time when photographic album-making is being re-vitalised by digital technologies, this book rewrites the history of photographic albums, placing the female collector at its centre and offering an alternative history of photography focused on its uses rather than on its aesthetic or artistic considerations. It is remarkable in elegantly connecting the history of photography with the fields of material culture and women's studies.

Book The Suffrage Photography of Lena Connell

Download or read book The Suffrage Photography of Lena Connell written by Colleen Denney and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2021-10-20 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lena Connell was one of a new breed of young professional women who took up photography at the turn of the 20th century. She ran her own studio in North London, only employed women, and made her mark on history by creating compellingly modern portraits of women in the British suffrage movement. The women that Connell captured on film are as class-inclusive a group as you could find: whether they were factory workers, schoolteachers, or aristocrats, they joined the cause to make a difference for future generations of women, if not for themselves. Connell's portraits created a new kind of visibility for these activists as hard-working, unrelenting women, whose spirits rose above injustice. This book examines Connell's artistic career within the Edwardian suffrage movement. It discusses her body of portraits within the British suffrage movement's propagandistic efforts and its goals of sophisticated, professional representations of its members. It includes all of her known portraits of suffragettes through 1914.
