Book excerpt: Wither The Nigerian Church?Searchlight on the Nigerian Church and Impacts on the nations of the world by Prophet Victoria AdekoyaThis is a prophetic action book on the Nigerian Church and how it impacts the nations of the world. This particular series covers the period between 1993 to end 2016, cutting across the length and breadth of Nigeria. The searchlight touches on Churchs, Politicians, Government, ethnic groups, Islam, Boko Haram ravaging the country, corruption and occult influence and control over the territory of Nigeria. It gives vivid account of the happening here in the nation of Nigeria and how it will impact events from around the world prophetically including United States of America, Great Britain, Asia and other parts of Africa as the days dawn. One of my spiritual sons made a remark the other day that highlighted the agonies in God's heart about the current climate of the Nigerian Church. He said " The world is better than the Church". He works as an administrative staff in a church and had seen the ways of the clergy in his place of work. A few days later, I was discussing about the prayer pattern of the Nigerian church with a young pastor friend of mine. I told him that God is not happy with it because it negates His desire for the body of Christ in the nation. The pastor said "Any pastor who does not lead prayers in that pattern will have very few or no members in his church".It was revealed to me on 20 of October 1994, while praying in England that God wants to use Nigeria in the nations in this End-time before Jesus comes. Prior to this, in 1993, God had led me to scatter physically a church in North-central zone of Nigeria and to tell the occultic pastor that he would lose everything he was doing and end up in hell. He later sent someone to thank me for what I did. As a follow up to the revelation I received in 1994, God led me in 2001 to go to Lokoja to pray for Nigeria at the confluence of the two rivers that traverses the country. It was while praying in room 12 at Confluence Motel Adankolo junction in Lokoja that He gave me the second name of the ministry The Jury Ministry and He told me to use it to kill and destroy what He has not allowed in the church and the nations. Jer.1:10. Between that 2001 and 2006, I have been led by God to go to various areas of the country to intercede and deliver His messages to various groups in the country to let them know their roles in God's End-time assignment and prepare themselves to go ahead to perform them.I have been led to Ogoni land-representing our resource base, Tiv land-representing militancy, Ijebu land-representing economic control and syncretism in the church and Igbo land- representing Nigerians' penchant for travelling and the worship of mammon. I have been led to write Spiritual profiles of some countries of various continents of the world. Europe, Middle East, Asia and North-America. I have also done a zone by zone Spiritual profile of Nigeria and also written some Newsletters under a general caption-'His Word for Now' in which I highlighted areas where true Christians should check their spiritual standing and their preparedness to carry the gospel to the nations starting from our environment.

Book The Transformation of African Christianity

Download or read book The Transformation of African Christianity written by Sunday Jide Komolafe and published by Langham Publishing. This book was released on 2013-02-14 with total page 475 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The explosion of the church in Nigeria is phenomenal, with a forward momentum that is as remarkable as the missionary optimism of the first century Church. The history reveals a tightly woven narrative of the process of beginnings, growth, and change. The Transformation of African Christianity is a systematic ecclesiological reflection on the extent to which the understanding and practice of ‘church’ have changed during one and a half centuries of Christianity in Nigeria. This provides pastors and practitioners with an interpretive framework for a contextual yet biblical way of doing church as Nigeria moves into the future. It will also give the theorist a missiological and theological compass to guide the work of theorizing and provide symmetry of understanding and interpretation in the ongoing appraisal of non-Western and global Christianity.

Book Nigeria s Christian Revolution

Download or read book Nigeria s Christian Revolution written by Richard Burgess and published by OCMS. This book was released on 2008 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nigeria has become the arena of one of the most remarkable religious movements of recent times, reflecting the shift in the global center of Christianity from the North to the South. This book tells the story of one sector of this movement from its root in the Nigerian civil war to the turn of the new millenium. It describes a revival that occurred among the Igbo people of Eastern Nigeria and the new Pentecostal churches it generated and documents the changes that have occurred as the movement has responded to global flows and local demands. As such, it explores the nature of revivalist and Pentecostal experience but does so against the backdrop of local socio-political and economic developments, such as decolonization and civil war, as well broader processes, such as modernization and globalization.

Book The Seduction of the Nigerian Church

Download or read book The Seduction of the Nigerian Church written by Gary S Maxey and published by . This book was released on 2020-07-28 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a daring and no-holds-barred description of the false teachings and dangerous trends that have sent much of the Nigerian Church off course over the past four decades. Gary Maxey is joined by Peter Ozodo in describing four major threats to Christian orthodoxy that are threatening the orthodoxy of Nigerian Christianity. The first is the unbalanced Prosperity Gospel that is shown to be an import from the scripturally unbalanced American Word of Faith movement. The second is the revival of African Traditional Religion within the Church. The third threat is a subtle redefining of Christian spirituality, moving away from sound foundations in biblical morality. The fourth threat is the contemporary Hyper Grace movement, found in the teachings of Singapore's Joseph Prince and a host of American imitators. All four of these threats have become deeply entrenched in various sectors of the Nigerian Church. With a powerful Introduction by Gbile Akanni, this book is a must-read by every Nigerian pastor, as well as discerning lay people. Maxey and Ozodo not only point out the problems but they point to clear solutions. Their conviction is that before we can expect a national spiritual revival in Nigeria we must first see a clear reformation in which these and other errors are clearly dealt with.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Essay from the year 2015 in the subject Theology - Practical Theology, grade: B+, language: English, abstract: The activities of the Boko Haram sects in Nigeria have negatively affected the Nigerian society. The socio-economic, political and religious aspects of the Nigerian society have a lot due to the activities of the Boko Haram sects especially in the northern parts of Nigeria. The Bishop of Kaduna Diocese of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Reverend Josiah Idowu-Fearon, observed that violence and insurgency has destroyed the economic, social and religious lives of the people of Kaduna State. This can also be said of all the Boko Haram stricken states in northern Nigeria. He pointed out that "The entire North-east of the country, Jos and Kano are almost completely isolated economically, socially and politically..." This essay outlines and discusses some of the impacts of the Boko Haram sects on both the Church and the society in Nigeria.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the Nigerian Church transitions from the 2019 election into a new phase; the Lord God YHWH is bringing the Nigerian Church into the Herod Era. An era where the President of Nigeria will be used by the Lord to discipline the Church, and leaders who have compromised on the truth. This book Herod, the Church & Nigeria is a continuation of the prophetic sequence described in our pre-election book, The Scroll & The Seal . This book describes post-elections events about to unfold in the Nigerian Church history, the Nigerian Political Sphere; and the continent of Africa as revealed by the Lord Jesus, through the Holy Spirit. The Church, being the foundation of the nation is polluted and the Lord is set to do the great works of deep cleansing. In this season, the spirit of Herod will stretch out his hand upon some Church leaders for discipline. Many opponents of the Church will praise Herod; then will the Church wake up from its slumber, abandon the feasting tables and entertainment gatherings to cry out to Yahweh in holiness and humility. After the great persecution, the sleeping Church will repent and lead Nigerians on their knees in prayers and humility. Only true humility with pure worship resurrect dead altars and gain God's mercies. Authority once lost will be restored to the Church. There will be a great awakening; revival will spread around Africa, and to the rest of world. Nigeria will be known for humility and true worship; and Nigeria will lead the world in the many spheres especially technology. Africa will come on the center stage of the world. But you have a part to play! Your part begins now as you read this book.

Book Christian Churches and Nigeria s Political Economy of Oil and Conflict

Download or read book Christian Churches and Nigeria s Political Economy of Oil and Conflict written by Nkem Emerald Osuigwe and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2014-09-18 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The received account on African evangelical Christianity regarding social witness in a section of Western scholarship is that it is anti-development and a-political. Such an account heavily draws from an instrumentalist and functionalist assessment of such Christianity without recourse to its emic perspective. Using the case-study method, this book presents an ethnographic examination of this functionalist reading by investigating, describing and analysing evangelical Christian theological and socio-political consciousness within the context of oil and conflict in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region. Adopting approaches from practical theology, congregational studies, and anthropology of religion, the author challenges such a reading using data gathered from three congregations in the region. His discourse revolves around answers to the following four critical questions: • What are the underlying theological issues and beliefs of Nigerian evangelical Christians within the context of oil and conflict? • What is their prevalent praxis within the context of Nigeria’s political economy of oil and conflict? •How accurate is the received account that African evangelical and ‘fundamentalist’ Christianity lacks social responsibility and is a-political and anti-development? • What would a contextual political theology for Nigeria’s political economy of oil look like? The theological issues are varied and the prevalent praxis nuanced, which then serves as a veritable critique of the claim that African evangelical Christianity lacks social responsibility due to its preoccupation with soul-winning. Whereas such Christianity places much emphasis on the winning of souls as an expression of its spirituality, it is neither oblivious nor indifferent to its socio-political milieu. Rather it sees such spirituality as a form of political praxis. Some of the trajectories of the spirituality include a theology of conversion, a theology of prayer, and an ethics of crude oil, with Total Freedom as the nomenclature for the specific theological perspective offered for Nigeria’s political economy of oil. While locating this theological perspective within the taxonomy of Liberation Theology, the affinity and dissonance between the two are identified.

Book Poverty Alleviation and the Church in Nigeria

Download or read book Poverty Alleviation and the Church in Nigeria written by Emmanuel T. Okogwa and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-07-11 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poverty exists everywhere in the world where human beings live. No country or community is exempted from the global phenomenon of poverty. It is exemplified in the absence or denial of basic human necessities such as food, shelter, and clothing, which are needed for the enjoyment of the minimum standard of living. Other factors such as the availability of electricity, food security, good healthcare system, good roads, portable water, and other safety nets, have impact on human populations. However, the negative or positive effects of these factors depend on the ability of every country to sincerely confront the problem of poverty. While some countries have successfully utilized their available resources to reduce the impact of poverty on their citizens, others have been unable to achieve much progress. Some countries lack the resources to reduce poverty significantly. In the case of Nigeria, however, poverty and affluence co-exist. Therefore, to profile a meaningful solution to the poverty in the country, it is necessary to carefully examine the causes, nature and the consequences of the poverty in Nigeria despite the wealth of the nation. The book, Poverty Alleviation and the Church in Nigeria, examines the origin, evolution, and global concept of poverty; the Christian, capitalist, socialist and African traditional views of poverty; the exposition of the state of poverty in Nigeria; an overview of the socioeconomic policies and the consequences of poverty on the citizens, and the efforts made so far to reduce poverty in the country.
