Book excerpt: What makes one happy? What gives him the everlasting peace of mind? The bliss? These questions have been asked millions of times and many people have attempted to find the answer. For me, when someone knows that he has been making right choice every time, even in the most difficult situation, he experiences the bliss. And what is it that prompts him to make those right choices? His values , the divine wisdom. Is this wisdom a monopoly of any faith, culture, or race? Definitely not. This is the same wisdom preached by all faiths, all masters, and all the scriptures. In fact, this is the knowledge that all of us are born with. But over a period of time, the corrupt political, economical and social surroundings mislead our minds and cover this divine spark with ashes of ignorance. It is my strong belief that these stories will blow the ash away and make the spark glow again in its original brightness. The person with his value system rejuvenated by this wisdom, finds himself in constant touch with its higher self. He does not only live in peace with himself but with the whole society as well. He develops the enormous acceptance and compassionate love for every thing around him. He drops all the artificial boundaries in his mind and discovers the true purpose of his lifethat ultimately makes him a better human being!

Book A Handbook of Practical Wisdom

Download or read book A Handbook of Practical Wisdom written by Wendelin Küpers and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-16 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current financial and on-going ecological crises have taught us that without practical wisdom, business, organisations and leadership cannot be sustainable. In response to this situation, the Handbook of Practical Wisdom presents a critically informed understanding of wise practices, contributing to more integrative organizational and leadership studies and practice. The focus on integration emphasises the interdependencies of practical wisdom in relation to members, groups and cultures of organisations in their socio-cultural spheres. Wisdom has long slipped from the scholarly map, and so this handbook provides revived and new mappings for today and the future. Seeking to actualize creative potentials of practical wisdom, this book and series aspires to contribute to the contemporary odysseys and quests for orientation in organisation and management research and practice. Wisdom research, as presented in this book, provides bridges to underestimated, neglected or forgotten knowledge and offers transformative passages between Scylla - the rocks of dogmatic modernity - and Charybdis - the whirlpool of dispersed post-modernity. Practical wisdom allows for a better equipped and more experiential and reflexive journey and fosters the art of mindful travelling, beyond a reactive, moralizing sentimentalism. Accordingly, this handbook serves as a medium for reassessing and rearticulating more responsible ways of ’praxis’ in the field of organization and management. In this spirit, each chapter opens a space for dialogue and debate, inviting further inquiries, conversations and explorations by and among its readers: students, academics and practitioners.

Book Gendering Wisdom the Host

Download or read book Gendering Wisdom the Host written by Judith E. McKinlay and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 1996-10-01 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work looks at the intertextual relationships of the invitations to eat and drink in Proverbs, Ben Sira and John 4. If the first two invitations are offered by a female Wisdom/Sophia, what are the gender implications when the hostess becomes a host in John 4? The study poses the possibility of an ongoing convergence strategy, which may have begun when Israelite sages adapted for a Yahwistic context language and imagery earlier associated with female deities. In a subtle move, McKinlay draws upon contemporary reader resistance in order to counter such ideological moves by the scribes, whose ambivalence towards real-life women is also observed in these works.
