Book excerpt: Wholly Sanctified was first published in 1890. A.B. Simpson preached these sermons then printed these shortly thereafter. As A. B. Simpson hoped the people would quickly endear themselves to the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit. Simpson desired to see his congregations to follow full Godhead including the Holy Spirit and search and seek the full indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the sanctifying process within their lives. Based on the hope of true holiness. The chapters of this book are broken down into: Wholly Sanctified Sanctified Spirit A Sanctified Soul A Sanctified Body Preserved Blameless Even as He Legacy in Verse A.B. Simpson stated, "I prayed a long time to get sanctified, sometimes, I thought I had it. On one occasion I felt something, and I held on with a desperate grip for fear it would go, and, of course, it went with the next sensation and the next mood. I lost it because I did not hold onto Him."

Book excerpt: Why the cover photo? As spirits are invisible it was difficult trying to find a representative photograph. As for the title - as is my want I often play on words, but whilst I originally wrote spirit with a capital S I thought it may be seen as irreverent* so changed it to lower case. My intention for this small offering is to consider what spirits are, where they are, what they are not, finishing with the most important spirit - the Holy Spirit. *https: //www.vocabulary.com says, 'The adjective holy comes from the Old English word hālig and is related to the German word heilig, meaning "blessed." There is a relationship between holy and whole, and the religious sense probably developed from keeping believers spiritually whole - and pure.' So perhaps not irreverent at all! In conversations and in my studying, I often become a little confused as to what spirit is being talked of, thus my perhaps feeble attempt at differentiating between the various uses of the word. This is not a comprehensive academic approach but does cover many misconceptions or perhaps issues some have not even contemplated. Certain aspects will, as is usual in my books, possibly be controversial, but all I ask is that people think for themselves and not simply rely on their favourite minister, author, or tradition. The three main elements to this book are areas that I have pondered over the years, some of which I have discussed in my Home from Home (HFH - which looks at how people can wrongly look at issues in a very safe, comfortable, don't-upset-the apple-cart manner) series and have included some of my findings in this book. Whilst spirits are synonymous with angels (as there are no other types of spirit - apart from the alcoholic version) I attempt to cover the spirit (singular) that is part of us, that returns to God, and of course the Holy Spirit.

Darwish is an Egyptian-American, former-Muslim human rights activist who is frustrated with mainstream America's talk of tolerance and assimilation. In Wholly Different, Darwish sets non-Muslims straight about tenets of Islam that are incompatible with free society. For the first time, Darwish tells the whole story of her personal break with Islam, starting with the brutal physical violence and rigid class system she witnessed and culminating with the spine-tingling visit she received from President Nasser after her father, fedayeen commander Mustafa Hayez, was assassinated by Israeli Defense Forces. She lays out the "seventh-century values" of Islam that religious extremists are so intent on protecting through global warfare—values that set Islam apart from the other Abrahamic religions.
