Book Walking The Cutline

Download or read book Walking The Cutline written by Sheila Wanite Bautz and published by Aedipus Ink. This book was released on with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "[A] compelling and well-researched examination of work-place safety laws." KIRKUS Reviews When Sheila's husband, Dean, dies while seismic drilling in Alberta, she writes her favorite quote on a sticky note and tapes it on her desk: "Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth." ~ Albert Einstein Walking The Cutline is the true account of a small town woman's determination to seek justice for her late husband's work-place fatality. As Sheila submerges deeper into a world of lies and political injustice for profit, her suspicions about the real cause for Dean's death escalates as she attains conflicting and questionable information from all agencies involved, including Occupational Health and Safety. Against various opposition and advice to "just let it go" and surrender, Sheila stubbornly persists for nearly four years, piecing together what really happened. Ultimately, she uncovers a concrete document deemed impossible to attain: the smoking gun document. However, Canadian laws prove to be the ultimate obstacle in Sheila's pursuit to seek justice in a country silent about exposing what really happens when companies kill.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bill Greenstone, an Englishman living in Berlin, has to decide whether to move to Cracow to be near Marta Szadkowska, an expert on Japanese art, or to stay in Berlin, to be comforted by Uta Schmidtbauer, his Marxist-Leninist cleaning lady. In Berlin, he discovers that from the house in which he lives, in the years 1942 - 44 twenty-one people were deported to the East, eleven of them on one day to Auschwitz. In Cracow, at the Remuh synagogue, he meets Lewenherz Maks, from whom he hears the story of the destruction of Jewish Kazimierz. And finds the courage to admit that Siemens, for whom he has worked for the last twenty years, had been intimately involved in the Nazi crimes against humanity. Through these painful confrontations, he is able at last to look clearly at his own loss, the death of his son, and to decide his future.

Book The Greatest Love Story Never Told

Download or read book The Greatest Love Story Never Told written by Richard Orion and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-10-30 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This story is based on a true love story that spanned almost two decades. The names and places have been changed to protect the privacy of the individuals involved in this affair. The chronological sequence of events has been maintained for continuity. All the stories and experiences are based on facts. This book is about a love story that was kept secret for 18 years and perhaps shouldve remained a secret. The first book related to this love story was a book of poems entitled Somewhere, Sometime, Somehow: Love Poems and Short Stories published in 2008 by this author and Xlibris. For the perceptive reader of this book one can trace the ups and downs of our love relationship. These 18 years were filled with robust love and passion for each other. Perhaps it was fantasy; perhaps it was the most real thing we will ever experience. The heartbreaking part of this love affair is that I am not really sure my lover ever really understood or appreciated my profound and unconditional love for her. I opened my heart to her through poetry and thoughtful letters, but she rarely showed me what was in her heart. Perhaps it was a one-sided love affair, but I surely think and hope not. I was convinced that she truly loved me through her words and actions. At least I experienced a pure love that I had only dreamed was possible. The story is told mainly through the exchange of letters and emails to each other. Perhaps readers can experience and hopefully feel the deep love we felt for each other.
