Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 42 things I wish I knew when I was 25 is a collection of concepts that I have come across during the last 15 years or so. Throughout the book, I offer my reflections on various learnings that I have had during my time as a strategy consultant, as a husband and father, while attending a top tier MBA, and when working in several management roles in multinational industrial companies. The concepts of the book can be broadly categorised into 5 areas: leadership, critical thinking, culture, business, and life hacks. Many recurring themes will be found throughout the book, with the importance of trust, bonding, and dialogue being some of the most prominent ones. The concepts covered in the book are discussed in bite-sized fashion for quick reference. The intention is to trigger the curiosity of the reader by offering personal reflections around leadership and life in general. I would have benefitted from reading this book when setting off on my professional and personal journeys as a twenty-five-year-old, and hope that you will feel the same!

Book When Flying Was Fun

Download or read book When Flying Was Fun written by Bill Eads and published by America Star Books. This book was released on 2007-01-15 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Flying Was Fun! is an autobiographical collection of aviation anecdotes covering four decades of flying, starting with the sixties. These humorous and sometimes poignant stories are told from a first person perspective by the author, who was a Naval Aviator during the Vietnam War and spent over thirty years as an airline pilot with United Airlines. These memoirs relate to those days when pilots actually flew airplanes, before the days of “glass cockpits” and computer-operated flights. Those were the days when passengers dressed up in their Sunday finest for a trip to the airport to go on a flight that would take them on the adventure of their lives! This was a time when airline pilots and flight attendants looked and felt sharp as they strode to their airplanes with pride in their uniforms and the feeling that they truly were part of the most glamorous profession in America.

Download or read book When I Was a Child written by Susan B. Ridgely and published by Univ of North Carolina Press. This book was released on 2006-05-18 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Communion is generally understood as a rite of passage in which seven- and eight-year-old Catholic children transform from baptized participants in the Church to members of the body of Christ, the universal Catholic Church. This official Church account, however, ignores what the rite actually may mean to its participants. In When I Was a Child, Susan Ridgely Bales demonstrates that the accepted understanding of a religious ritual can shift dramatically when one considers the often neglected perspective of child participants. Bales followed Faith Formation classes and interviewed communicants, parents, and priests in an African American parish and in a parish containing both white and Latino congregations. By letting the children speak for themselves through their words, drawings, and actions, When I Was a Child stresses the importance of rehearsal, the centrality of sensory experiences, and the impact of expectations in the communicants' interpretations of the Eucharist. In the first sustained ethnographic study of how children interpret and help shape their own faith, Bales finds that children's perspectives give new contours to the traditional understanding of a common religious ritual. Ultimately, she argues that scholars of religion should consider age as distinct a factor as race, class, and gender in their analyses.
