Book excerpt: Çınar is 22 years old, working in the decoration department of a clothing company, an original, well-mannered and at the same time unusual and quite mature young man. He has not yet fully recovered from the betrayal he experienced in his first long relationship. He meets Aslı (31) in the area used by the staff for breaks within the company. Aslı works in a high ranking position in the same company. She has very short hair on one side and blunt hair on the other side, a crazy clothing style and a settled yet rebellious character. When they meet, Aslı catches Çınar's attention. Çınar's long hair and melancholic moods also attracted Aslı's attention. Aslı exaggerates her every move in order to attract Çınar's attention. Despite all her efforts, Çınar, who does not respond, becomes the center of Aslı's attention. During another encounter at the rest stop, Aslı asks Çınar the reason for his sad mood and creates an opportunity to meet him. Their dialog deepens spontaneously and with this sincerity, Çınar takes Aslı's hand to say goodbye. This contact affects both of them very much. Later, Aslı, who wants to further the relationship, invites herself to Çınar. During their first meeting outside the company, love shines between them. The fact that Aslı was going abroad for a month the next day for a business trip added even more depth to the relationship. The next day, Aslı arrives at the company in the morning to pick up her essentials as her plane takes off in the evening. She meets Çınar again in the break area. At that moment, Ayşen, another company employee and Aslı's coworker, comes to the area where only the two of them are. Çınar is careful not to reveal the relationship, so he is on his own. Ayşen asks Aslı how her husband is and when she hears this, Çınar's world is turned upside down. Çınar, who erased his best friend with a single pen because he had an affair with a married woman, is now faced with a similar situation. Sometimes he succumbs to his heart, sometimes he gets angry at himself for it. As a result of his inner conflicts, he decides to leave Aslı. He responds with violence to Aslı's every effort to reconcile. Aslı gives up and ends the relationship within herself. In the short time that passes, Çınar regrets his decision and tries to make Aslı forgive him. He gets no response to any of his efforts. Turning his back on his forbidden friend, Çınar is now obsessed with his forbidden love. He tries every way he can think of to reconcile with her, but the relationship becomes even more impossible. It has become such an obsession that he is even fired from his job because of his performance at work. For Çınar, this situation means not being unemployed, but not seeing Aslı again. For this reason, he keeps going to the places they used to go together in order to meet her once more. His only hope is to believe that maybe if they see eye to eye again, he will be forgiven.

The average listener may be unaware of the many links between rock music and the classics. One might remember a few examples, such as Walter Murphy's chart-topping "A Fifth of Beethoven" or Eric Carmen's "All by Myself," but pass them off as interesting anomalies. However, the influence of the classics on rock music is pervasive and grows from a long line of precedents. This second supplement to Janell R. Duxbury's original 1985 discography, Rockin' the Classics and Classicizin' the Rock, brings the earlier work and first supplement up-to-date with hundreds of new entries documenting recently released or newly discovered examples of the interconnection between these musical genres. Duxbury details nearly 700 new examples of recorded rock instrumentals and songs that borrow musical themes from the classics. Variations range from contemporary renditions of complete classical works to brief classical quotes or phrases subtly incorporated into rock compositions.
