Book excerpt: Noticing an abnormal weakness in his body, author Harvey J. Morgan decided to seek medical attention. After blood work, the initial diagnosis confirmed his worst fear: a form of leukemia. He was an active pastor, father, and grandfather, raised dairy calves, and was known as a man of faith. While preparing to visit specialist doctors at a university hospital, Morgan felt impressed to cling to Ezekiel 16:6. After conferring with the medical team and given his sixty-four-year-old age and available treatment options, the future seemed unclear: five percent recovery rate with minimum life expectancy. Holding onto faith and leaning on the support of family and friends, he was unable to complete the prescribed treatment, but God performed the improbable. God Said, “Live!” details Morgan’s faith-filled battle through the dark days and nights of treatment and recovery. Seven years later, he continues to encourage others to trust God and hold onto His word. He relays his epic story of faith versus fear, hoping to inspire others to seek to overcome and live.

Book The Messenger of the Lord in Early Jewish Interpretations of Genesis

Download or read book The Messenger of the Lord in Early Jewish Interpretations of Genesis written by Camilla Hélena von Heijne and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2010-09-29 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The focus of this book is on early Jewish interpretations of the ambiguous relationship between God and ‛the angel of the Lord/God’ in texts like Genesis 16, 22 and 31. Genesis 32 is included since it exhibits the same ambiguity and constitutes an inseparable part of the Jacob saga. The study is set in the wider context of the development of angelology and concepts of God in various forms of early Judaism. When identifying patterns of interpretation in Jewish texts, their chronological setting is less important than the nature of the biblical source texts. For example, a common pattern is the avoidance of anthropomorphism. In Genesis ‛the angel of the Lord’ generally seems to be a kind of impersonal extension of God, while later Jewish writings are characterized by a more individualized angelology, but the ambivalence between God and his angel remains in many interpretations. In Philo's works and Wisdom of Solomon, the ‛Logos’ and ‛Lady Wisdom’ respectively have assumed the role of the biblical ‛angel of the Lord’. Although the angelology of Second Temple Judaism had developed in the direction of seeing angels as distinct personalities, Judaism still had room for the idea of divine hypostases.

Book Discovering Jesus in a Chemistry Lab

Download or read book Discovering Jesus in a Chemistry Lab written by George B. Hill and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-11-17 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Real hands carved Nazareth wood; we remember them, when we shape our own frameworks in life. In a modern chemistry lab, might the work of a scientist hint how a skilled divine Craftsman creates the new? George does not discuss science, or disputes of science and faith-just the actual doing of chemistry alongside the way of faith. Any reader might enjoy these 2,000-word Reflections. George chooses 52 common words from lab life, each the name of a research principle or practical process. He sets each beside Bible verses and also many secular quotations, to gain an unusual view of God's hidden purposes in us. We share the journey to an exciting new chemical compound, by a bold transformation, then long purification to the precious product. A b&w image from the Holy Land enriches each Reflection. In an authentic lab, might any scientist-or an observer of one-discover God's love, the work of the Holy Spirit, and Jesus at work in each of us?

  • Publisher : Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
  • Release : 2017-03-13
  • ISBN : 9781544671567
  • Pages : 28 pages

Download or read book A Lesson in Scripture written by Neville Goddard and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-03-13 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THIS LECTURE TITLED, "A DIVINE EVENT," BY NEVILLE GODDARD IS APPROXIMATELY A 24 PAGE BOOK (PAPERBACK 5X8) "The story of Jesus is a persistent assumption." This is true in every aspect of your life. You want to be rich? That's the story of Jesus, which is a persistent assumption in the conviction that "I am rich," for unless you believe that "I am rich" you die in your sins and continue to claim "I am poor." You want to be known? Then persistently assume: "I am known." Want to be healthy? "I am healthy!" Regardless of what you want to be, you must declare you already are it and persist in that assumption. An assumption is an act of faith, and without faith it is impossible to please God. Your reasoning mind may deny wealth. Your senses deny it too, but if you have faith you will dare to assume wealth, thereby becoming the man you want to be. "Neville may eventually be recognized as one of the world's great mystics." -Joseph Murphy, author of The Power of Your Subconscious Mind "A popular speaker on metaphysical themes from the late '30s until his death in 1972, Neville authored ten books in which he captured the sheer logic of creative mind principles. His work has impacted me in a very profound way; in fact, he's been a great mentor to me in the past few years." -Dr. Wayne Dyer in Wishes Fulfilled "Neville may be the positive-thinking movement's most radical and subtly influential voice." -Mitch Horowitz, Time.com "Of all the metaphysical systems with which I am acquainted, Neville's is the most magical." -Israel Regardie "The words of spiritual teacher Neville Goddard retain their power to electrify... Neville captured the sheer logic of creative mind principles as perhaps no other figure of his era." -Science of Mind magazine

This book was released on 2018-02-19 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers of the volume investigate how authoritative figures in the Second Temple Period and beyond contributed to forming the Scriptures of Judaism, as well as how these Scriptures shaped ideal figures as authoritative in Early Judaism. The topic of the volume thus reflects Ben Wright’s research, who—especially with his work on Ben Sira, on the Letter of Aristeas, and on various problems of authority in Early Jewish texts—creatively contributed to the study of the formation of Scriptures, and to the understanding of the figures behind these texts.
