Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An inquisitive look at what saith the scripture. Encouraging the practice of "rightly dividing the word of truth" 2 Timothy 2:15. Not all scripture is written to us but all scripture is written for us; "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16-17. A closer look at forgiveness and where it is at. Understanding that there is only one baptism; "one Lord, one faith, one baptism," Ephesians 4:5. Is that baptism physical or spiritual? What was the purpose of "Italics", why were they used and more importantly why are they in most current day versions removed? The consideration of "born again" or "in Christ" in this "If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:" Ephesians 3:2. Learning what "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." 1 Corinthians 2:2, is about and not to get sidetracked: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry." 2 Timothy 4:3-5. Why Paul? "In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel." Romans 2:16. Paul is the Apostle of Christ "For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:" Romans 11:13

Book Seeing and savouring Jesus Christ

Download or read book Seeing and savouring Jesus Christ written by JOHN PIPER and published by Inter-Varsity Press. This book was released on 2020-05-21 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who is Jesus Christ? You've never met Him in person, and you don't know anyone who has. But there is a way to know who he is. How? Jesus Christ - the divine Person revealed in the Bible - has a unique excellence and a spiritual beauty that speaks directly to our souls and says, "Yes, this is truth." It's like seeing the sun and knowing that it is light, or tasting honey and knowing that it is sweet. The depth and complexity of Jesus shatter our simple mental frameworks. He baffled proud scribes with his wisdom but was understood and loved by children. He calmed a raging storm with a word but would not get himself down from the cross. Look at the Jesus of the Bible. Keep your eyes open, and fill them with the portrait of Jesus in God's Word. Jesus said, "If anyone's will is to do God's will, He will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority." Ask God for the grace to do His will, and you will see the truth of His Son. John Piper has written this book in the hope that all will see Jesus for who he really is and will come to enjoy him above all else.
