Book What Every American and Christian Should Know about Islam

Download or read book What Every American and Christian Should Know about Islam written by William Merrifield and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-11-08 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is not the intent of this book to provide commentary to the whole of the Qur'an. What it does propose is to cover those areas of the Qur'an that will give the reader an awareness of the Islamic world's understanding of its relationship to the rest of the world and to the world's other religions. One would think there would be some grand plan for the writing of such a book. The truth is, it was ongoing discussions on Facebook that led to a two-year study to determine the truth of the matter. From this study came a correlated and transliterated copy of the Qur'an, which readers will be given the opportunity if they so wish to request a free copy. Who are the Muslims? What are their factions, how do they relate to the world and to one another? What is Shari'a law, and how does it equate to national and state laws? Is Shari'a law and therefore Islamic law compatible with western values? These are but some of the questions this book seeks to answer. About the Author William Merrifield graduated from the Oklahoma City Police Academy in 1974. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in "Professional Law Enforcement" from Oklahoma City University in 1977. He received a "Master of Divinity Degree" from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1980. He obtained a "Doctor of Ministry Degree" from Westminster Theological Seminary in 1992. His military schooling includes the Army War College where he received a "Masters of Strategic Studies" in July of 2002. He has been in the ministry as both a Southern Baptist Pastor and Chaplain, with over forty 40 years of service. He brings a wealth of experience to his writing. He has written several "White Papers" for the US Army, and doctrine for the US Army Chaplaincy. Since retiring, he has written three books, The Threat From Within, published by Tate Publishing, Who Do You Say I Am, Jesus Called the Christ, and Thoughts On Paul, both published by Christian Faith Publishing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vivid, dramatic portraits of Muslims in America in the years after 9/11, as they define themselves in a religious subculture torn between moderation and extremism There are as many as six million Muslims in the United States today. Islam (together with Christianity and Judaism) is now an American faith, and the challenges Muslims face as they reconcile their intense and demanding faith with our chaotic and permissive society are recognizable to all of us. From West Virginia to northern Idaho, American Islam takes readers into Muslim homes, mosques, and private gatherings to introduce a population of striking variety. The central characters range from a charismatic black imam schooled in the militancy of the Nation of Islam to the daughter of an Indian immigrant family whose feminist views divided her father's mosque in West Virginia. Here are lives in conflict, reflecting in different ways the turmoil affecting the religion worldwide. An intricate mixture of ideologies and cultures, American Muslims include immigrants and native born, black and white converts, those who are well integrated into the larger society and those who are alienated and extreme in their political views. Even as many American Muslims succeed in material terms and enrich our society, Islam is enmeshed in controversy in the United States, as thousands of American Muslims have been investigated and interrogated in the wake of 9/11. American Islam is an intimate and vivid group portrait of American Muslims in a time of turmoil and promise.

Book A Battle for the Soul of Islam

Download or read book A Battle for the Soul of Islam written by M. Zuhdi Jasser and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2012-06-05 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among the unsettling social shifts in the wake of 9/11 was the global attention paid to Islam. Here in the United States, we became divided, often sadly along partisan lines, between those who believed every Muslim was a potential threat and those who believed no Muslim could do wrong. For conservative Wisconsin native and former U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, these radical times meant facing a new reality as a devout Muslim and a patriot—a certain betrayal within his faith, and a need to answer a question that crossed the minds of even the most sensitive and politically correct: “Can a good Muslim be a good American as well?” Jasser founded the American Islamic Forum for Democracy (AIFD) to instill in young American Muslims an appreciation for the distinctively positive impact that this nation’s ideals of liberty have had upon the world. As a nationally recognized expert on Muslim radicalization, he offers non-Muslims a definitive comprehension of the difference between Islam and the spiritual cancer known as Islamism, or political Islam, and how violence and extremism run counter to Islam’s true teachings. As he persuasively argues, until we acknowledge the threat of Islamism in all its forms, the majority of Americans will be gulled into recognizing only the most obvious: terrorism. In A Battle for the Soul of Islam, Jasser embraces both his faith and his country while asking hard questions: * Are American Muslim children learning entitlement as victims, or are they being taught individual responsibility and critical thinking? * Are poisonous conspiracy theories dividing their American identity, or are they gaining exposure to reason, nationalism, and patriotism? * Are Muslims publicly critical of the Islamist movements of the Middle East, or do they remain silent on aspects of religious doctrine that conflict with modernity and universal equality? * Is the American press downplaying the seditious threat of homegrown Islamist radicalism and the influence of Islamists’ propaganda arm on our governmental policies? * Is our culture of political correctness a major obstacle toward long-overdue Muslim reform against Islamism? All these years after 9/11, it’s time for us to understand the true threat of Islamism. It is a Muslim problem that needs a Muslim solution, and A Battle for the Soul of Islam builds a solid, balanced, and imperative must-read foundation for the fight.

Book What Catholics Need to Know About Islam

Download or read book What Catholics Need to Know About Islam written by William K. Kilpatrick and published by Sophia Institute Press. This book was released on 2020-08-04 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is no longer permissible to have an honest conversation about Islam. Those who warn about Islam's threat to our way of life are dismissed as racists and xenophobes by social elites and even by many in the Catholic hierarchy. For centuries, the Catholic Church served as a bulwark against Islamic expansion. Today the Church is an enabler of Islam, encouraging mass migration into the West and portraying Islam as a peace-loving religion that has nothing to do with terrorism. In this highly informative, hard-hitting book, Catholic author William Kilpatrick pulls no punches in courageously confronting the threats posed by Islam. He shows how Muslim activists are employing the same tactics that led to the meteoric rise of the LGBT movement and how they have systematically infiltrated the government, media, business, schools, and even churches. He explains how Western self-hatred and p

Book The Muslim Book of Why

Download or read book The Muslim Book of Why written by Warithudeen Umar and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2013 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Islam is a very mysterious and complex faith, one of intellectual depth in prayer and practice. It is unfortunate that the teachings of Islam have been marred by centuries of intellectual malaise, political misdirection, extremism, and disunity, leaving many spiritual wanderers both Muslim and non-Muslim to ponder a plethora of unaddressed questions about these sacred teachings. In his newest book, The Muslim Book of Why: What Everyone Should Know about Islam, author, scholar, and leading jihad theorist Warithudeen Umar highlights the concept of ijtihad in an attempt to help answer many of today's most pressing questions about Islam. Ijtihad is described as a creative and disciplined intellectual effort to derive legal rulings from Islamic sources while taking into consideration the variables brought on by the fluctuating circumstances of the Muslim world. Though the world has changed and expanded, humanity's need for these teachings viewed through the clarifying concept of ijtihad has not. To right these wrongs of gross misguidance within Muslim society, we must deconstruct history in order to discern what went wrong after the revelation of the Qur'an was shared with the world. The Muslim Book of Why seeks to do so, refocusing Muslim thought on a life of faith, family development, and worship.

Download or read book What s Right with Islam written by Feisal Abdul Rauf and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2009-10-13 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An American imam offers answers for today's toughest questions about Islam, and a vision for a reconciliation between Islam and the West. One of the pressing questions of our time is what went wrong in the relationship between Muslims and the West. Continuing global violence in the name of Islam reflects the deepest fears by certain Muslim factions of Western political, cultural, and economic encroachment. The solution to the current antagonism requires finding common ground upon which to build mutual respect and understanding. Who better to offer such an analysis than an American imam, someone with a foot in each world and the tools to examine the common roots of both Western and Muslim cultures; someone to explain to the non-Islamic West not just what went wrong with Islam, but what's right with Islam. Focused on finding solutions, not on determining fault, this is ultimately a hopeful, inspiring book. What's Right with Islam systematically lays out the reasons for the current dissonance between these cultures and offers a foundation and plan for improved relations. Wide-ranging in scope, What's Right with Islam elaborates in satisfying detail a vision for a Muslim world that can eventually embrace its own distinctive forms of democracy and capitalism, aspiring to a new Cordoba - a time when Jews, Christians, Muslims, and all other faith traditions will live together in peace and prosperity.
