Book Introduction To The Theory Of Weighted Polynomial Approximation

Download or read book Introduction To The Theory Of Weighted Polynomial Approximation written by H N Mhaskar and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1997-01-04 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, we have attempted to explain a variety of different techniques and ideas which have contributed to this subject in its course of successive refinements during the last 25 years. There are other books and surveys reviewing the ideas from the perspective of either potential theory or orthogonal polynomials. The main thrust of this book is to introduce the subject from an approximation theory point of view. Thus, the main motivation is to study analogues of results from classical trigonometric approximation theory, introducing other ideas as needed. It is not our objective to survey the most recent results, but merely to introduce to the readers the thought processes and ideas as they are developed. This book is intended to be self-contained, although the reader is expected to be familiar with rudimentary real and complex analysis. It will also help to have studied elementary trigonometric approximation theory, and have some exposure to orthogonal polynomials.

Book Series of Faber Polynomials

Download or read book Series of Faber Polynomials written by P.K. Suetin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1998-03-23 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents some important classical and modern results of the series of Faber polynomials and their applications. Interest in this subject has increased rapidly over the last decade, although the presentation of research has, until now, been confined mainly to journal articles. Applications include theory of functions of complex variables, theory of analytic function approximation, and some aspects of numerical analysis.

Book Polynomials and Polynomial Inequalities

Download or read book Polynomials and Polynomial Inequalities written by Peter Borwein and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After an introduction to the geometry of polynomials and a discussion of refinements of the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra, the book turns to a consideration of various special polynomials. Chebyshev and Descartes systems are then introduced, and Müntz systems and rational systems are examined in detail. Subsequent chapters discuss denseness questions and the inequalities satisfied by polynomials and rational functions. Appendices on algorithms and computational concerns, on the interpolation theorem, and on orthogonality and irrationality round off the text. The book is self-contained and assumes at most a senior-undergraduate familiarity with real and complex analysis.

Book Exploiting Symmetry in Applied and Numerical Analysis

Download or read book Exploiting Symmetry in Applied and Numerical Analysis written by Eugene L. Allgower and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1993 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Symmetry plays an important role in theoretical physics, applied analysis, classical differential equations, and bifurcation theory. Although numerical analysis has incorporated aspects of symmetry on an ad hoc basis, there is now a growing collection of numerical analysts who are currently attempting to use symmetry groups and representation theory as fundamental tools in their work. This book contains the proceedings of an AMS-SIAM Summer Seminar in Applied Mathematics, held in 1992 at Colorado State University. The seminar, which drew about 100 scientists from around the world, was intended to stimulate the systematic incorporation of symmetry and group theoretical concepts into numerical methods. The papers in this volume have been refereed and will not be published elsewhere.

Book Limit Theorems of Polynomial Approximation with Exponential Weights

Download or read book Limit Theorems of Polynomial Approximation with Exponential Weights written by Michael I. Ganzburg and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2008 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author develops the limit relations between the errors of polynomial approximation in weighted metrics and apply them to various problems in approximation theory such as asymptotically best constants, convergence of polynomials, approximation of individual functions, and multidimensional limit theorems of polynomial approximation.

Book Bounds and Asymptotics for Orthogonal Polynomials for Varying Weights

Download or read book Bounds and Asymptotics for Orthogonal Polynomials for Varying Weights written by Eli Levin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-02-13 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book establishes bounds and asymptotics under almost minimal conditions on the varying weights, and applies them to universality limits and entropy integrals. Orthogonal polynomials associated with varying weights play a key role in analyzing random matrices and other topics. This book will be of use to a wide community of mathematicians, physicists, and statisticians dealing with techniques of potential theory, orthogonal polynomials, approximation theory, as well as random matrices.

Book Christoffel Functions and Orthogonal Polynomials for Exponential Weights on 1 1

Download or read book Christoffel Functions and Orthogonal Polynomials for Exponential Weights on 1 1 written by A. L. Levin and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bounds for orthogonal polynomials which hold on the whole interval of orthogonality are crucial to investigating mean convergence of orthogonal expansions, weighted approximation theory, and the structure of weighted spaces. This book focuses on a method of obtaining such bounds for orthogonal polynomials (and their Christoffel functions) associated with weights on [-1,1]. Levin and Lubinsky obtain such bounds for weights that vanish strongly at 1 and -1. They also present uniform estimates of spacing of zeros of orthogonal polynomials and applications to weighted approximation theory.
