Book excerpt: 100 Inspirational Stories and Beautiful, Uplifting Photos of Survivors. “You have cancer” are three of the most terrifying words a person can hear, and our culture does little to ease the fear. New Beginnings: 100 Cancer Survivors follows one hundred survivors who discovered that those words were the start of a new beginning, not an end to their lives. New Beginnings is a collection of narratives and energetic photographic portraits of men, women, children, and families that inspire and provide hope for anyone diagnosed with cancer as well as for their families and friends. The survivors vary in age, ethnicity, and diagnosis, but they all share the ability to turn a diagnosis of cancer into a positive force in their lives. Coming from all walks of life, survivors include Sally Craigen, who beat two different cancers three decades apart but who never let it stop her from enjoying life; Rabbi William Cutter, who had already survived three heart attacks by the time he faced down prostate cancer on two occasions; Sophia Colby, diagnosed with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis at fifteen months of age, who has survived more in her ten years than many people do in their entire lives; and professional basketball player Coby Karl, who hasn’t let two bouts from thyroid cancer stop him from chasing his dreams; and ninety-six others. This is a project by and for cancer survivors: their words, Bill Aron's photographs, in collaboration with their ideas and sensibilities. This is their book.

This book was released on 2023-09-21 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A state of being where we, as individuals, greet each day with a genuine belief in ourselves while practicing self-affirming habits and disciplines and a sincere commitment to gratitude is a state of being that we all aspire to. The ability to have the courage, confidence, and conviction to not just dream our dreams but to actualize them with joy and faith, while at the same time embracing life’s struggles as we do so, is a state of being that entrepreneur and author Reetu Gupta helps us realize in her breakout book, Auspicious: Embracing the Path Toward Courage, Conviction and Confidence. Reetu shares with readers the deeply embedded connection she has with the Divine Feminine, a kinship that has empowered her to live a life of grace and gratitude as a part of the Divine Universe’s intentions. Highlighting the practices that she embraces on a daily basis — ones that make it possible for us, too, to walk the spiritual path that Reetu walks — shows us, the readers, the importance of taking time for silent meditation and conversation with the Divine Universe as a means to enjoying the gifts of empowered, grateful living. This book is a must-read for those who seek to honour their life’s purpose with spiritual intention.

Book Because His Heart Was Strong

Download or read book Because His Heart Was Strong written by Chelsey L. Owens and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2018-12-10 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “That was the moment, the turning point. That was the moment I fully understood the depth of Daddy’s love for me. Similar to the love of Christ, I knew his lack of consciousness—or even more realistically, the hostility of death’s doorstep—could not interfere with my father’s matchless love for his only daughter. While Christ’s suffering made me realize His love for me, my daddy’s suffering made me realize my love for him.” Losing a parent is never easy. Losing a good parent is even crueler. But losing an admirable parent comparable to Christ, it’s an extremely bitter truth to accept. Written from the viewpoint of an undeniable Daddy’s girl, Because His Heart was Strong entwines the captivating journey of Rick Owens’ final decade of life through her own story, including the remarkable courage he demonstrated amidst prolonged suffering and the sheer legacy he imparted in death, highlighting the faith he placed in his Savior through it all.

Download or read book Hope and Courage written by Lisa (Cox) Kibler and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-05-07 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's a subject nobody wants to talk about until it attacks them! Unless you have been through it yourself, you cannot relate or fully understand what that person is going through. It's time to bring this topic out into the open and "talk" about it and realize that no one can get through it without support, family, friends, and faith. My journey started in 2013 with my first surgery to remove lymph nodes. The results were "inconclusive." Five years went by before my lymph nodes would again decide to "freak out" and require another surgery. This time we got answers... The smell of spring was in the air, and the day was sunny and warm. I was trying to finish up the current school year with my kiddos when everything changed. My husband and I had big plans for the summer. We were looking forward to kayaking, camping, fishing; and I was looking forward to playing softball. Then came the doctor's appointment, and when the doctor said cancer, everything came to a screeching halt in more ways than one. Cancer is devastating, but I chose to put on my armor and fight this beast head-on. I did not realize just how difficult this "battle" was going to be and how much I would be tested physically, spiritually, and mentally. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to face; but with God, family, and friends, I was able to defeat the beast "for now." Was it easy? No! Do I want to go through it again? No! But after talking with many cancer survivors, I learned that anything is possible through prayer and perseverance. I hope that sharing my story may help someone else get through their journey with hope and courage.
